Wild (river)

Elten is a German village located in North Rhine-Westphalia. It has a population of around 4,500. Since 1975, it has been part of the town of Emmerich am Rhein. Between 1949 and 1963, Elten was part of the Netherlands (see Bakker-Schut Plan). There is a substantial minority of Dutch citizens. Hochelten is part of Elten and is situated on the Elterberg.

Spijk is a village in the eastern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Zevenaar, Gelderland, near the border with Germany. Near Spijk, the Rhine crosses the border into the Netherlands.

Lobith is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Zevenaar. Traditionally, it is said that the Rhine enters the Netherlands at Lobith, although in reality, this happens about 4 km further upstream, near Spijk.Lobith was a separate municipality for a short while between 1 March 1817 and 1 January 1818, when it became a part of Herwen en Aerdt.

Rijnwaarden (Dutch pronunciation: [rɛiɱˈʋaːrdə(n)] ) was a municipality in the province of Gelderland, in the eastern Netherlands. The Rhine enters the Netherlands at its location. Rijnwaarden was merged into the municipality of Zevenaar on 1 January 2018.

Veldhuizen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Zevenaar, on the border with Germany, about 7 km southeast of the town of Zevenaar.It was first mentioned between 1851 and 1855 as Veldhuizen, and means "(temporary) settlement in the field". A part of the hamlet is located in Germany where it's called Feldhausen. The Dutch part consists of about 15 houses.

The Spyck–Welle train ferry was a train ferry on the Rhine between Spyck on the left (southern) bank and Welle on the right bank in the lower Rhine region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was established in 1865 by the Rhenish Railway Company on the Lower Left Rhine line from Cologne to Neuss, Krefeld, Cleves, Elten, Zevenaar and the Dutch North Sea ports.

Tolkamer is a village near Lobith in the municipality of Zevenaar in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands. The village is on the border with Germany. The village was first mentioned in 1773 as Tol, and means "toll room". Otto I, Count of Guelders established a toll for traffic on the Rhine in 1224 which remained at Tolkamer until 1868. The village developed along the river bank. Around 1590, the Rhine and Waal diverged near Tolkamer which increased the importance of the village. Later, the village became a centre for brickworks.In 1920, a ship wharf was established, and a harbour was built in 1930. Tolkamer and Lobith have grown into a single urban area and are often referred to as Lobith-Tolkamer, however they remain separate villages.

Herwen en Aerdt is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It existed from 1818 to 1985, when it became part of the new municipality of Rijnwaarden.The municipality covered villages like Herwen, Aerdt, Lobith, Spijk and Tolkamer, and the surrounding area.

Schenkenschanz is a small community in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany that was incorporated into the town of Kleve (Cleves) in 1969. Schenkenschanz is site of the former Schenkenschans fortress that was of significance in the Dutch Revolt.

Babberich is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is in the municipality Zevenaar, about 3 km southeast of the centre of Zevenaar. It's located near the border with Germany. Until 1816, it was a part of the Duchy of Cleves.

Griethausen is a village and former city in the municipality of Kleve, Kreis Kleve in the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The village is located at the Griethauser Altrhein. One of the points of interest in the village is the old steelbridge across. It served the railway to Spyck–Welle train ferry.

Beek is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality Montferland, about 5 km southeast of Didam.
