Northwest University is a private Christian liberal arts university in Kirkland, Washington. The university offers associate, baccalaureate, master's, and doctorate degrees through its College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business and Management, School of Education, Mark and Huldah Buntain School of Nursing, College of Ministry, and College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The university has a satellite campus in Salem, Oregon.

International Community School (ICS) is a small 6-12th grade public school in the Lake Washington School District of Washington State. It has about 60 students per grade. It is part of a series of schools founded by Dr. Bruce Saari. "International" in the school's name reflects an international focus in curriculum, and it is not an international school in the usual sense. ICS is a choice school, for which an application must be submitted, and is not part of the Lake Washington School District middle-to-high school feeder system. All complete applications are entered into a lottery to select those who will be admitted. In the event that there is space available in excess of the applications submitted by in-district students, applications by out-of-district students are allowed. In recent years, there have been over 800 applications for the 65 or more spots available yielding a chance of less than 10% to be admitted. The school offers an integrated six year Humanities/International Studies core curriculum, as well as Art for 5 years, instead of the regular no art/LA/SS(Language Arts/Social Studies). Each year also has rigorous Science and Math classes. Additionally, students study Spanish, for at least four years, with the intention of achieving fluency. All classes in 9-12 grade are Honors or AP classes. The curriculum is fixed and the same for all students until Junior year when there is one elective, and Senior year when there are 4 electives. Every year in May students go on a theme-based Focus Week where they enrich themselves through travel or local activities, leaving "the confines of the classroom to expand their knowledge".The mascot for ICS is the Phoenix, and the motto is "Forever We Rise".

Puget Sound Adventist Academy is a Seventh-day Adventist high school that shares a campus with Kirkland Adventist School in Kirkland, Washington, United States. It is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system, the world's second largest Christian school system. Its extra-curricular activities focus on outreach and community service, but also include music instruction and performance, and athletic programs.

B.E.S.T. High School is an alternative high school in the Houghton neighborhood of Kirkland, Washington, operated by the Lake Washington School District. It is called a 'choice' school because enrollment is purely by choice.. It maintains a maximum of 190 students to maintain a low student–teacher ratio.

Bridle Trails State Park is a 489-acre (198 ha) state park in the Bridle Trails neighborhood in an unincorporated part of the Eastside area of King County, Washington. Established in 1932 and developed in 1933 by the Civil Works Administration, primary features of the park include a forested trail system shared by pedestrians and equestrians and an outdoor arena used for equestrian purposes.

Benjamin Franklin Elementary School is an elementary school located in the Bridle Trails neighborhood in Kirkland, Washington. It is located across the street from Bridle Trails State Park. The school serves students from K through 5th grade as part of the Lake Washington School District. It is a feeder school to Rose Hill Middle School in Redmond, Washington and Lake Washington High School.

America's Foundation for Chess (AF4C) is a nonprofit chess foundation begun in greater Seattle, Washington, USA in 2000.Scott Oki and Laurie Oki founded Seattle Chess Foundation in June, 2000, which later became America's Foundation for Chess. Entrepreneur Erik Anderson and grandmaster Yasser Seirawan are also credited as founders of America's Foundation for Chess.The foundation was originally based at Carillon Point, in suburban Kirkland, Washington, and moved to Bellevue in 2013.AF4C sponsored the U.S. Chess Championship starting in 1999.

Henry Cogswell College is a former private institution of higher learning that was based in Washington state from 1979 to 2006. The college offered bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration, computer science, digital arts, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, and professional management. It was named after temperance movement crusader Henry D. Cogswell. Historically, the college had an enrollment of 300 students that relied mainly on Boeing-related tuition.

Lake Washington High School is a four-year public high school in Kirkland, Washington, a suburb east of Seattle. It is one of four main high schools in the Lake Washington School District, with an enrollment capacity of approximately 1,500 students. Located in the Rose Hill neighborhood east of downtown Kirkland, LWHS competes in the KingCo 3A athletic conference; the school colors are purple and white and its mascot is the Kangaroo.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) is the standards organization that oversees the development of Bluetooth standards and the licensing of the Bluetooth technologies and trademarks to manufacturers. The SIG is a not-for-profit, non-stock corporation founded in September 1998. The SIG is headquartered in Kirkland, Washington. The SIG does not make, manufacture or sell Bluetooth-enabled products.

Houghton is one of the lakeside neighborhoods of the city of Kirkland, Washington. Consisting mostly of upscale, single-family homes, Houghton overlooks Lake Washington and is one of the wealthier districts of the Eastside suburbs of Seattle. The village was named for Willard Houghton, a local lumberman. Houghton incorporated in 1948. In 1950, Census records showed there were 1,065 people living in the town of Houghton. The city of Houghton was annexed by Kirkland in 1968 and became the first community in Washington with a neighborhood council.The headquarters of the Seattle Seahawks were located in Houghton, near Northwest University until moving to new quarters in Renton in 2008. The main arterials running through Houghton include 108th Avenue NE, west of Interstate 405, Lakeview Drive, and Lake Street, which connects to Lake Washington Boulevard NE. Attractions include Houghton Beach Park and Marsh Park, on the lake, and Watershed Park, adjacent to the interstate.
