Jack Block Park

Seacrest Cove 2 also known as Alki Cove 2 is a local dive site in West Seattle, Washington. The site within Seacrest Park is the most popular diving location in Seattle.Cove 2 is often used as a training site for open water, navigation and other scuba classes. The site has a moderate slope leading down to depths greater than the recreational limit of 130 feet (40 meters). Because of the easily reached deep areas, technical divers also use Cove 2 for training. The site has a silty bottom, but many submerged logs, pilings and sunken boats (the Honey Bear) that are well decorated with Pacific Northwest marine life. There are restrooms in the pier building. The site has a view of the Seattle skyline across Elliott Bay. There is an exclusion zone of 150 feet around the walk-on ferry dock. Other sites (Coves 1 and 3) are just to the north and south respectively. Most parking is curbside on the street.

The Duwamish River is the name of the lower 12 miles (19 km) of Washington state's Green River. Its industrialized estuary is known as the Duwamish Waterway. In 2009, the Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center was opened on the west bank of the river as part of the tribe's reassertion of its historic rights in the area and its continuing struggle for federal recognition of tribal status.

North Admiral (or simply the Admiral District) is the oldest neighborhood in West Seattle, Washington. In the early 1900s, it was connected to Seattle by ferries and a cable car. These ferries included the paddle steamers City of Seattle and West Seattle.The North Admiral district is the location of West Seattle High School, which is adjacent to Hiawatha Playfields and Community Center, the oldest community center west of the Mississippi. North Admiral is also home to Schmitz Preserve Park, 53.1 acres of old-growth forest traversed by 1.7 miles of hiking trails. The neighborhood name implies that it is at the north end of Admiral Way S.W.; however, Admiral Way runs east and west and crosses California Avenue S.W. north of the major junction at S.W. Alaska Street and California. Thus the name North Admiral combines the orientation to The Junction with the name of the main cross street. The population of the area is approximately 22,241, based on the estimates of the U.S. Census.

Sanctuary at Admiral, also known as Sixth Church of Christ, Scientist, is an historic church edifice which has been converted to a venue for weddings and banquets and is located at 2656 42nd Avenue, Southwest, in the Admiral District of West Seattle in Seattle, Washington.

West Seattle High School (known to students as "Westside") is a comprehensive public high school in Seattle's West Seattle neighborhood that serves grades nine through twelve as part of the Seattle Public Schools.

Lockheed Shipbuilding and Construction Company (a.k.a. Lockheed Shipbuilding), was a shipyard in Seattle, Washington with Yard 1 on Harbor Island and Yard 2 at what is now Jack Block Park at Seattle Terminal 5, both at the mouth of the West Waterway of Duwamish River. Yard 1 was founded in 1898 as the Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company, the company that built Harbor Island, and it was purchased by Lockheed in 1959. Yard 2 began operation in 1943 to build ships for the US Navy. The shipyard was permanently closed in 1988; Yard 2 was sold in 1989, and Yard 1 was sold in 1997, both to Port of Seattle.

The Admiral Theatre is a movie theater and historic landmark in the North Admiral neighborhood of West Seattle, Washington, United States. It was originally a second-run theater, but has since switched to showing new releases.

Hamilton Viewpoint is a 16.9-acre (6.8 ha) public park in the West Seattle neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, United States. It was acquired by the city in 1914 and became a park 4 years later. Its namesake is Rupert L. Hamilton, a noted figure in the West Seattle community who helped establish the park. It had previously been known as West Side Park and Duwamish Head Park.

Duwamish Head is the northernmost point in West Seattle, Washington, jutting into Elliott Bay. The Duwamish called it "Low Point" or "Base of the Point" (Lushootseed: sgWudaqs). A large boulder covered with petroglyphs once lay on the beach. The Duwamish tribe was relocated to a reservation here in 1856, which at the time was referred to as Holderness Point. From 1907 to 1913 it was the site of an amusement park, Luna Park. Today Alki Beach Park extends southwestward from Duwamish Head to Alki Point; the area at the head is sometimes called "Anchor Park" due to the 5,000-pound (2,300 kg) anchor at the site. On June 19, 2020, two teens, utilizing the app, Randonautica, reported finding a suitcase along the shoreline, emitting a foul odor. The Seattle Police Department was dispatched to the scene, and the contents of the suitcase were confirmed to be human remains. The two teens then uploaded videos of their discovery of the suitcase to the popular social media app, TikTok. On June 30, the remains were identified as 35-year-old Jessica Lewis, and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Austin Wenner, both determined to have died of gunshot wounds. The deaths are being investigated as a homicide.

Elliott Bay is a part of the Central Basin region of Puget Sound. It is in the U.S. state of Washington, extending southeastward between West Point in the north and Alki Point in the south. Seattle was founded on this body of water in the 1850s and has since grown to encompass it completely. The waterway it provides to the Pacific Ocean has served as a key element of the city's economy, enabling the Port of Seattle to become one of the busiest ports in the United States.

Luna Park was an amusement park in Seattle, Washington that operated from 1907 until 1913. Designed by famed carousel carver Charles I. D. Looff, who carved and installed Coney Island's very first carousel, Luna Park took its name from Coney Island's Luna Park. On July 4, 1908, Luna Park became the site of Seattle's first manned flight.
