Memorial Hospital is a hospital located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was officially opened on January 2, 1952. Memorial Hospital is a member of The American Hospital Association, The Tennessee Hospital Association, The Catholic Hospital Association, The Chattanooga Area Hospital Council, and The Chattanooga Area Safety Council. Memorial Hospital has grown tremendously since 1952. In 1952, Memorial Hospital had 200 beds. Today, the hospital has 365 hospital beds. It has nearly doubled in size over the 62 years since it opened. Memorial is a general hospital that has a wide variety of specialties. They have surgical, cardiac, interventional, cancer, orthopedic, and general care services. Memorial is known as a leader in Cardiology. Memorial is not a teaching hospital but they are a leader in new technology.

The Battle of Missionary Ridge was fought on November 25, 1863, as part of the Chattanooga Campaign of the American Civil War. Following the Union victory in the Battle of Lookout Mountain on November 24, Union forces in the Military Division of the Mississippi under Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant assaulted Missionary Ridge and defeated the Confederate Army of Tennessee, commanded by Gen. Braxton Bragg, forcing it to retreat to Georgia. In the morning, elements of the Union Army of the Tennessee commanded by Maj. Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman attempted to capture the northern end of Missionary Ridge, Tunnel Hill, but were stopped by fierce resistance from the Confederate divisions of Maj. Gen. Patrick Cleburne, William H.T. Walker, and Carter L. Stevenson. In the afternoon, Grant was concerned that Bragg was reinforcing his right flank at Sherman's expense. He ordered the Army of the Cumberland, commanded by Maj. Gen. George Henry Thomas, to move forward and seize the Confederate line of rifle pits on the valley floor, and stop there to await further orders. The Union soldiers moved forward and quickly pushed the Confederates from the first line of rifle pits, but were then subjected to a punishing fire from the Confederate lines up the ridge. At this point, the Union soldiers continued the attack against the remaining lines, seeking refuge near the crest of the ridge (the top line of rifle pits was sited on the actual crest rather than the military crest of the ridge, leaving blind spots). This second advance was taken up by the commanders on the spot, but also by some of the soldiers who, on their own, sought shelter from the fire further up the slope. The Union advance was disorganized, but effective, finally overwhelming and scattering what ought to have been, as General Grant himself believed, an impregnable Confederate line. In combination with an advance from the southern end of the ridge by divisions under Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker, the Union Army routed Bragg's army, which retreated to Dalton, Georgia, ending the siege of Union forces in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Ridgeside is a city in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 390 at the 2010 census and estimated to be 432 in 2018. Ridgeside is an enclave, as it is completely surrounded by the city limits of Chattanooga. It is part of the Chattanooga, TN–GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ridgeside's name is derived from its location on the eastern slope (side) of Missionary Ridge. Locally, the city is also known as Shepherd Hills, after the bigger of its two subdivisions, the other being Crescent Park.

The McCallie School is a boys college-preparatory school located on Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States. The school was founded in 1905 and now has 250 boarding students in grades 9–12 and 669 day students in grades 6–12.

The Seamour and Gerte Shavin House is a Frank Lloyd Wright designed Usonian home in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Asbury United Methodist Church, originally Highland Park Methodist Episcopal Church, is a historic church on Bailey Avenue in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The congregation was organized in 1889 as the Highland Park Methodist Episcopal Church. The congregation soon moved into a new frame church that it used for about 20 years before completing the current building. The current church building is a brick structure in a Gothic design created by architect Reuben Harrison Hunt. It was completed in 1909, dedicated in 1911, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.Highland Park Methodist Episcopal Church changed its name to Asbury Methodist Church in 1938, when the Methodist Episcopal Church and Methodist Episcopal Church, South, merged. It later added "United" to its name when the United Methodist Church was formed. Another local congregation with a similar name, Highland Park Methodist Episcopal Church, South, became St. Andrew's Methodist Church and later St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. Asbury United Methodist Church closed on July 1, 1984. Its congregation merged with Brainerd United Methodist Church and the church property was sold to Highland Park Baptist Church, which renamed the former Asbury Methodist building as the "Asbury Chapel". St. Andrew's closed in 2004. When Highland Park Baptist Church relocated to Harrison, Tennessee, in 2013, it sold Asbury Chapel and six other buildings in the Highland Park neighborhood to Redemption Point Church, a Church of God congregation based in Ooltewah.

WLMR (1450 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a religious format. Licensed to Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States, the station serves the Chattanooga area. The station is currently owned by Wilkins Communications Network, Inc. and features programming from USA Radio Network. In the early 1980s, the station was automated and played country music from studios in a strip mall on Brainerd Rd. It was also Chattanooga's first talk radio station when it held the WZRA call sign. WZRA was the first home of Jeff Styles, and also featured well known personalities such as Kelly McCoy and Robert T. Nash.

Tennessee Temple University was a private Christian university in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Operating there, also, was Temple Baptist Seminary, the university's graduate school of Christian theology. The university merged with Piedmont International University in 2015.

WJOC "Bible Talk Chattanooga (1490 AM, "AM 1490") is a radio station broadcasting a talk format. Licensed to Chattanooga, Tennessee, United States, the station serves the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. The station is currently owned by Sarah Margarett Fryar. The station was WDXB from 1948–1989. In the 1960s through the early 1980s it was one of Chattanooga's most popular Top-40 stations and featured popular personalities Chickamauga Charlie or "Chicky Poo", who later went to WGOW, and Johnny Walker, who later went to WKGN in Knoxville. In the 1980s it aired multiple formats. Everything from country to punk rock, even blues was heard on the station during this time. In 1989 the owners sold to the station to Chattanooga Lookouts play-by-play announcer Larry Ward. Under Larry's direction the station became WJOC, Chattanooga's first all-sports station. However, the format was short-lived, and in 1993 WJOC was sold to its current owner and adopted its current talk radio/religious format. In 1999, WJOC became the first radio station in the Chattanooga Market to stream it's audio world wide on the internet.

Highland Park is a neighborhood in the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee. It originally was a small city developed between the late 19th century and the mid-20th century. It is located two miles east of downtown Chattanooga, and bounded by Willow and Holtzclaw streets on the east and west, and McCallie and Main streets on the north and south. It was incorporated in 1905. Later, when it was incorporated into the City of Chattanooga in 1929, it grew to become a popular middle-class suburb with access to multiple train lines. As employment and much downtown property value in Chattanooga declined throughout the 1970s, Highland Park did as well, but it has had significant recent success due to its proximity to the downtown, its vibrant neighborhood association, and many newly renovated historic houses.
