Åros is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the river Søgneelva between the village of Høllen to the west and Langenes to the east. The west side of Åros reaches the Høllefjorden. Åros Feriesenter is a large recreational area along the fjord. It includes a camping facility and a beach area that is a popular attraction in the summer for residents and tourists alike. Årosskogen is the main residential neighborhood in the village. As a part of the greater Søgne urban area in Kristiansand, separate population statistics are not tracked for Åros. Altogether, the 5.87-square-kilometre (1,450-acre) urban area has a population (2015) of 9,147 which gives it a population density of 1,558 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,040/sq mi).

Songdalselva or Søgneelva or Songa is a river in Agder county, Norway. The 55.3-kilometre (34.4 mi) long river in the hills between Finsland in Kristiansand municipality and Hægeland in Vennesla municipality. The 209.4-square-kilometre (80.8 sq mi) catchment area is located between the Otra river and Mandalselva river watersheds. The river runs through the villages of Hortemo, Nodeland, Volleberg, Tangvall, Åros, and Høllen. The highest hills in the catchment area go up to 450 metres (1,480 ft) above sea level. The water flows are normally at their lowest in the summer and they're at their highest levels during the autumn and spring. There are only a few small lakes in the river system. The steep slopes down from the moors can create short and intense flood rapids. The river (here called Songa) flows through the Stallemodalen valley in Vennesla, and then falls into the Songdalen valley through a gorge at Underåsen. Once in the Songdalen valley, it is called the Songdalselva. Here it receives more water from the right from the Gumpedalselva tributary. The river drops no more than about 20-meter (66 ft) over the last 20-kilometer (12 mi) to the river mouth, and has on this stretch a very meandering run. There is a short waterfall (Søgne waterfall) near the Søgne Landbruksskole. From that waterfall to the sea, the river is called the Søgneelva. The Songdalselva flows into the sea between the villages of Høllen and Åros in Kristiansand municipality. Both salmon and sea trout are found in the river, and a fishing license is required for fishing along the river.

Old Søgne Church (Norwegian: Søgne gamle kirke) is a historic parish church of the Church of Norway in Kristiansand Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the southeastern part of the village of Tangvall. It was once the main church for the Søgne parish which is now part of the Kristiansand domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, timber-framed church was built in a long church design in 1640 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 270 people. The "new" Søgne Church was built about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) to the northwest of this location in 1861 to replace this (smaller) church. Since that time, this church is no longer regularly used, but it is available for special occasions such as baptisms and weddings.

Langenes is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian County Road 456, just east of the village of Åros. The village sits on the coastline in the southeastern part of the greater Søgne area. In 2020 it became part of the municipality of Kristiansand, prior to that time it was in Søgne municipality. The Langenes Church is located in the village. As a part of the greater Søgne urban area, separate population statistics are not tracked for Langenes. It has a well-protected harbour and over the centuries has had shipyards, a post office, and it was the site of a Thing in the 1500s. There is regular ferry boat service to Ny-Hellesund from Høllen. Songvår Lighthouse (Norwegian: Songvår fyrstasjon) is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Kristiansand in Agder county, Norway. The lighthouse sits on the island of Hellersøya, about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) south of the village of Høllen. The lighthouse was first built in 1888, and in 1955 a new lighthouse was constructed. The lighthouse was closed in 2004 and replaced with a smaller automated light tower, just southeast of the existing lighthouse. The present light was built in 2004 and it sits on top of a 5-metre (16 ft) tall tower. The white, red, or green light (depending on direction) sits at an elevation of 24 metres (79 ft) above sea level. The light can be seen for up to 10.7 nmi (19.8 km; 12.3 mi). The lights are on a 3 seconds on / 3 seconds off flashing sequence. The tower is white with one red stripe on it. The previous lighthouse is still standing, but it has not been used since 2004. That lighthouse was built in 1955. It is a 10-metre (33 ft) tall tower rising from one end of the keeper's house. The building is now restored by Søgne municipality and it can be rented for overnight stays. The site is only accessible by boat. The ruins of the foundation of the 1888 (original) lighthouse can still be seen near the newer lighthouse.

Tangvall is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. It was the administrative centre of the old Søgne municipality which existed until 2020. The village is located along the European route E39 highway and the river Søgneelva. The village sits just north of Åros and Høllen, northeast of the village of Eig, and east of the village of Lunde. Together, Tangvall, Lunde, Høllen, Eig, Åros, and Langenes all form one large urban area known as Søgne. The 5.87-square-kilometre (1,450-acre) urban area has a population (2015) of 9,147 a population density of 1,558 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,040/sq mi). The Old Søgne Church is located in the southeastern part of the urban area, just north of Åros and Langenes. The "new" Søgne Church is located in Lunde. The municipal government is based in Tangvall since 1974. Prior to that time, it was located in Lunde. The municipal high school is also located here.

Eik or Eig is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located on the south side of the European route E39 highway between the villages of Lunde to the west, Tangvall to the east, and Høllen to the south. The main residential neighborhood in the village is called Eikeheia. Vaglen Beach is located just to the south of the village. The village is considered to the part of the greater Søgne urban area, so its individual population statistics are not tracked by Statistics Norway.

Søgne Church (Norwegian: Søgne hovedkirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Kristiansand Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Lunde, just west of Tangvall. It is the church for the Søgne parish which is part of the Kristiansand domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1861 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian H. Grosch. The church seats about 750 people. Inside, the church has balcony seating along all the walls leading up to the chancel. The chancel floor is raised three steps above the floor of the nave.

Volleberg is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the river Songdalselva, in former Songdalen municipality, right on the border with former Søgne municipality (pre 2020). The European route E39 highway passes by the village on its way from Nodeland and Brennåsen about 1 to 2 kilometres (0.62 to 1.24 mi) to the north and Tangvall (in Søgne) about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) to the south. The 0.32-square-kilometre (79-acre) village has a population (2016) of 560 which gives the village a population density of 1,750 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,500/sq mi). The village is primarily a residential community with people working in the nearby urban areas of Kristiansand and Søgne.

Ausviga or Ausvika is a rural area with housing estates in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The area is located along the Torvefjorden, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) west of the hamlet of Høllen and about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the hamlet of Trysnes. The 0.23-square-kilometre (57-acre) area has a population (2015) of 506, giving the area a population density of 2,200 inhabitants per square kilometre (5,700/sq mi).

Lunde is a village in Kristiansand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the European route E39 highway and along the river Lundeelva. The village is surrounded by several other villages that together form the greater Søgne urban area. The village of Lohne lies about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the west, Vedderheia lies about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) to the north, Eig lies about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) to the southeast, and Tangvall lies about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the east. The village of Ausviga lies about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the south, but it is not part of the greater Søgne urban area. The village of Lunde was the administrative centre of Søgne municipality until 1974 when it was moved to neighboring Tangvall. Lunde is also the site of the "new" Søgne Church which was built in 1861 to replace the Old Søgne Church located a few kilometers away. There is also an elementary school in Lunde. As a part of the greater Søgne urban area, separate population statistics are not tracked for Lunde.
