Le Golf National

The 42nd Ryder Cup Matches were held in France from 28 to 30 September 2018 on the Albatros Course of Le Golf National in Guyancourt, a suburb southwest of Paris. It was the second Ryder Cup to be held in Continental Europe (rather than Great Britain or Ireland), after the 1997 contest, which was held in Spain. The United States were the defending champions, but had lost the last five matches in Europe, having last won there in 1993. Europe regained the Ryder Cup, winning by 171⁄2 points to 101⁄2.

The Open de France is a European Tour golf tournament. Inaugurated in 1906 it is the oldest national open in Continental Europe and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since the tour's inception in 1972. The 100th edition of the event was held in 2016. The 2022 edition will take place between 22 and 25 September on the Golf National course. There will be €3 million of prize fund. Last edition played was the 2019 tournament, won by Nicolas Colsaerts. Originally played at La Boulie, the tournament has been hosted by many different venues, but since 1991, it has been held at the Le Golf National near Paris every year except for 1999 and 2001. Since the turn of the millennium, the Fédération Française de Golf has made a concerted effort to enhance the stature of the event. In 2004 qualifying tournaments were introduced on the model of those for The Open Championship and the U.S. Open and were open to professionals and amateurs. The prize fund rose from €865,000 in 1999 to €4 million from 2006 to 2009, putting the Open de France in the top group of European Tour events (excluding the majors and the World Golf Championships, which are co-sanctioned by the U.S.-based PGA Tour). The prize fund was €3 million in 2015 and €3.5 million in 2016. It rose to US$7,000,000 in 2017 after joining the new Rolex Series. However the main sponsor of 2017 and 2018 editions: HNA decided to cancel its budget. In 2019, the tournament took place in October. Since then it has no longer been a Rolex Series event. From 2014 to 2018, it was one of the Open Qualifying Series events for The Open Championship with the leading three (four in 2016) players, who had not already qualified, qualifying for the Open. With a new sponsor for 2022 (Cazoo) the prize fund was €3,000,000.

Guyancourt (French: [ɡɥi.jɑ̃.kuʁ] ) is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is located in the south-western suburbs of Paris, 21.2 km (13.2 mi) from the center of Paris, in the "new town" of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Voisins-le-Bretonneux (French pronunciation: [vwazɛ̃ lə bʁətɔnø] ) is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is located in the south-western suburbs of Paris 24.1 km (15.0 mi) from the centre in the new town of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Châteaufort (French pronunciation: [ʃɑtofɔʁ]) is a commune in the Yvelines department in Île-de-France in north-central France. It is located 9 km (5.6 mi) south of Versailles, and 27 km (17 mi) southwest of Paris. Châteaufort inhabitants are named Castelfortain. The commune is named after the existence of three fortified castles during the Middle Ages; indeed, château fort means "fortified castle" in French. On August 19, 1913, ahead of the Châteaufort aerodrome, the French aviator Adolphe Pégoud became the first man to jump from a plane using a parachute. The jump was made from a Blériot plane 200 m above the ground. In the 20th century, Farman Aviation Works was headquartered in Châteaufort.

Milon-la-Chapelle (French pronunciation: [milɔ̃ la ʃapɛl]) is a commune in the Yvelines department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. As of 2020, it is the commune with the third highest median per capita income (€52,650 per year) in France.

Prost Grand Prix was a Formula One racing team owned and managed by four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost. The team participated in five seasons from 1997 to 2001.

The Batterie de Bouviers is located in the commune of Guyancourt, Yvelines, France. It is a former fortification built beginning in 1879 and occupied by the army until 1932. From 1933 it was leased by the Hispano Suiza company as a factory, surrounded by other industrial structures. The site was abandoned by Hispano Suiza in 1990, and was sold by the Ministry of Defense in 1999. In 2006 the battery became the "Cafe Musiques", surrounded by office buildings and a music school.

The Arcades du Lac, built in 1981, is an ensemble of apartment buildings in the outer Paris ville nouvelle of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France, near Versailles. The mixed suburban housing and HLM complex was designed by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura as the centerpiece of an urban composition, with the central portion "Le Viaduc" jutting into an artificial lake from the shore. The design was inspired by the Pont d'Avignon, Château de Chenonceau and the Aqueduct of Segovia.The entire project was described by architecture critic Charles Jencks as an adaptation of Versailles as a "Versailles for the people" while noting influences of Claude Nicolas Ledoux in the detailing of the elevations. Bofill's design intention was to offer a contrast between the new housing of the 1970s and 1980s and the earlier Le Corbusier-inspired housing projects of the 1950s and 1960s.

The Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Observatory is an astronomical observatory affiliated with the Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University. Built in Guyancourt, France in 2009, it focuses on the fields of climate change and sustainable development.

Lycée Descartes de Montigny le Bretonneux is a senior high school located in the Sourderie area, in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Yvelines, France, in the Paris metropolitan area. It opened in 1980 with 60 students, and at the time it was integrated with the Collège Hélène Boucher junior high school. As of autumn 2014 it had 940 students.
