66 Old Church Street, Chelsea

Old Church Street is a street in London, England in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.[1] It runs from Chelsea Embankment to Fulham Road, crossing Kings Road. The section to the north of Kings Road is sometimes called Upper Old Church Street. At the Chelsea Embankment end is Chelsea Old Church (All Saints) which gives its name to the whole street, the oldest in Chelsea. It was mentioned in 1566, but was called Church Lane at that time. The recording studios, Sound Techniques, was at 46a Old Church Street from 1964 to 1972. It was here that Nick Drake recorded his first album "Five Leaves Left". Pink Floyd, Sandy Denny, Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, Pentangle, John Martyn, Beverley Martyn, Richard Thompson, Martin Carthy, Judy Collins, John Cale, The Yardbirds and The Who also recorded here.

The Chelsea Arts Club is a private members club at 143 Old Church Street in Chelsea, London with a membership of over 3,800, including artists, sculptors, architects, writers, designers, actors, musicians, photographers, and filmmakers. The club was established on 21 March 1891 (in Chelsea), as a rival to the older Arts Club in Mayfair, on the instigation of the artist James Abbott McNeill Whistler, who had been a (sometimes controversial) member of the older club. During its primary season from September–June the Chelsea Arts Club serves as a host for many functions, from instrumental and choral performances to visual arts exhibitions, literary talks, and weekend artist lunches. Applicants for membership need to be sponsored by two current Members. The club is located in the former Bolton Lodge, a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England.

Cohen House is a private house on Old Church Street in Chelsea, London. It was designed and built in 1935–1936 by the architects Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff for the Cohen family. It adjoins the house at 66 Old Church Street built at the same time by Walter Gropius and Maxwell Fry for a cousin of the Cohen's.The latter house has been altered beyond recognition but by comparison Cohen House is well preserved. The large conservatory, to the design of Norman Foster, was added at the south end of the house in the 1970s for Sir Paul Hamlyn. The house and its immediate neighbour were prominent modernist housing in a city still then largely untouched by Modern architecture. It 1970 it was listed Grade II* on the National Heritage List for England.

Chelsea Common was the ground of Chelsea Cricket Club in the 18th century, an area that virtually disappeared under building work in the 19th century.Records have survived of five matches between 1731 and 1789 which either involved the Chelsea club or were played on the common. The first, played on the common for the high stake of 50 guineas, was Chelsea v Fulham in July 1731. In August 1736 there was an inter-county match on the common between Middlesex and Surrey. The stake was 50 guineas and Middlesex won by 9 runs.

It lies in the area between King's Road and Fulham Road, between Old Church Street and Dovehouse Street, with Manresa Road off the south side, and South Parade running along its north side. The Fulham Road Jewish Cemetery (also called Fulham Cemetery and formerly known as the Brompton Jewish Cemetery) is a Jewish cemetery on Fulham Road in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. A locked door on the Fulham Road serves as the entrance to the cemetery, otherwise it is not visible from the street. The cemetery is overlooked by the blocks of flats that surround it. Ash and plane trees are planted at the cemetery, which is 1 acre (0.40 ha) in size. It has been described as a "tiny" cemetery that is "totally unexpected in the Fulham Road" and creates an impression "more typical of Prague than London".The cemetery is owned by the Western Charitable Foundation, and is open only by appointment.

Trafalgar Studios were a set of purpose-built artists' studios on in Manresa Road in the Chelsea area of London, England, just off the King's Road. A number or notable artists worked there. The three-story, 15-unit block was built in 1878 by John Brass.They were the first such studios in London, but further blocks were built nearby, attempting to emulate their success.

Carlyle Square is a garden square off the King's Road in London's Chelsea district, SW3. The square was laid out on market gardens and was originally called Oakley Square. It was later named in honour of the writer Thomas Carlyle in 1872.The garden at the centre of the square was the site of the annual summer party held by the broadcaster David Frost. The party attracted many notable people from British and international society, politics and broadcasting, and was described by the Daily Telegraph in 2008 as "an important fixture for the London media and political party season".1, 2 and 3, and 40, 41 and 42 Carlyle Square are listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England in two groups.

Mallord Street is a street in London, England in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It was named after Joseph Mallord William Turner who had lived in Chelsea. There are no other streets named Mallord Street in Great Britain.Mallord Street is parallel to the King's Road and runs from Old Church Street to The Vale. It was created in 1909 when The Vale was extended northwards, and Mallord Street and Mulberry Street were added to link it with Old Church Street. Renumbering took place in 1924.Nine of the houses in the street are listed Grade II by Historic England and there have been several notable residents, including the author A. A. Milne and the artist Augustus John.

The Vale is a street in Chelsea, London. It runs roughly north to south, from a junction with Elm Park Road and Elm Park Gardens (effectively its northern continuation) to a t-junction in the south where it meets the King's Road. In December 2022, it was reckoned to be the eighth most expensive street in England.Most of the west side, 3-29 The Vale is grade II listed. This includes no 27, The Russian House, the facade of which is a Russian dacha built for a "turn-of-the-century exhibition" at The Crystal Palace between 1890 and 1900, then bought by the architect F. E. Williams, then relocated, transformed and extended from c. 1911 to c. 1913. It was listed for sale in 2016 at £16 million.Henry Tonks, the artist and surgeon lived at no 1 from 1910 until his death in 1937. His 1928–1929 painting Saturday Night in the Vale was bought by Sir William Orpen in 1929 and bequeathed to Tate in 1932. It depicts George Moore reading aloud from his novel Aphrodite in Aulis to an audience of St John Hutchinson, his wife Mary Hutchinson, Philip Wilson Steer, and Tonks.
