The Kulturfinger is the nickname of a steel-framed tower built during the days of the communist German Democratic Republic that is the tallest building in Neubrandenburg, Germany. It is part of the Haus der Kultur und Bildung (German for House of Culture and Education) or HKB, the city's cultural institution. The 56-m, 16-story mixed-use socialist realist building was designed by Neubrandenburg chief architect Iris Grund, who had studied under East Germany's prominent architect Hermann Henselmann. Along with the adjacent theater, also designed by Grund, it opened on July 17, 1965. The building was renovated in the 1990s, following German reunification.

Neubrandenburg (lit. New Brandenburg, IPA: [nɔʏˈbʁandn̩bʊʁk]) is a city in the southeast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is located on the shore of a lake called Tollensesee and forms the urban centre of the Mecklenburg Lakeland. The city is famous for its rich medieval heritage of Brick Gothic architecture, including the world's best preserved defensive wall of this style as well as a Concert Church (Saint Mary), the home venue of the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic. It is part of the European Route of Brick Gothic, a route which leads through seven countries along the Baltic Sea coast. Neubrandenburg is nicknamed for its four medieval city gates - "Stadt der Vier Tore" ("City of Four Gates"). Since 2011, Neubrandenburg has been the capital of the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district. It is the third-largest city and one of the main urban centres of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The city is an economical node of northeastern Germany, featuring one of the highest national ranks in employment density and GDP per capita. The closest greater urban areas are the regiopolis of Rostock and the metropolises of Szczecin, Berlin and Hamburg. Since 1991, Neubrandenburg has hosted a University of Applied Sciences that offers international exchanges, guest programs and study programs.

Marienkirche (St. Mary's Church), a hall church in the North German red brick Gothic style, completed in 1298, was the main church of the city of Neubrandenburg. It has been transformed into a concert hall, designed by Pekka Salminen, which opened in 2001. It then was rededicated as the Konzertkirche (Concert Church). It is widely known for its renowned Philharmony (Neubrandenburger Philharmonie).

Linde is a river of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Tollense.

The 14th Panzergrenadier Division (14. Panzergrenadierdivision) was a German mechanized infantry formation. It was part of the Multinational Corps Northeast, a NATO corps that includes German, Polish, and Danish troops. In the wake of military restructuring aimed at reducing the size of the German land forces, the 14th Panzergrenadier Division was disbanded in 2008. The division's formation was notable in that it was a Bundeswehr formation created after the reunification of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic, and which was formed in part from soldiers who had served in the National People's Army (NVA) of the GDR. In 1990-1991, troops from the former 1st and 8th Motor Rifle Divisions and the 9th Armored Division of the NVA were used to form the three brigades of the 14th Panzergrenadier Division. These brigades were numbered as the 40th and 41st Panzergrenadier Brigades and the 42nd Panzer Brigade. In 1997, the 42nd Panzer Brigade was subordinated to the 13th Panzergrenadier Division and the 18th Panzer Brigade was subordinated to the 14th Panzergrenadier Division. Division headquarters was located at Neubrandenburg. The division was given the mission of supporting international operations as well as the standard national defense mission. International operations the division took part in include: 1997/1998, 4th SFOR contingent in Bosnia. 1999, 2nd German contingent for KFOR in Kosovo. 2001, 3rd German contingent for SFOR and KFOR. 2003/2004, parts of the division deployed to the Balkans and Afghanistan. 2006, 13th German contingent for KFOR in Kosovo.The division also provided support to civilians during the 2002 Elbe River flood.

Trollenhagen is a municipality in the district Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in north-eastern Germany. Formerly the home of an East German Air Force base.

Camp Fünfeichen (German: Lager Fünfeichen) was a World War II German prisoner-of-war camp located in Fünfeichen, a former estate within the city limits of Neubrandenburg, Mecklenburg, northern Germany. Built as Stalag II-A Neubrandenburg in 1939, it was extended by the officer camp Oflag II-E in 1940 (renamed Oflag-67, 1944). After the Soviet takeover in 1945 until 1949 it was used as special camp, NKVD-camp Nr. 9 of the Soviet secret service (NKVD). Today, the site of the camp is a memorial.

Tollensesee is a zungenbecken lake in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It belongs to the Mecklenburg Lake District. At an elevation of 14.8 m, its surface area is 17.4 km². Its maximum depth is about 46 m. The lake is 10.4 km long and between 1.5 and 2.5 km wide. The entire lake lies within the administrative area of the city of Neubrandenburg. In the south part of the lake there is island Fischerinsel.

Stargard Castle is the northernmost extant hill castle in Germany. The 13th century castle, standing on a 90 m hill, and the eponymous small town in the valley below lie several kilometers southeast of Neubrandenburg, in the northeastern German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The complex consists of an outer and an inner bailey with eleven buildings preserved. The imposing castle keep serves as the city's landmark.

The Commandry of Nemerow (German: Komturei Nemerow or Komturei Gardow) was a commandry of the Knights Hospitaller in the village of Klein Nemerow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It existed from 1285 until 1648. It was originally centred on Gardow, a now-ruined village near Wokuhl-Dabelow.

The Duchy of Mecklenburg-Stargard, also simply known as Mecklenburg-Stargard, and also as the Duchy of Stargard was a feudal district duchy in Mecklenburg within the Holy Roman Empire. Its capital was Burg Stargard. It was ruled by the House of Mecklenburg. The state was formed in 1352 from part of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, and existed until 1471, when it was incorporated into the Duchy of Mecklenburg.The main part of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Stargard comprised the Lordship of Stargard in what is now the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, an area in the border area between Brandenburg, Pomerania and Mecklenburg. The lordship was named after the medieval castle in Stargard. Smaller areas were Sternberg and the Eldenburg with the historic country Ture.
