Stuarts Draft High School

Harper House is a historic home located at Stuarts Draft, Augusta County, Virginia. The house was built about 1888, and is a two-story, brick dwelling with a metal-sheathed hip roof with a bracketed cornice and a one-story front porch on highly decorative wood supports in the Italianate style. It has a two-story rear ell. Also on the property are a contributing meathouse, workshop, garage, windmill support, and granary.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Stuarts Draft is a census-designated place (CDP) in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. It is part of the Staunton–Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area and adjacent to the South River. Its population was 12,142 as of the 2020 census.Stuarts Draft has a history as an agricultural community, dating back to the 1730s. Today, the community also includes a processing and manufacturing cluster that includes Hershey, Hollister, McKee Foods, NIBCO, and a Target Corporation Distribution Center. As one writer notes, "A visitor to Stuarts Draft can see these imposing plants with cattle grazing in a nearby field..."

The South River is one of the two main tributaries of the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. It begins south of Waynesboro, Virginia, and flows northward to Port Republic, where it merges with the North River to form the South Fork. The river is 52.6 miles (84.7 km) long.

The Blue Ridge Mountains cross the western and southwestern parts of the state. The state's central region lies predominantly in the Piedmont. Eastern Virginia is part of the Atlantic Plain. The Middle Peninsula forms the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Virginia's history begins with several Indigenous groups, including the Powhatan. In 1607, the London Company established the Colony of Virginia as the first permanent English colony in the New World. Virginia's state nickname, the Old Dominion, is a reference to this status. Slave labor and land from displaced native tribes fueled the growing plantation economy, but also fueled conflicts both inside and outside the colony. Virginia was one of the original Thirteen Colonies in the American Revolution and several key battles were fought there during that war. More major battles were fought in Virginia during the American Civil War, which split the state as the government in Richmond joined the Confederacy, but many northwestern counties remained loyal to the Union, which led to the separation of West Virginia from the state in 1863. Although the state was under one-party rule for nearly a century following the Reconstruction era, both major political parties have been competitive in Virginia since the repeal of Jim Crow laws in the 1970s. Virginia's state legislature is the Virginia General Assembly, which was established in July 1619, making it the oldest current law-making body in North America. It is made up of a 40-member Senate and a 100-member House of Delegates. Unlike other states, cities and counties in Virginia function as equals, but the state government manages most local roads inside each. It is the only state where governors are prohibited from serving consecutive terms. Virginia's economy is diverse. The Shenandoah Valley has a strong agricultural sector. Northern Virginia has high technology companies and U.S. federal government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense and Central Intelligence Agency, while Hampton Roads, the site of the region's main seaport, has a significant military sector.

The Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, is a Presbyterian church founded in 1740, and is the oldest Presbyterian congregation in the Valley of Virginia (the Shenandoah Valley). Its historic building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The church's first building was a log structure built during 1742–1748. Much of the cost of the original meeting house was underwritten by Colonel James Patton. It took nearly three years to finish, with some controversy between Patton and his uncle John Lewis over where it was to be located. The first service was held there on 14 April 1745, when the Reverend John Craig wrote: "This being the first day we meet at the contentious meeting-house, about half-built." The log structure was replaced by a stone building in 1790.: 81  Its 1850 Greek Revival building is its third building, and is significant architecturally for being designed by Robert Lewis Dabney who served as pastor there from 1852–1857. This Greek Revival building, along with two other churches designed by Dabney, is credited with influencing ecclesiastical architecture in Virginia. Dabney designed at least two other NRHP-listed churches, Briery Church, in Briery, Virginia, and New Providence Presbyterian Church, near Brownsburg, Virginia.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Shenandoah Acres is a campground/resort in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. It was previously known as Shenandoah Acres Resort, but after decades of operation, 'The Acres' closed in 2004. Then, following a couple of ownership changes, it reopened in 2014 as Shenandoah Acres Family Campground. The most visible aspect of Shenandoah Acres is its small, spring-fed lake that was unique for its use of playground equipment in the water. Shenandoah Acres also featured 250 camp sites, 35 cabins, horseback riding, miniature golf, and tennis courts.

Christians Creek is a 33.0-mile-long (53.1 km) stream in Augusta County in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is a tributary of the Middle River, part of the Shenandoah River system flowing to the Potomac River.

Cowbane Prairie Natural Area Preserve is a 147-acre (59 ha) Natural Area Preserve located in Augusta County, Virginia, along the western slope of the Blue Ridge in the Shenandoah Valley. It preserves both mesic and wet prairie habitats, as well as a calcareous spring-fed marsh; these areas contain eleven regionally rare plants such as queen-of-the-prairie, blueflag iris, and marsh-speedwell. Although common in the Midwest, these plants occur only at a handful of sites in Virginia.The preserve is owned and maintained by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation. It does not include improvements for public access, and visitors must make arrangements with a state-employed land steward prior to visiting.

Augusta Health, formerly Augusta Medical Center, is a hospital in Fishersville, Virginia. It serves Augusta County, Virginia, as well as the cities of Staunton and Waynesboro. It is located near I-64. Augusta Medical Center was formed in 1994 as a consolidation of Kings Daughters Hospital in Staunton, and Waynesboro Community Hospital in Waynesboro. Augusta Medical Center changed its name to Augusta Health in June 2009.The campus went tobacco-free in 2009. Augusta Health has a member only gym. It provides cardio, weight lifting, inside and outside tennis courts, basketball, track, pool, and spa for its members. Many classes are offered including wellness and fitness programs. In March 2013 it opened a new $32 million cardiovascular center which is a 67,000-square-foot facility offering nuclear stress-testing machines and two heart catheterization labs. The hospital completed an expansion of its emergency department in November 2019, with major donations of around $2.13 million.

Ladd is an unincorporated community in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. Ladd is located just outside the independent city of Waynesboro, Virginia and inside Augusta County. Founded in 1854, the only notable buildings of Ladd left as of 2005 are the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (built 1854), the General Store, and two homes dating to the early 1900s.

Chapel Hill is a historic home located near Mint Spring, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built about 1834, and is a two-story, three-bay, brick I-house dwelling in the Federal style. The front facade features a central pedimented pavilion with an elliptical fanlight over the doorway and another in the pediment. The interior features French scenic wallpaper, graining and marbleizing. Also on the property are the contributing frame office with some Gothic details, a pyramidal-roofed frame smokehouse, and a gable-roofed dairy.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Lyndhurst is a census-designated place (CDP) in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,490 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Staunton–Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area.
