Papakura District

Ōpaheke railway station was a flag station serving Ōpaheke on the North Island Main Trunk in New Zealand. It was opened in 1875 and closed in 1955. It was called Hūnua until 7 January 1912 and, though it didn't appear in the 1875 timetable, Hunua was described as a small wayside station on the line's opening day. The station was first listed in the December 1875 timetable, being served by 2 trains a day, taking 92 minutes for the 21 mi (34 km) from Auckland. When the line was extended to Hamilton, Hunua gained an extra train and the schedule was cut to 79 minutes.Hunua opened on 20 May 1875, as part of the Auckland and Mercer Railway on 20 May 1875, built by Brogden & Co, when it was extended from Penrose. A limited service may have started earlier, as Brogden & Sons ran excursion trains to Drury in October 1874.The station was opposite Ōpaheke Saleyards on Ōpaheke Road, on the Hay's Farm. It was a very small sixth class station, with a shelter shed (20 ft (6.1 m) by 9 ft (2.7 m)). By 1884 there was a passenger platform with cart approach and a loading bank, and in 1894 there was a petition for a goods shed to be built. In 1891 the Coultland Brothers obtained permission to lay a tramway from the station. A suggestion was made in 1899 that a tramway could be laid between the station and Hunua coal seams. However, it seems that the Hunua Colliery only used road transport to get its coal to the railway at Papakura.The station was damaged by fire on 3 May 1956 and the rest offered for sale in May 1963.

Ōpaheke is a suburb of Auckland, in northern New Zealand. It is located to the south of Papakura, and 32 kilometres south of the Auckland CBD. The suburb is the southernmost part of the Auckland metropolitan area. The name was altered to include a macron in 2019.

The suburb makes up the southernmost part of the Auckland metropolitan area, and is located in the Manurewa-Papakura ward, one of the thirteen administrative divisions of Auckland city.

Rosehill Intermediate is a decile 3 school situated in Papakura, Auckland, catering for Years 7 and 8 students. Located approximately 30 minutes south of Auckland CBD, on the southern edge of the Auckland metropolitan area, the school draws students from a large number of schools around the area including Papakura and Manurewa. It has a growing roll and most students move on to nearby Rosehill College. The school also hosts two satellite classes for Rosehill Special School. The school community is diverse, with 31% of students identifying as Māori, and another 14% of other Pacific heritage, with approximately 16 different languages spoken in students' homes.Rosehill Intermediate's school motto is Whaia Kia Kaha – To Seek With Vigour. Drury is a rural town near Auckland, in northern New Zealand. Located 36 kilometres to the south of Auckland CBD, under authority of the Auckland Council. Drury lies at the southern border of the Auckland metropolitan area, 12 kilometres to the northeast of Pukekohe, close to the Papakura Channel, an arm of the Manukau Harbour.

Rosehill College is a New Zealand co-educational state secondary school located in the Rosehill area of Papakura in the Auckland region. The college opened on 3 February 1970, and is now the largest secondary school in the area. Located approximately 31 km south of Auckland CBD by road, on the southern edge of the Auckland metropolitan area, the college admits students residing on the western side of the Southern Auckland Railway Line in Papakura and caters the Rosehill, Pahurehure, and Opaheke area as well as students from surrounding rural areas including Te Hihi, Karaka, Drury, Ponga, Runciman, Ramarama, Ararimu, Kingseat, Waiau Pa, and Clark's Beach. The campus is also situated next to Rosehill Intermediate.

Papakura High School (PHS) is a co-educational state secondary school based in the Auckland suburb of Papakura in New Zealand, catering for students from Year 9 to Year 13. The school was established in 1954 and is now made up of a diverse student body, administering students from the greater southern Auckland area. The school is located on the southern boundary of the Auckland metropolitan area, located approximately 32 kilometres south of Auckland CBD. In 2021 a school enrolment zone was introduced and encompasses the Papakura, Clevedon and Hunua area.

Papakura railway station is a railway station in Papakura, New Zealand, on the Southern Line of the Auckland railway network.

Papakura Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Papakura, Auckland. The club was established in 1912 and is affiliated with the Counties Manukau Rugby Union. The club fields teams at both senior and junior level. Junior levels range from small blacks under 6s to competition grades to under 14s. Senior grades range from under 19s to under 21s and representatives. Papakura has won the Counties Club Rugby competition McNamara Cup on nine occasions: 1956, 1957, 1958 (shared with Waiuku), 1968, 1972, 1973, 1974 (shared with Manurewa), 1982, 1996).

The Papakura Museum is a local museum created to recognise and honour the history of Papakura, Drury, and surrounding districts. This has historically included Franklin, Manurewa, Clevedon, and Kawakawa Bay, as well as other neighbourhoods and districts nearby. The Papakura Museum is a community based museum founded by the members of the Papakura & Districts Historical Society (PDHS). The Museum's permanent exhibition focuses on local history through text, image and artefact displays. The Military Gallery focuses on local military history. Each year the Museum curates four temporary feature exhibitions that run from 2–4 months and include a variety of topics and themes.

The Sir Edmund Hillary Library (also known as Papakura Library) is a library in Auckland, New Zealand. Papakura’s first municipal library was established in 1914 when the Papakura Town Board took over a small subscription library run by the Papakura Literary Association since 1871. One of the library’s first homes was a former toll-house beside the Great South Road, but over the years the library service was moved several times until (by now known as the Sir Edmund Hillary Library) it finally moved into its present home in the Accent Point building in 2010.
