Cwm Cadnant

Llandegfan (Welsh: [ɬan'dɛɡvan]; Welsh pronunciation; meaning The Church of St Tegfan) is a village on the east of island of Anglesey in Wales. It is part of the community of Cwm Cadnant. Population is around 1,580.

Hen Bentref Llandegfan, often referred to by its shortened name the old village locally is a village in the community of Cwm Cadnant, Ynys Môn, Wales, which is 128.9 miles (207.5 km) from Cardiff and 207.8 miles (334.3 km) from London. It is near Llandegfan. "Hen Bentref" in Welsh means "the old village".

Chateau Rhianfa is a Grade II*-listed hotel and former mansion in Anglesey, North Wales. Its gardens are also listed as Grade II* on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.

Ynys y Bîg is a small private island in the Menai Strait attached to the island of Anglesey (in North Wales) by a wooden bridge. The bridge runs from the grounds of a private house, itself also called Ynys y Bîg, preventing any public access. The bridge fell into disrepair but was reconstructed in 2019. The island lies about 1 mile north-east of the Menai Suspension Bridge and is part of the Glannau Porthaethwy SSSI. At mean low tide there is no water separating it from the mainland, whilst at high tide it is separate with an area of 0.7 acres. It is heavily wooded and in some years herons nest there in some numbers.

Ynys Castell (grid reference SH564727) is a small (1.6 acres at high tide) island in the Menai Strait which separates Anglesey and mainland Wales. It is an extruding piece of Precambrian schist lying to one side of the Afon Cadnant estuary. It lies between Ynys y Bîg and Ynys Gaint. There is a causeway running to the island that is covered at high tide. On the island there is a private house. Ynys Castell means Castle Island in Welsh.

The Battle of Moel-y-don was fought in 1282 as part of the conquest of Wales by Edward I. Also known as the Battle of the Bridge of Boats, it is now considered unlikely the battle site was near Moel-y-don, but farther north.

Ynys Gaint is a small island in the Menai Strait connected to the town of Menai Bridge on Anglesey by a causeway (which still exists today) and also a concrete bridge erected by Sir William Fison (a previous owner of the island) in the 1930s. Literally translated Ynys Gaint mean Kent Island. Ynys Gaint lies close to the Anglesey shore at OS reference SH561725, between Ynys Faelog and Ynys Castell. Between 1942 and 1944 the island housed a Royal Air Force air-sea rescue unit, with several high speed launches, and a small part of the island is still occupied by the MOD, housing a Royal Naval Auxiliary Service (RNXS) unit until 1994. A quasi-military presence remains on the island in the form of an Army Cadet unit and the Maritime Volunteer Service. There are also two privately owned residential properties on Ynys Gaint. One of these had a portion of its garden designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, of Portmeirion fame.

Llansadwrn (; Welsh: [ɬanˈsadʊn]; Welsh pronunciation) is a small village in the community of Cwm Cadnant in south-east Anglesey, in north-west Wales. It lies between Menai Bridge, Pentraeth and Beaumaris. It is named after the church, founded in the 6th century by Saint Saturninus, who together with his wife, is commemorated by an early Christian monument. St Sadwrn's Church is a Grade II*-listed building.The village was the birthplace of Wyn Roberts, Baron Roberts of Conwy who was a notable Conservative front-bencher for many years.Close to the village was the site of the excavations that revealed the existence of Bryn Eryr Iron Age farmstead.

Menai Bridge (Welsh: Porthaethwy; usually referred to colloquially as Y Borth) is a town and community on the Isle of Anglesey in north-west Wales. It overlooks the Menai Strait and lies by the Menai Suspension Bridge, built in 1826 by Thomas Telford, just over the water from Bangor. With a population of 3,376, it is the fifth largest town on the island. The built-up area including Llandegfan had a population of 4,958.There are many small islands near the town, including Church Island. The Menai Heritage Bridges Exhibition celebrates the Menai Suspension Bridge, built by Thomas Telford, and the Britannia Bridge, built by Robert Stephenson.

St Sadwrn's Church, Llansadwrn (; Welsh: [ɬanˈsadʊn]) is a church in the village of Llansadwrn, Anglesey, Wales. It is dedicated to the Welsh saint Sadwrn, who is commemorated in a 6th-century inscribed stone inside the church. The current building was built in 1881, on the foundations of a medieval predecessor, to a design by Henry Kennedy of Bangor. It was designated a Grade II*-listed building on 30 January 1968.

Glannau Porthaethwy is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) along the northern shore of the Menai Strait in North Wales. It is a linear designation that extends some 4 km (2.5 mi) along the shore from Britannia Bridge in the west to Craig y Don in the east. It also includes the island shorelines of Ynys Gorad Goch, Ynys Welltog, Ynys Benlas, Ynys Tysilio, Half Tide Rock, Ynys Faelog, Ynys Tobig, Ynys Gaint, Ynys Castell and Ynys y Big. It was designated in 2003, as it is the most extensive sheltered rock shore in the area between Bardsey Island and Great Orme’s Head and because it supports the greatest diversity of marine plant and animal communities.
