The Kyaikkasan Race Course (Burmese: ကျိုက္ကစံမြင်းပြိုင်ပွဲကွင်း) is a 147-acre (59 ha) historic former horse racing venue located on South Race Course Road in Tamwe Township, Yangon, Myanmar. Originally established as the Rangoon Turf Club, the racecourse was a major colonial-era institution and one of the few racially inclusive social clubs of its time.

The district was created in 2022, being one of the new districts created from the former West Yangon District. The Maha Bandula Bridge connects the western historic half with the eastern half of the district across the Pazundaung Creek.

Founded in 1959, Thaketa is made up largely of middle-class and working-class neighborhoods. 5 South Korean companies have teamed up to build a 500-megawatt gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Thaketa Township to supply electricity to Thilawa Special Economic Zone.

Basic Education High School No. 4 Tamwe (Burmese: အခြေခံ ပညာ အထက်တန်း ကျောင်း အမှတ် (၄) တာမွေ), also known as BEHS No. 4 Tamwe, is a public girls' school in Tamwe Township, Yangon, Myanmar. Originally, it was a Catholic school named St. Francis Girls' School, but it later became a secular school. The school is located immediately next to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Yangon. Beside the church is Basic Education High School No. 5 Tamwe.

Mahāsantisukha Buddha Sasana Center (Burmese: မဟာသန္တိသုခ ဗုဒ္ဓသာသနာပြုကျောင်းတော်ကြီး) is a Theravada Buddhist monastery located in Natchaung Ward, Tamwe Township, Yangon, Myanmar. The monastery was inaugurated on 17 December 1999, and was spearheaded under the leadership of Pannavamsa, and sponsored with the support of the Burmese government.

Basic Education High School No. 5 Tamwe (Burmese: အခြေခံ ပညာ အထက်တန်း ကျောင်း အမှတ် (၅) တာမွေ; commonly known as Tamwe 5 High School) is a public high school in Tamwe Township, Yangon, Myanmar. It used to be a Christian school when Burma was a British colony. Even before the school was nationalized, It has been a boys' school since establishment. The high school was formerly known as St. Francis Boys' School, and is located still to this day beside St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Yangon. Next to the church is Basic Education High School No. 4 Tamwe, which was once also a Christian school.

National Indoor Stadium (1), Thuwunna is a modern indoor stadium located in Yangon, Myanmar. It is the largest indoor sports stadium in Myanmar, with a capacity of 10,825 people and located near Thuwunna Stadium.

Pazundaung Market (Burmese: ပုဇွန်တောင်ဈေး) is a major public market located in Pazundaung Township, Yangon, Myanmar. The market opened on 8 May 1958, and houses 1,938 shops in an area measuring 5.848 acres (2.367 ha). It serves as eastern Yangon's major municipal market. The market is a major rice distribution hub for rice brokers. An informal street market has emerged near the market, on Kwetthit Street.
