William E. Boeing House

The Highlands is a gated community founded in 1907 adjacent to Seattle, Washington's Broadview neighborhood, 12 mi (19 km) north of Downtown Seattle. In 1995 The Highlands became part of the city of Shoreline. The neighborhood has been the home to the Boeing, Nordstrom, Pigott and Stimson families. Access to the community is through a security gate which is west of North 145th Street and Greenwood Avenue North.

Boeing Creek and Shoreview Park is an 88-acre (360,000 m2) park system within Shoreline, Washington. The two parks share an internal border and both border Shoreline Community College. Boeing Creek Park mainly consists of forested areas. Shoreview Park contains recreational facilities including tennis courts, baseball and soccer fields and an off-leash dog area. The upper portion of Boeing Creek flows along the western edge of Boeing Creek and Shoreview Park.

Boeing Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Washington, located in the city of Shoreline, just north of Seattle. It is about 1.6 miles (2.6 km) long and empties into Puget Sound. The creek is heavily modified along its course, and in many places has been diverted into culverts. The watershed of Boeing Creek is about 11.2 square miles (29 km2) in size, with two main tributaries aside from the mainstem. The creek takes its name from William Boeing, who built a mansion along the creek in 1913. Despite the river modifications and stormwater pollution, the creek supports a variety of riparian habitats, native animals and fishes.

Shoreline Community College is a public community college in Shoreline, Washington. It is located in a residential area east of Shoreview Park. The college contains over 80 acres and continuously serves 12,000 full- and part-time students. It opened in 1964 and offers degree and certificate programs.

The Seattle Golf Club (SGC; until November 2, 1912 Seattle Golf and Country Club or SCC) occupies about 150 acres (61 ha) in Shoreline, Washington, immediately north of Seattle. Although accounts disagree, Lou Gellos's history of the club confidently states that the 18-hole golf course was originally designed by Minneapolis-based Scottish golf course designer John Ball. It was most recently redesigned in 1996 by Arnold Palmer. The golf course and clubhouse (built in 1908, designed by Cutter & Malmgren) were developed in conjunction with The Highlands, an adjacent residential development. The club had purchased 380 acres (150 ha), and the portion not used for the course was divided into fifty parcels of land, all of which were initially sold to members of the club; those fifty parcels constitute The Highlands. Membership can be obtained only by invitation "through the sponsorship of Active members."While the club always has been, and remains, specifically a men's club, many women also play the course. In the early years, about twenty wives of members played; they paid dues under a status of Lady Golfers. In 1975, longstanding practice was formalized and any wife of a member was welcome to join as a Lady Golfer without a separate process of application. A women's locker facility was added when the clubhouse was remodeled in the 1980s.

Dunn Gardens in Seattle, Washington, is a privately owned 7.5-acre (3.0 ha) property composed of the remaining acreage of the estate of Arthur G. Dunn Sr., who bought the property in 1914 as a summer get-a-way for his family, and contracted the landscaping to the Olmsted Brothers. Upon his death, the property was inherited by his children. His son Edward B. Dunn provided for the care of his share of the estate in his will. A trust was created two years after his death to oversee the entire property. Dunn Gardens were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 15, 1994, and is open for special public events and docent-led guided tours April through July, and from September through October.

Shorewood High School is one of two public high schools in the Shoreline School District in Shoreline, Washington, United States. The school originally opened in 1975 and is the largest high school in the district. It serves students in grades nine through twelve. Shorewood accepts students west of Interstate 5 (I-5), and is fed students from Einstein Middle School and local private schools. As of 2014, approximately 53% of students are White and 47% are visible minorities. The school mascot is the Stormray, chosen in 2021 to replace the Thunderbird after the decision to retire that mascot in an effort to be more respectful of Native Americans.

Saint Dunstan's Church of the Highlands Parish is an Episcopal congregation of over 250 people in the Diocese of Olympia. The main church is located on the city limits between Seattle and Shoreline, Washington. Parishioners primarily come from the northern Seattle, Shoreline, Edmonds, and Mountlake Terrace. Some come from as far away as Bellevue, Mill Creek, and Everett. On the parish grounds is a carving of Chief Spokan Garry by Dudley C. Carter and a Celtic cross over the porch created by Lycia Danielle Trounton.

Robert Lang Studios is a recording studio in Shoreline, Washington, United States. Numerous bands have recorded at Robert Lang Studios since 1974 including Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews Band, Death Cab for Cutie, Brandi Carlile, Heart, Kenny G., Macklemore, Queensryche, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Soundgarden, Train, Portugal. The Man, Peter Frampton, Lil Wayne, The Blood Brothers, Candlebox, and Bush. In late January 1994, Nirvana recorded their last known studio recording at Robert Lang Studios. It was at this session that "You Know You're Right" was recorded. In October of the same year, Dave Grohl, formerly of Nirvana, recorded Foo Fighters' self-titled debut album. Later, the Foo Fighters returned to the studio in 2014 to record "Subterranean" and showcased the song in the penultimate episode of their 2014 HBO rockumentary mini-series Foo Fighters Sonic Highways.

Bitter Lake is a small lake in northwest Seattle, Washington, USA. The lake covers 19 acres (77,000 m2), with a mean depth of 16 feet (4.9 m) and a maximum depth of 31 feet (9.4 m). Until 1913, a sawmill was located at its southwest corner. Tannic acid from logs dumped into the lake gave its water a bitter taste and the lake itself a name. The Duwamish called the lake "Blackcaps on the Sides" (Lushootseed: cHálqWadee), denoting the blackcap (Rubus leucodermis) plants that grew along the shores.It is a glacial lake with its basin having been dug 15,000 years ago by the Puget Lobe of the Cordilleran Ice Sheet, which also created Lake Washington, Union, Green, and Haller Lakes.The Seattle-to-Everett Interurban streetcar reached the lake in 1906, and the Bitter Lake neighborhood was annexed by Seattle in 1954. The lake is situated between Greenwood Avenue North to the west, Linden Avenue North to the east, North 137th Street to the north, and North 130th Street to the south. Bitter Lake drains through a piped outlet at its southeast end that eventually flows into Lake Union.
