Hreljin

Hreljin Castle (Croatian: Gradina Hreljin) is a fortress and castle near Hreljin, Croatia. It is located in the western part of Vinodol, in the hill above Bakarac, which served as its seaport. Hreljin is first mentioned in historical sources in 1225, when the Frankopan noblemen received it as a gift from the Croatian-Hungarian king Andrew II. It is one of the nine towns that signed the Vinodol Codex, one of the oldest Slavic codes, in 1288. After the Frankopans, it was owned by another noblemen family, the Zrinskis, from 1550 until the execution of Zrinskis and Frankopans in 1671. When Bakar was declared a Royal free city in 1778, Hreljin was under its rule, but already decaying. The last inhabitants were three priests who abandoned it in 1790. The old town of Hreljin was surrounded by defensive walls, which had two towers and two gates. The castle, probably the oldest part of the fortified settlement, was at the highest point of the hill, facing the Bakar Bay. A single-nave church of St. George was in the center of the settlement and had a bell tower attached to it. Next to the ruins of the church stands the Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary, dedicated in 1701.

Križišće is a village in Croatia. It is connected by the D501 highway. It is in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.Many roads go through Križišće which is where the village gets its name from. It lies very close to the Krk bridge.

Šmrika is a village in Croatia, near the Island Krk and the Krk Bridge. It's part of the Town of Kraljevica, which is part of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

Kraljevica Shipyard is a shipbuilder at Kraljevica, on the Adriatic coast of Croatia. The shipyard was founded in 1729 and is claimed to be the oldest continuously operational shipyard in the world.The shipyard has been operating under the name DALMONT d.o.o. since 1992. The government of Croatia has repeatedly attempted to privatise the shipyard, most recently in November 2010. The company was forced into bankruptcy proceedings by the Croatian government in March 2012.

Kraljevica (known as Porto Re in Italian and literally translated as "King's cove" in English) is a town in the Kvarner region of Croatia, located between Rijeka and Crikvenica, approximately thirty kilometers from Opatija and near the entrance to the bridge to the island of Krk. The population of the settlement of Kraljevica itself is 2,857 with a total of 4,618 in the area of the Town of Kraljevica, which is part of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and includes Šmrika. The town is known for its shipyard which has built a number of ships for the Croatian navy.

The Bay of Bakar is located on the Croatian Adriatic coast, within the Gulf of Kvarner. There are two towns centered on bay of Bakar: Bakar and Kraljevica. While Bakar and Kraljevica are port towns, in outback of bay of Bakar there are the industry zones and free zones of Kukuljanovo. The bay itself contains Bulk Cargo Terminal of the Port of Rijeka, handling coal, iron ore and bulk cargo. Its annual capacity is 4 million tonnes and it accommodates Capesize ships. The port facilities are planned to be expanded through construction of a car terminal in the bay.

Vrata Tunnel (Croatian: Tunel Vrata) is one of the shortest tunnels on the Croatian A6 motorway route. It is only 257 metres (843 ft) long and consists of two tunnel tubes. It is located between Oštrovica and Vrata interchanges. The tunnel is tolled within the A6 motorway closed toll collection system. There are no other toll plazas related to use of the tunnel. The tunnel was excavated by Viadukt using New Austrian Tunneling method. The tunnel was originally designed to be 325 metres (1,066 ft) long, but it was shortened due to the landslide on the western portal in the zone of contact between Paleozoic and carbonate layers. The tunnel is noteworthy since it comprises a 58-metre (190 ft) bridge spanning a cavern found during excavation.

Hreljin Vidauct is located between the Vrata and Oštrovica interchanges of the A6 motorway in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Croatia, just to the west of Tuhobić Tunnel. It is 544.85 metres (1,787.6 ft) long. The viaduct consists of two parallel structures: The first one was completed in 1995 by Hidroelektra, and the second one in 2008 by Konstruktor. The viaduct is tolled within the A6 motorway ticket system and there are no separate toll plazas associated with use of the viaduct. The viaduct was designed by Hidroelektra.

