The Thames Down Link is a 24 km (15 mi) official walking route linking the Thames Path and the North Downs Way. It starts in the town centre of Kingston upon Thames and finishes at Box Hill & Westhumble railway station.

The Epsom Cluster, also referred to as the Horton Estate, was a cluster or group of five large psychiatric hospitals situated on land to the west of Epsom.The hospitals were built by the London County Council to alleviate pressure on London's existing lunatic asylums, which had by this time become overcrowded. The County Council continued to manage them until they were nationalised, becoming part of the National Health Service in 1948. The cluster comprised: Horton Hospital Long Grove Hospital Manor Hospital St Ebba's Hospital West Park HospitalThe Horton Light Railway transported building supplies and then coal and provisions to the hospitals in the cluster. The cluster was served by a central cemetery on the corner of Hook Road and Horton Lane until 1955 and a central waterworks and power station until the arrival of mains services.

Horton Hospital, formerly called Horton Asylum, was a large psychiatric hospital in the Horton area of Epsom, Surrey.

Horton is a semi-rural area with a village centre in the west of the borough of Epsom and Ewell, in the English county of Surrey. It is situated between the settlements of Epsom, West Ewell, Chessington and Malden Rushett. Its principal road is Horton Lane, which runs the length of the area between West Ewell and Epsom Common. Horton covers the west part of the KT19 postcode which comes under part of the Epsom postal area. Horton Country Park also runs along the length of the area, between Epsom Common and West Ewell. The place-name Horton is relatively common in England. It derives from Old English horu 'dirt' and tūn 'settlement, farm, estate', presumably meaning 'farm on muddy soil'. It gave its name to the Horton Light Railway which served a number of the psychiatric hospitals in the area during the 20th century, collectively known as the Epsom Cluster. Since the start of the 21st century, Horton has undergone rapid change. The hospitals which made up the Epsom Cluster closed as Care in the Community took over from inpatient care. Multiple housing estates including Manor Park were constructed on the site, in addition to a number of shops in the centre of the area. In 2022, Horton was made a ward in its own right of Epsom and Ewell due to the population increase in the area.

Kingswood House School is a private school in Epsom, Surrey in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1899 and moved to its present site in West Hill in 1920. In September 2021 it opened its doors to girls and became co-educational from Reception to GCSE (16 years). The School is a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and Society of Heads - with a current roll of approximately 250 pupils. Popular destinations for its leavers each year are Epsom College, St. John's School, Leatherhead, and City of London Freemen's School. One of the unique traditions upon leaving Kingswood House School, is each leaver may engrave their name on a brick on the outside of the main school building. The School holds a number of Open Mornings throughout the year - in February, May and October. In 2016, the school added a new Senior Department, for boys aged 13 to 16. In 2018, the school started work on a new planned senior block to be completed by September. The building was officially opened in March 2019 with the building being named after former headmaster, Peter Brooks. The DT Room had a refit in Autumn 2019 and a new Astro turf and teaching hub were completed in September 2021 alongside enhanced facilities for girls now attending the school. A 'Finalist' in prestigious Independent School of the Year Awards 2021 (awaiting results...) In addition to the sporting life of the school, pupils compete in external competitions.The school took part in a national competition for environmental problem solving sponsored by the World Wide Fund for Nature

Long Grove Hospital, formerly Long Grove Asylum was a mental hospital, part of the Epsom Cluster of hospitals in the Horton area of Epsom, Surrey in the United Kingdom.

Epsom Common is a 177.4-hectare (438-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Epsom in Surrey. It is owned and managed by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council. It is part of Epsom and Ashtead Commons, a Site of Special Scientific Interest.This is a nationally important wildlife location because it is a breeding site for birds. Moreover, insects endemic to the area depend on the dead wood on location. Other fauna include roe deer, herons and purple emperor butterflies. Additionally, there are flora such as common spotted orchids and southern marsh orchids.The Thames Down Link long distance footpath from Kingston upon Thames to Box Hill & Westhumble station runs through the common.

West Park Hospital (sometimes erroneously referred to as West Park Asylum) was a large psychiatric hospital in Epsom, Surrey.

Horton Country Park is a 152.3-hectare (376-acre) Local Nature Reserve north-west of Epsom in Surrey. It is owned and managed by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council.The park is a wooded recreation and amenities area occupying the east of a narrow upland watershed between two tributaries. As such, the summit being the parish divide, it is in traditional terms, within Epsom parish and occupies land due west of the town, and due east of the semi-rural, semi-urban London district of Chessington.Part of the area is occupied by Hobbledown Children's Farm, which contains various folkloric themed adventure playgrounds and a small zoo hosting domestic farm animals, and exotics such as meerkat, nilgai, emu and Bactrian camel. The farm is not open to adults without children. The Horton Light Railway used to run through this land from Ewell West railway station to the five psychiatric hospitals owned by the London County Council, known as the Epsom Cluster. Parts of the landscaped grounds of these hospitals have now been incorporated into the country park. The Thames Down Link long-distance footpath from Kingston upon Thames to Box Hill & Westhumble station passes through the park.

The Horton Light Railway had its origins in a contractor's line (the Ewell & Long Grove Railway) built in 1905 to transport building materials, coal and other supplies for London County Council's Epsom Cluster of psychiatric hospitals in the Horton area to the North-West of the town of Epsom. The Light Railway Order did not permit the carriage of passengers. The railway connected with the mainline network just south of Ewell West railway station.

Epsom and Ewell Cottage Hospital is a small hospital in West Park Road, Horton Lane, Epsom, Surrey. It is managed by CSH Surrey.

Rosebery School is an all-girls school located in Epsom, Surrey. It consists of a lower school for those aged between 11 and 16, and a sixth form for those aged between 16 and 18. The school has academy status. It is situated close to the A24, and is a 10 to 15-minute walk from Epsom town centre and Epsom railway station.
