Monmore Green Stadium

Monmore Green is an area of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. It is situated about 1 mile (1.6 km) to the south-east of the city centre, in the East Park ward. It is where Monmore Green Stadium is situated, which is home to the Wolverhampton Wolves speedway team and is also a venue for greyhound racing With Racing Manager Tony Williamson Managing the racing operation. The powerhouse of the former Wolverhampton Power Station (decommissioned 1976) remains standing in Commercial Road. The Midland Metro runs through the area along Bilston Road (A41) with stops at The Royal and Priestfield where the tramline drops down to the former GWR railway track. The main bus route is National Express West Midlands service 79 between Wolverhampton and West Bromwich which operates every 10 minutes.

Priestfield tram stop is a tram stop in Priestfield, Wolverhampton, England. It opened on 31 May 1999 and has park and ride facilities. It is situated on West Midlands Metro Line 1. It is situated near to the old site of Priestfield railway station, which closed in 1972. It is the last stop on the former railway section of line 1, before it switches to the street-running section, a short distance north of the stop.

Monmore Green railway station was a railway station built by the London and North Western Railway on their Stour Valley Line in 1863. It served the Monmore Green area of Wolverhampton, and was located near to the junction of Bilston Road and Landport Road. The station closed in 1916, although the Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford Line loop from the West Coast Main Line still runs through the site of the station today. As you pass along this stretch of track, the exact position of the station is coincident with a widening of the track-side paraphernalia, most defined on the eastern track edge.

Priestfield railway station was a junction station built by the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway in 1854. It was situated on the junction of the Oxford-Worcester-Wolverhampton Line and the London Paddington to Birkenhead via Birmingham Snow Hill. The station closed in 1972, although mainline services were withdrawn by 1967, and only single railcars operated to Snow Hill, the OWW Line closing in 1962. It was the first station south of Wolverhampton Low Level. After the withdrawal of passenger services, the line remained open to goods trains until December 1982.Today, Priestfield refers to the Midland Metro stop a short distance away from the station's original position. The tram line opened on 31 May 1999, restoring the use of the line after more than 16 years in disuse and to serve the Snow Hill-Low Level Line while the Dudley-Wolverhampton Line has been since built on and redeveloped. However the location of the former railway junction can be detected by a distinct gap in the right-hand embankment as the Metro line turns under the adjacent road bridge.

East Park is a public park in Wolverhampton, England. Situated off Hickman Avenue, near Monmore Green stadium, the park has good transport links to the city centre.Work began on the original design "Utile Dolci" by Thomas Mawson on 18 hectares of land donated by the Duke of Sutherland, Sir Alfred Hickman, and Mr Arther Sparrow in 1892, with the park opening for business on 21 September 1896.The original design included a boating lake; however this was beset with problems as old coal mines that were previously there began to drain the water from the lake. Despite great efforts to save the lake, it was grassed over in 1922 and is now part of a children's playground and all weather sports pitch. This has since been turned into a car park in 2013.The park includes The Lysaght Memorial Clock Tower, however this has been out of order for over 30 years although rumors continue to circulate that funding will become available to refurbish this in the near future (Work started in 2013), and a small band stand originally funded by the proceeds of a floral fete. Although presently (2012) repairable according to The Scottish Ironwork Database (https://web.archive.org/web/20120512104228/http://www.scottishironwork.org/catdetail.asp?ironid=25956) the bandstand is currently considered to be "at risk" having suffered years of neglect and vandalism. Pensioners often gather at the Memorial Clock Tower for sandwich club. Current facilities include football pitches, tennis courts, children's playgrounds, cycle speedway, fitness and exercise equipment alongside gardens, walkways and flower beds.. The playground underwent a £630,000 complete renovation in 2023, adding a new splash park and play equipment. Once a year, the Wolvestock4life festival takes place. It has been hosted by East park for over ten years and annually brings in over 4,000 people. The festival, now in its 14th year, is the largest free-to-enter festival in the United Kingdom. It has no longer free since 2013.A Lottery grant of £981,000 was granted in December 2011 to stabilize the aforementioned coal mines and refurbish the park's facilities, including the clock tower.

East Park is the name of a ward of Wolverhampton City Council, West Midlands, England. It lies to the east of Wolverhampton city centre, stretching to the city's boundary with the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall. It also borders the wards of Bilston North, Ettingshall, St Peter's, Heath Town and Wednesfield South. It forms part of the Wolverhampton South East constituency. Its name comes from East Park, a large urban park in the south of the ward. The ward also covers the Monmore Green and Deansfield areas.

Wolverhampton Steel Terminal is a small intermodal depot in the city of Wolverhampton, England. The depot is served by a spur of the Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford Line – the mainline through the West Midlands. It can also be accessed by road, which makes it a useful point for transferring steel between road and rail transport. The terminal is run by rail freight company DBS(I)

Chillington Wharf is a now derelict intermodal cargo interchange to the east of the city of Wolverhampton, England. It was built by the Chillington Iron Company.

The Chillington Iron Works opened in 1822. Foster, Rastrick and Company in Stourbridge played a role in equipping the works. An extensive 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) gauge tramway connected the ironworks with the Birmingham canal at Chillington Wharf, but had disappeared by the turn of the century. Steam locomotives from John Smith Village Foundry at Coven, were purchased for use on the line.

Ettingshall Road railway station was a railway station built by the London and North Western Railway on their Stour Valley Line in 1852. It served the Ettingshall area of Wolverhampton, and was located near to the junction of Ettingshall Road and Parkfield Road. It was sometimes known as Ettingshall Road and Bilston. The station closed in 1964, although the Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford Line loop from the West Coast Main Line still runs through the site of the station.

Deansfield is an area of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. It is situated in the city council's East Park ward, to the east of the city centre. Most of the housing in the area was built by the local council during the 1950s but has since been bought by private owners. St Matthias School (formerly Deansfield Community School), founded in 1968, is located in the area. It also has a main link road connecting Wednesfield to Bilston via Stowheath Lane. This provides a vital link to the Black Country and more importantly the Black Country Route, which provides access to towns such as West Bromwich, Wednesbury, Darlaston and Birmingham.
