It was the 11th edition of the Brisbane International, and was a Tier III event on the 2007 WTA Tour. It took place in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, from 31 December 2006 through 6 January 2007. Second-seeded Dinara Safina won the singles title and earned $25,840 first-prize money.

The 2008 Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts was a women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 12th and final edition of the Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts, which was renamed and relocated to Brisbane, and was part of the Tier III Series of the 2008 WTA Tour. It took place in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, from 31 December 2007 through 5 January 2008. Unseeded Li Na won the singles title and earned $28,000 first-prize money. This was the last edition of the tournament in Gold Coast, Queensland. In 2009 the women's tournament was merged with the men's tournament and became the Brisbane International.

Dinara Safina and Meghann Shaughnessy were the defending champions, but did not compete together this year. Shaughnessy partnered with Anna-Lena Grönefeld, and lost to Li Na and Peng Shuai in the first round. It took place in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, from 2 January through 8 January 2000. Seventh-seeded Silvija Talaja won the singles title and earned $27,000 first-prize money.

Dinara Safina and Katarina Srebotnik were the defending champions, but Srebotnik chose not to participate. Safina partnered with Ágnes Szávay and won the title, defeating Yan Zi and Zheng Jie in the final 6–1, 6–2. This was the final edition of the tournament. The following year, the Brisbane International was held, merging the men's and women's tournaments together.

Dinara Safina was the defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Shahar Pe'er. Li Na won in the final 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, against Victoria Azarenka. This was the final edition of the tournament. The Brisbane International was held the next year, merging the men's and women's tournaments in this city.
