Santon railway station (Manx: Stashoon Raad Yiarn Skylley Stondane) is a request stop near Newtown in the parish of Santon, Isle of Man; it forms part of the sole remaining line of the Isle of Man Railway which once encompassed over 46 miles of network and retains its original station building. The halt sometimes plays host to Santa's Grotto each December as part of the railway's Santa Trains service although between 2010 and 2013 it was not utilised for this purpose. The railway station is situated off the A5 Port Erin to Douglas road, between the railway stations of Ballasalla and Port Soderick.

Santon (Manx: Stondane), historically Santan, is one of the seventeen historic parishes of the Isle of Man. It is located in the south-east of the island (part of the traditional South Side division) in the sheading of Middle. Settlements in the parish include Newtown.

Santon Burn is a watercourse in the Isle of Man. This small river, or burn, has its origins in the waters of Eairy in the parish of Marown (Ordnance Survey Landranger SC296779) and enters the Irish Sea at Santon Gorge close to Cass-ny-Hawin Head, just south from the bay of Port Soderick and north of Ronaldsway Airport. The course of Santon Burn runs between the pastoral mid-island village of St. Mark's, in the parish of Malew and later via Ballalonna Glen and Fairy Bridge. The Santon Burn never enters Santon, being a border to that parish. Salmon have been recorded as far up the burn as Ballalonna Bridge (The original Fairy Bridge). In Ballalonna Glen, there is a mill race which forms part of a 15th-century flour mill, now converted into a house. Downstream is the farm house, Arragon Moar, which has been converted into the home of Dr John Taylor, the inventor, horologist and founder of Strix.

Close to Port Grenaugh, Cronk ny Merriu (English: Hill of the Dead) is one of the remains of promontory forts in the Isle of Man. Cronk ny Merriu was previously considered by historians to be a prehistoric burial place due to its large grass-covered bank and name, literally translating to "Hill of the Dead". The bank and ditch created a defensive promontory fort at Cronk ny Merriu. Later, a rectangular building of Norse style and layout stood here, part of a system of coastal lookout posts used to protect the coastline and to police beach markets. Excavations of Cronk ny Merriu show that there was very little domestic activity, and that the Norse building likely didn't have permanent residency. It's suggested that the longhouse was primarily a building for those at nearby forts to shelter from harsh weather, rather than a place of defence itself. Although no scientific dating has been done, due to the similarities with fortified headlands throughout the Anglo-Celtic isles, archeologists strongly believe that this site dates back to the Celtic Iron Age.Several of the lookout posts, especially in Santon, where Cronk ny Merriu is situated, can be visited using the coastal footpath. The posts were protected with a deep ditch and a rampart strengthed by large stones on their vulnerable landward side. There'd also be a heavily protected gateway, with ramparts built up on either side, for those seeking shelter in the fort.The Scandinavians who arrived in Mann in the eighth and ninth centuries sometimes re-used these Iron Age promontory forts, often obliterating the old domestic quarters with their characteristic rectangular houses; the example at Cronk ny Merriu has been used as the basis of the reconstruction of the House of Manannan museum in Peel.

Port Grenaugh is a cove in the south-east of the Isle of Man at the foot of Glen Grenaugh, in the parish of Santon, and the mouth of Grace's stream which originates in the Newtown area of the parish by Ballakissack farm. Close by is Cronk ny Merriu - the remains of one of the island's promontory forts which date back almost 2000 years.

Malew and Santon was a House of Keys constituency in the Isle of Man. The constituency was created in 1986. It elected one MHK and the constituency covered the parishes of Malew and Santon. This was slightly unusual since Malew and Santon are in different sheadings. The constituency was abolished in 2016.

Newtown (Manx: Balley Noa) is a community within the parish of Santon, Isle of Man. To the northern part of the community lies Mount Murray and to the north-west the Broogh Fort (54°08′09″N 4°34′39″W) - an Iron Age fort dating from the 13th century.

Malew ( mə-LOO; Manx: Malew) is one of the seventeen parishes of the Isle of Man. It is located in the south of the island (part of the traditional South Side division) in the sheading of Rushen. Administratively, part of the historic parish of Malew is now covered by the town of Castletown. As a result, there is a small exclave of the parish district which includes Scarlett point. Other settlements in the parish include Ballasalla, Derbyhaven and St Mark's.

Ballasalla railway station (Manx: Stashoon Raad Yiarn Valley Sallagh) is located in the village of Ballasalla in the south of the Isle of Man, close to the airport, and is served on a seasonal basis by the Isle of Man Railway. It forms part of the sole remaining section of the once extensive network (46 miles, 74 km) that operated across the island. Ballasalla was the usual crossing point for trains, making it popular with photographers, until the introduction of the 2015 timetable which saw all trains passing at Castletown.

Ballasalla (from Manx Balley Sallagh 'place of willows') is a village in the parish of Malew in the south-east of the Isle of Man. The village is situated close to the Isle of Man Airport and 2 miles (3 km) north-east of the town of Castletown.

The Battle of Ronaldsway took place in 1275 at Ronaldsway in the southern part of the Isle of Man between a Scottish army and the Manx. The battle crushed the final attempt by the Manx to re-establish the Norse Sudreyar dynasty. As the battle resulted in the death of the last Norse King of Mann, Guðrøðr Magnússon, and the emigration to Norway of the remaining members of the Manx royal family, it also led to the firm establishment of Scottish rule on the Isle of Man.

Derby Fort is a former military fort situated on St Michael's Isle, Isle of Man. The fort was constructed by James Stanley, the 7th Earl of Derby and Lord of Mann in 1645, during the English Civil War, to protect the then busy port of Derbyhaven. Derby Fort replaced an earlier defensive fort, which was built on the site circa 1540 by Edward Stanley, 3rd Earl of Derby, on the orders of King Henry VIII so as to protect the Isle of Man from a possible invasion by the Scots or the French.
