Verdun Natatorium

The Douglas Mental Health University Institute (French: Institut universitaire en santé mentale Douglas; formerly the Douglas Hospital and originally the Protestant Hospital for the Insane) is a Canadian psychiatric hospital located in the borough of Verdun in the city of Montreal, Quebec. It is also a teaching hospital affiliated with McGill University.

The Great War Memorial Hall now Islamic Centre of Montreal is an historic building in the Verdun neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located on rue de Verdun across from Verdun borough hall and Verdun station. From its opening in 1929 to 2012, it was owned by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. The building was then sold to the Islamic Centre of Montreal, which has used the space as a mosque and community centre. The hall's design and construction were overseen by Montreal architect Frank R. Foster on land supplied by Verdun mayor J.A.A Leclair. The cornerstone was laid on April 20, 1929, and it officially opened on October 6, 1929, with a ceremony including Governor-General Freeman Freeman-Thomas, 1st Marquess of Willingdon. Verdun, then an independent city, was a booming street suburb of Montreal, and approximately 20% of male residents were veterans of World War I.

It is located on Wellington Street. The De L'Église station is named for the church. It was designed by Montreal architect Joseph Venne and completed in 1911.

Heron Island is a small island of approximately 129 acres in the Saint Lawrence River and part of Sainte-Catherine, Quebec, Canada. The northern tip of the island is located in the Lachine rapids. It is one of "Saint-Laurent, Vision 2000" 37 protected sites. In 2002, Hydro Quebec donated the land to The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) which manages the site as a wildlife reserve.

The Canal de l'Aqueduc is an open-air aqueduct canal on the Island of Montreal in Quebec, Canada, serving part of the drinking water needs of the city of Montreal. The canal was built in 1853 by a commission headed by City Councillor Edwin Atwater. The adjacent Atwater Avenue is named after him. The canal draws water from the Saint Lawrence River on the southernmost shore of the island in the borough of LaSalle, in the Lachine Rapids downstream of the Honoré Mercier Bridge. It then runs northeasterly, through LaSalle and then between the boroughs of Verdun and Le Sud-Ouest, finally ending at a City of Montreal pumping station and underground reservoir on av. Atwater just south of the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood. At this point the canal passes within 300 metres of the Lachine Canal. The canal is approximately 8100 metres in length and varies between 35 and 50 metres in width (approximate). The canal is lined with wetland along its route, and although the canal itself is fenced off, a linear park and bicycle path runs along its southern bank. Boul. de La Vérendrye and Boul. Champlain, major streets, run along its northern and southern banks respectively, with the Autoroute 15 running along the end nearest the pumping station.
