St. Jude's Church is a place of worship of the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland on Woodlands Road in Glasgow, Scotland. It is the largest church building of this denomination, constructed circa 1874-6 for the Woodlands United Presbyterian Church, later Woodlands United Free Church. The Free Presbyterian Bookroom is located in back rooms at the church. In the early 20th century, in a previous building also known as St Jude's, the name given to it by its previous owners, the congregation had an attendance of over 1,000, and was the largest Free Presbyterian congregation.

Sandyford is an area of Glasgow, Scotland. It is north of the River Clyde and forms part of the western periphery of the city centre. Formerly the name of a ward under Glasgow Town Council in the first part of the 20th century, it is within a continuous area of fairly dense urban development bordering several other neighbourhoods whose mutual boundaries have blurred over time, and is possibly less well known than all of the places which adjoin it, particularly Anderston and Finnieston.

The Charles Cameron Memorial Fountain is a statue ensemble and drinking fountain in Glasgow, Scotland. Dating to 1896 and standing at the junction of Woodside Crescent and Sauchiehall Street, it is a Category B listed structure.The fountain, designed by Clarke & Bell, is dedicated to Sir Charles Cameron MP. It is an ogee-domed baldacchino with basins at its base. It is in three stages, with a Peterhead granite base and basin and Doultonware for the two upper stages.Although it no longer provides drinking water, the fountain has become notable for its pronounced eastward lean, which was first noted in 1926. An urban myth existed that the lean was caused by the construction of the M8 motorway in Glasgow.Robert Alexander Bryden designed the clocktower dome which has clock faces at the cardinal points and bronze portrait medallions of Cameron around its hexagonal shape.

Arlington Baths Club is a non-profit member-run swimming club in Glasgow. It is housed in a purpose-built Category A Listed Building that opened on 1 August 1871. The Arlington Baths Club was the first swimming club in Glasgow. The building is in the Charing Cross area and was part of the westward development of the city. Built largely in the traditional tenement idiom, albeit with some extraordinary flourishes such as the famous Charing Cross Mansions, this area quickly attracted the well-off middle class residents who also constituted the membership of the Arlington Baths Club. The Club was therefore created on the doorstep of its membership, the great majority of whom lived within easy walking distance. From this emerged the traditions of the Club. The membership appeared first thing in the morning before going to work and returned in the evening after work, before going home in a regular twice daily ritual. A replica of Arlington Baths was built soon after in London, whither the drawings of the Arlington were spirited sometime towards the end of the 19th century, never to be seen again. This building was bombed during the Second World War and was never rebuilt. The building of the Arlington Baths coincided with the implementation of the first of the Public Health acts in 1870 and was considered by some to be the precursor to the growth of public bathing in the UK.

The West Princes Street drill hall is a former military installation in Glasgow, Scotland.

St George's Cross is a road junction in the Woodside area of Glasgow, Scotland. Previously a major intersection for traffic approaching the central areas of the city from its north-western parts, two of the roads forming the junction, Great Western Road and Maryhill Road, were bypassed at the original site in a 1960s realignment, whereas New City Road has had access for vehicular traffic blocked off from the junction itself and is now accessed via Gladstone Street. The cross is now the meeting point of St George's Road, St George's Place, Clarendon Place and New City Road (blocked entry). Most of the buildings at the Cross were demolished in the 1960s and 70s when rebuilding work for the M8 motorway, and realignment of the roads left only two of the original buildings. There is a subway station of the same name located near to the Cross. There is a small public space at the Cross, with a statue of St George and the Dragon, which was saved from the Co-operative Wholesale Society building at the cross when it was demolished. Another junction a short distance to the south, Charing Cross, was also affected by the construction of the motorway.

The Mitchell Library is a large public library and centre of the City Council public library system of Glasgow, Scotland.

On 28 May 2021, Scottish pensioner Esther Brown was raped and murdered at her flat in Woodlands, Glasgow.Jason Graham (also known as Jason Evans), a registered sex offender, who was unknown to her, was found guilty of her rape and murder on 12 November 2021, and sentenced to 19 years in jail.

Woodlands is an area of Glasgow, Scotland. Situated on the north-west edge of the city centre, Woodlands is located within Glasgow's fashionable West End, east of Hillhead, south of Woodside, north of the Park District and Kelvingrove Park, and west of Charing Cross and Garnethill. Woodlands has a substantial population of residents of Pakistani and Indian heritage, as well as a large number of students. The area is in the vicinity of the University of Glasgow and Glasgow School of Art. The housing stock mostly consists of 19th century terraces, townhouses, and blonde and red sandstone tenement housing, with modern redevelopment which is also predominantly in the tenement style.

Charing Cross is a major road junction in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated north of the River Clyde at the intersection of Sauchiehall Street, St George's Road, Woodlands Road, North Street and Newton Street, as well as being at a major interchange of the M8 motorway. Taking its name originally from a block of tenements named Charing Cross Place built in the 1850s, which continue at the south-west corner with North Street, the junction of Sauchiehall Street was formed as part of the original development of Blythswood Hill including Blythswood Square, St George's Road and North Street becoming known as Charing Cross, linking the city centre and the new West End, commencing at Woodlands and Sandyford. Much of its architecture was destroyed when the motorway was built through it in the late 1960s, notably the Grand Hotel at its heart. It still marks the boundary between the City Centre and the West End of the city. There are ornate red sandstone tenement blocks dating from the late Victorian period at two corners of the junction, at the north-west (St George's Mansions, Frank Burnet) and south-east (Charing Cross Mansions, John James Burnet), while nearby landmarks include the Mitchell Library. In 2019, Glasgow City Council put forward plans to cover over more of the motorway (which is in a cutting through the area) with a parkland area to better connect the areas on each side.Charing Cross was also part of the so-called Square Mile of Murder, the location of a series of sensational murders which scandalised Victorian society.Charing Cross railway station is a short distance to the south; the nearest Glasgow Subway station is St George's Cross, located at the junction of the same name to the north of Charing Cross, also much diminished in its importance by the installation of the M8. Nearby is an abstract concrete relief mural by Keith McCarter, made circa 1972.

Burnbank Park was a sports ground in Glasgow, Scotland. It was situated in the city's Woodlands area, found at Barrington Drive (between Great Western Road and Woodlands Road). No trace of the ground remains, having been built on by sandstone tenement housing in the late 19th century, which survives into the 21st century. The name endures locally with the Burnbank Bowling Club a few blocks to the south, founded in 1866, around the same time the sports grounds were coming into use for team sports.

22 Park Circus is a 19th-century townhouse in the West End of Glasgow, Scotland. Originally a family home, it was later a club and an Italian consulate. From 1994 to 2013 the building housed the city's register office.
