Crux Easton

Crux Easton wind engine is a Grade II listed Titt wind engine, used as a windpump, at Crux Easton, Hampshire, England, which has been restored to working order.

Hambledon Rural District was a local government district that existed in south-west Surrey in England from 1894 until 1974. Its headquarters were in Guildford. In 1974 it was abolished, with the area becoming part of the new borough of Waverley.

At 255 metres (837 ft), Sidown Hill is the third highest hill in the county of Hampshire, England. At the summit is a mid-18th century Grade II listed building known as Heaven's Gate which is hidden by the trees covering the top of the hill.The hill is on the watershed of the Hampshire Basin and forms part of the Hampshire Downs. To the east is Beacon Hill (261 metres (856 ft)). On 5 May 1945 a USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress of 326th Bombardment Squadron crashed on Sidown Hill with the loss of six of its crew of seven.

Sidley Wood is a 11.7-hectare (29-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Andover in Hampshire.This south-facing secondary wood on chalk soil has many stands of ancient hornbeam coppice, some of more than 2 metres (6.6 feet) in diameter; no other comparable stands are known in south central England. Other trees are oak, field maple, ash and hazel.

Highclere Castle is a Grade I listed country house built in 1679 and largely renovated in the 1840s, with a park designed by Capability Brown in the 18th century. The house, Egyptian exhibition, and gardens are open to the public for self-guided tours during the summer months and at other times during the rest of the year, such as Christmas and Easter. The house also holds ticketed events, such as the Battle Proms picnic concert, and special guided tours throughout the year.