Krk Bridge (Croatian: Krčki most) is a 1,430 m (4,692 ft) long reinforced concrete arch bridge connecting the Croatian island of Krk to the mainland. Carrying over a million vehicles per year, it was the last tolled bridge in Croatia that is not part of a motorway until the removal of tolls. The longer of the bridge's two arches is the third-longest concrete arch in the world and the longest outside of China, and among the longest arches of any construction. The bridge was completed and opened in July 1980 and originally named Tito's Bridge (Croatian: Titov most) in honor of Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito, who had died two months earlier. The bridge has since been renamed Krk Bridge or Krčki most. The bridge was tolled since its opening until the removal of tolls on 15 June 2020. However, passage was toll free for Krk residents since 1999 and vehicles owned by Krk businesses since the 2000s. When the tolls were removed, passenger cars were being charged 35 kuna, southbound only.Prior to January 1st 2021, maintenance was undertaken by Autocesta Rijeka - Zagreb d.d. Due to the acquirement of ARZ by Hrvatske autoceste d.o.o. on that date, the bridge is now maintained by HAC.

Krasica is a village in Primorje, Croatia, located northeast of Bakar. The population is 1,353 (census 2011). Krasica is known for masquerade, a recognizable custom of these areas.

Tuhobić Tunnel (Croatian: Tunel Tuhobić) is one of the most significant structures on the Croatian A6 motorway route. As it is 2,143 metres (7,031 ft) long (southbound tube), Tuhobić Tunnel is the longest tunnel on the A6 motorway route. The tunnel is located at 700 metres (2,300 ft) above sea level, connecting the Gorski Kotar and Croatian Littoral regions. The tunnel is located between the Vrata and Oštrovica interchanges.Tunnel excavation started in 1996, and the first tunnel tube opened in 1997, along with some sections of Rijeka–Zagreb motorway. Since the motorway was initially executed as a semi-motorway, the second tunnel tube was not excavated for a decade — its construction started August 2006, excavation was completed in August 2007, and the completed motorway, including the second Tuhobić Tunnel tube was opened on October 22, 2008. The tunnel is tolled within the A6 motorway closed toll collection system. There are no other toll plazas related to use of the tunnel.

Drivenik Castle (Croatian: Gradina Drivenik) is a castle in the hinterland of Crikvenica and Novi Vinodolski, in the northern part of the Adriatic coast, western Croatia. The castle of Drivenik is first mentioned in 1228 as one of the co-signers of the Vinodol Code. It is near the village of Drivenik in the Vinodol region, on a high point named "Glavica", 181 metres (594 ft) above sea level. The castle sits in front of the mountain range called ‘Križišće’ opposite Driveničko polje (Drivenik field). It is in a small village of Drivenik, near a larger village of Tribalj, around 8 kilometres (5 mi) from Crikvenica. From the 13th century the castle was the seat of the district administration, and upon the arrival of the Frankopans, their deputy Dragoljub resided there in 1288. In the 16th century (1571 based on an inscription on its walls) the castle was expanded in size and in the style of Renaissance fortresses it received round towers on its corners. Then in 1577, the castle was ruled by the noble family Zrinski. The construction of the road in 1746 linked Drivenik to Novi Vinodolski and Bakar. This allowed the inhabitants to move from the hilltop down into the valley where present day Drivenik village developed along the roadway. Ultimately the castle was abandoned as an active settlement, only the church of Sveti Dujam (St. Domnius) and its cemetery remained as active properties. Near the castle is the chapel of St. Stephen, built probably at the end of the 16th century with its tower containing three bells. The church has three building phases: Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque. The church originally contained a late Gothic period 'Pieta' sculpture titled the "Mourning of Christ" and a Baroque period wood carved "Golden Altar". Today both are in the Museum of Art and Crafts in Zagreb. The chapel of St. Martin is situated at the cemetery. It has Baroque frescoes dating from the 18th century. On its wall is a fresco "Taken down from the Cross". There is the Way of the Cross with four shrines near the cemetery and at its end Calvary is marked with three high crosses dating from 1768. The cemetery also contains a monument to fallen fighters from World War II. The parish church of Sveti Dujam (St. Domnius) contains three naves and a bell-tower in the front. Originally it was built with one nave, without the open bell-tower. Sveti Dujam's bell tower was built in 1806 and the entrance beneath the bell tower was constructed in 1846. The sanctuary was decorated by Anton Cej in 1894 when the main marble altar was constructed. The church floor contains burial vaults with the remains of a prominent local family Klarić (Gaspar 1653 and Marko 1753). The church underwent partial restoration in 1968. In the nearby town of Drivenik, a monument has been erected to the famous Croatian miniaturist J.J. Klović (Julio Clovio).
