Kirknewton railway station

Kirknewton (Scots: Kirknewtoun, Scottish Gaelic: Eaglais a' Bhaile Ùir) is a village formerly in the county of Midlothian and, since 1975, in West Lothian, Scotland. The population of the Kirknewton Community Council district is 2200, which includes the village and surrounding areas. It lies south of the A71 from Edinburgh to Livingston, and north of the A70, the high-level road that runs along the north side of the Pentland Hills from Edinburgh to Carnwath and Lanark. Much of the village stands back from the B7031, which links the two main "A" roads. To the south-east of the village is Morton.

Kirknewton House, formerly known as Meadowbank House is a mansion house and estate on the edge of the village of Kirknewtown in West Lothian, Scotland. The house is Category B listed.

Jupiter Artland is a contemporary sculpture park and art gallery outside the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. Jupiter Artland Foundation is a registered charity that is supported by classes, workshops, events, ticket sales, and donations. It is open to general visits between May and September. Jupiter Artland sits in the grounds of Bonnington House, a 19th-century country house around 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of the city of Edinburgh. The grounds of the house have been developed as the sculpture park and two new wings designed by Benjamin Tindall Architects were completed in 2015 to provide indoor gallery space. The sculpture collection was established in 1999 by art collectors Robert and Nicky Wilson and "focuses on nurturing the work of contemporary artists and commissioning site-specific work for its 120 acres of woodland and meadow."In April 2016, Jupiter Artland was shortlisted for the 2016 Museum of the Year award.In 2018, it was a filming location for BBC Four's "Magic Numbers: Hannah Fry's Mysterious World of Maths", presented by mathematician Hannah Fry.

Bonnington House is a 19th-century country house near Wilkieston, around 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) west of the city centre of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a category A listed building.The house was built in 1622, and was the home of the Foulis Baronets of Colinton. Sir James Foulis, 2nd Baronet, served as Lord Justice Clerk from 1684 to 1688, taking the title Lord Colinton. Bonnington later passed to the Wilkies of Ormiston.The house passed from the Scott family to Hugh Cunningham, Lord Provost of Edinburgh around 1702. It is said to have been doubled in size c.1720. In 1720 the house was owned by Hugh's son, Alexander Cunningham. In 1858 the house was completely remodelled in a Jacobean style. The house and its 100-acre (40 ha) estate was bought by the present owners in 1999, and in 2001 the house was refurbished by Lee Boyd Architects. Two new wings were designed by Benjamin Tindall Architects, granted planning consent in 2010 and completed in 2015. The grounds of the house have been developed as a sculpture park, now open to the public as Jupiter Artland.

The Linburn Centre is a day centre for blinded war veterans at Wilkieston in West Lothian, Scotland, around 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) west of the city of Edinburgh. The centre is located within the estate of Linburn House, a country house which was demolished in 1955. It is operated by the charity Scottish War Blinded.

To the north-west of the village is Bonnington House, a 19th-century country house.To the north-east of the village are the remains of Hatton House, medieval home of the Lauder family, which was demolished in 1955. Linburn Park was a country house and estate in Wilkeston, located to the south of the village that was demolished in 1955. The estate is now home to the Linburn Centre, which is run by charity Scottish War Blinded. The centre provides assistance to adults who have been members of the armed forces and now have a visual impairment. Military Museum Scotland is a military history museum in Wilkieston that covers Scottish military history from the First World War to the present day.

Almondell and Calderwood Country Park is a 220-acre (0.89 km2) Country Park in Mid Calder and East Calder in West Lothian, Scotland. It is a 4 star Visitor Attraction (Visitscotland). The Park is split into two main areas, Almondell Park which comprises the Almondell estate which originally belonged to the Erskine family of Broxburn and the Calderwood estate which once belonged to the Barons of Torphichen.

East Calder is a village located in West Lothian, Scotland, about a mile east of Mid Calder and a mile west of Wilkieston. It forms part of 'the Calders (together with Mid and West Calder), three small neighbouring communities situated west of Edinburgh and south of the "New Town" of Livingston. The Nasmyth Bridge (also known as the Almondell Bridge) is a Category A Listed historic bridge and local landmark in East Calder, Scotland. Located within the Almondell and Calderwood Country Park, it was designed by Scottish painter, architect, and landscape designer Alexander Nasmyth.

The Almondell Viaduct, also known as the Camps Viaduct, is a viaduct spanning the gorge of the River Almond in Scotland, located in East Calder, West Lothian, as well as the main canal feeder taking water from the Almond to the Union Canal at Lin's Mill near Ratho The viaduct is built on nine high segmental brick arches atop rock-faced snecked rubble piers, and features rounded cut-waters in the river below.
