Menominee station

Built in 1902, the Menominee Opera House (later known as Menominee Theatre) resides in the Historic Waterfront District of downtown Menominee, Michigan. It was designed by well-known American architect George O. Garnsey, whose other designs include the Ogle County Courthouse in Oregon, Illinois and Queen Anne style homes such as the Ellwood House in DeKalb, Illinois.

The First Street Historic District, also known as the Main Street Historic District, is a commercial historic district in Menominee, Michigan containing over 40 structures spread over a 29 acres (12 ha) area. The district is roughly bounded by Fourth Avenue, the north side of Tenth Avenue, Second Street, and the Green Bay Shoreline; the boundaries are approximately equivalent to what is locally known as the Historic Waterfront Downtown. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1974.

Spies Public Library is a public library in Menominee, Michigan. It was built in 1903 and was funded by Agustus Spies.

WAGN (1340 AM) is a radio station licensed to Menominee, Michigan broadcasting an oldies and talk format. Formerly an affiliate of ABC Radio's OldiesRadio network, the web site dx-midAMerica reported in January 2008 that the station had dropped Oldies Radio in favor of local voicetracking with the new moniker "1340 Gold" (1). Prior to affiliating with Oldies Radio, WAGN had programmed Adult Standards as an affiliate of the Westwood One/Dial Global America's Best Music network. In late December 2008, WAGN began to simulcast its oldies format on its FM sister WHYB 103.7 FM (formerly an adult contemporary-formatted station). WAGN will launch a News/Talk format featuring hosts such as Dave Ramsey, Rush Limbaugh, and Laura Ingraham on January 5, 2009, while the Oldies format will move permanently to 103.7 FM. (1)

The Charles G. Janson Garage is a commercial structure located at 524 Tenth Avenue in Menominee, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Menominee County Courthouse is a government building located on Tenth Avenue between Eighth and Tenth Streets in Menominee, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1974.

The Menominee River is a river in northwestern Michigan and northeastern Wisconsin in the United States. It is approximately 116 miles (187 km) long, draining a rural forested area of northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan into Lake Michigan. Its entire course, with that of its tributary, the Brule River, forms part of the boundary between the two states.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, now used as the Menominee County Historical Museum, is a historic church at 904 11th Avenue in Menominee, Michigan. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1981.

Menominee ( mə-NAH-mə-nee) is a city in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,488 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Menominee County. Menominee is the fourth-largest city in the Upper Peninsula, behind Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, and Escanaba. Menominee Township is located to the north of the city, but is politically autonomous. Menominee is part of the Marinette, WI–MI micropolitan statistical area.

The Menominee North Pier lighthouse is located in the harbor of Menominee, Michigan. The station was first lit in 1877. The current structure and its still operational light was lit in 1927, and automated in 1972. It is also sometimes called the "Menominee (Marinette) North Pierhead Light".The foundation is a concrete pier. The 34-foot (10 m) tall octagonal cast iron building is marked in a distinctive red, with a black lantern and white base. A Fourth Order Fresnel lens was originally installed, but was replaced with a modern 12-inch (300 mm) acrylic optic lens. The original lens is now at Sand Point Light in Escanaba, Michigan. The focal plane is 46 feet (14 m).The building originally had a diaphone fog signal structure attached, and it was later removed. The iron catwalk was removed in 1972 when the light was automated.This light is paired with a large rear range light. That is denominated the Menominee (Marinette) North Pier light, and is also an active aid to navigation. Its focal plane 59 feet (18 m), and its characteristic is a continuous red light. The tower is a 50-foot (15 m)square pyramidal steel skeletal tower with gallery. It is painted red, and located on the Menominee North Pier about 600 feet (180 m) from the pierhead light. It may be accessed by walking the pier. The site is open, but the tower is closed. U.S. Coast Guard. USCG 7-21940.
