Saanich Pioneer Museum

Saanichton, British Columbia is a village, in the municipality of Central Saanich, located between Victoria and the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, west of the Pat Bay Highway (Hwy 17), at the junction of Mount Newton Cross Road and East Saanich Road.Saanichton hosts the Saanich Pioneer Museum dedicated to the history of settlement of the Saanich Peninsula.

The District of North Saanich is located on the Saanich Peninsula of British Columbia, approximately 25 km (16 mi) north of Victoria on southern Vancouver Island. It is one of the 13 Greater Victoria municipalities. The district is surrounded on three sides by 20 km (12 mi) of ocean shoreline, and consists of rural/residential areas and a large agricultural base. It is home to the Victoria International Airport and the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal.

Stelly's Secondary School is a public secondary school in Saanichton, British Columbia. It is located in School District 63 Saanich and teaches students in grades 9–12. Stelly's offers a wide range of academic classes and programs, as well as athletics programs and extra curricular clubs. Stelly's is known around the area for its community outreach efforts, as outlined in the Maclean's magazine article titled Canada's Best High Schools. The school is also home to The Boulders Climbing Gym.

ȽÁU,WELṈEW̱/John Dean Provincial Park, formerly John Dean Provincial Park, is a small, densely vegetated provincial park (174 hectares) on the Saanich Peninsula of southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. The park is located on and around ȽÁU,WELṈEW̱ (Mount Newton), a small mountain (elevation 305 m) in the traditional territory of Wsanec First Nations [1] , itself situated 20 km north of Victoria, the provincial capital city. Featuring lush vegetation, the park is noted for its virgin old-growth douglas-fir and western red cedar, with large specimens up to 70 m in height (taller than the tallest tree in the UK and the tallest conifer in all of Europe) and for its rich Coastal Douglas-Fir ecosystem, little of which remains on southern Vancouver Island. About a quarter of the old-growth forest to the north-west lies on the Cole Bay reserve of the Pauquachin First Nation.

Quester Tangent Corporation (QTC) is an independent North American supplier of train electronics and software for the rail transit industry. Quester Tangent designs, develops and manufactures vehicle monitoring hardware and software for the global rail transit industry, including monitoring and control products, on-train displays, communication and data networks, and passenger information systems.Quester Tangent facilities include 20,000 sq ft (1,900 m2) of working space. The company has over 6,000 sq ft (560 m2) of environmentally controlled manufacturing floor including 1,000 sq ft (93 m2) for engineering prototyping, 2,500 sq ft (230 m2) of inventory space and 3,000 sq ft (280 m2) of testing space including a full electromagnetic compatibility/electromagnetic interference (EMI/EMC) lab.

The Victoria Butterfly Gardens is located in the Greater Victoria region of Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, Canada. It is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Victoria area. The Victoria Butterfly Gardens are known for having different species of butterflies and moths in their indoor facility, as well as birds, fishes, frogs, an iguana, geckoes and tortoises, along with the newly added Insectarium. The Gardens is closed Christmas day.

The British Columbia Aviation Museum is located in Sidney, British Columbia, Canada. It is on the grounds of the Victoria International Airport at 1910 Norseman Road on the east side of the airport. The Museum consists of a display area spread over two hangars, a classroom, a restoration workshop and a gift shop. Displays include historical civilian and military artifacts including uniforms, medals and models. Aircraft are displayed and museum volunteers are constantly working on restoring new acquisitions.

Brentwood Bay is a small village in the municipality of Central Saanich, on the Saanich Peninsula in British Columbia, Canada. It lies north of the city of Victoria, east of the community of Willis Point, and south of the town of Sidney. Situated on the Saanich Inlet and the Tod Inlet, it includes the Butchart Gardens, the Victoria Butterfly Gardens and the Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa. Brentwood Bay also includes a BC Ferries dock which connects to Mill Bay. The region also plays host to various wineries and restaurants, and also features hiking and a variety of wildlife in Gowlland Tod Provincial Park. Brentwood Bay is part of the District of Central Saanich (pop. 17,385 [1]), one of the 13 municipalities that make up the Greater Victoria area (pop. 397,237 [2]). It is located on Highway 17A just west of Highway 17 (known locally as the "Pat Bay Highway"), the main route running the length of the Saanich Peninsula. It is also served frequently by the Brentwood-Mill Bay ferry, the MV Klitsa, run by BC Ferries. Originally named Sluggett after an early settler, it was renamed Brentwood Bay for the town of Brentwood, Essex.

Saanich Peninsula (Straits Salish: W̱SÁNEĆ) is located north of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It is bounded by Saanich Inlet on the west, Satellite Channel on the north, the small Colburne Passage on the northeast, and Haro Strait on the east. The exact southern boundary of what is referred to as the "Saanich Peninsula" (or simply as "the Peninsula") is somewhat fluid in local parlance. Surrounded by the Salish Sea, Saanich Peninsula is separated from Saltspring Island by Satellite Channel, Piers Island and Coal Island by Colburne Passage, and James Island by Cordova Passage in Haro Strait.

SS Iroquois was a Canadian steamboat ferry active in British Columbia, Canada. She was launched on 19 February 1900 at Port Moody. She ran from Sidney to Nanaimo, making stops at the southern Gulf Islands. In 1902, she was taken out of service, replaced by Strathcona. Three months later, Strathcona broke down, and Iroquois was returned to service.On 10 April 1911, Iroquois was overloaded with poorly secured cargo and sank in a heavy storm when the cargo shifted as she left Sidney. At least 21 people were killed and Iroquois′ captain was charged with, but acquitted of, manslaughter.In 1980, Iroquois′ propeller was salvaged. It is part of a memorial in Iroquois Park, a municipal park in Sidney.
