Loughborough University

The College Ground was a cricket ground based in the town of Loughborough, Leicestershire. Initially the ground was a playing field of the Loughborough Technical Institute, which was formed in 1909. First-class cricket was played at the ground twice in 1928 and 1929, with Leicestershire using the ground as an outground against Derbyshire in the 1928 County Championship and Glamorgan in the 1929 County Championship. Following the merger of the Loughborough College of Technology, Loughborough College of Education and Loughborough Training College and Loughborough College of Art and Design into The Union of Loughborough Colleges and subsequent application for university status by the College of Technology, there was a need for a permanent base for the Loughborough Students' Union. Land occupied by the College Ground was identified, with the Student Union building being constructed on it in 1979.

The first recorded match on the ground was in 1983, when Loughborough Students played Exeter University in the quarter finals of the University Athletics Union Championship. The ground held two Women's One Day Internationals in 2008, when England women played West Indies women in both matches, and hosted a single first class match in 2011 between Loughborough MCCU and Northamptonshire.

The Elite Athlete Centre and Hotel is a training base and hotel opened on the Loughborough University campus in November 2018. The hotel is run by Imago Venues, the service that manages conferences and events at Loughborough University.The Hotel is part of Loughborough University's Student Village project which sees 617 new student bedrooms in new halls of residence opening in October 2018 and October 2019. Rosebery Primary School was a primary school in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. It was opened in 1897 and closed by Leicestershire Local Authority in 2006, despite a protracted battle between the local community and the local government. In March 2007, the school was Grade II listed as having notable historical importance. The listing protects it from demolition and insensitive development. The building and grounds were sold by auction on 20 June 2007 for £875,000, and planning proposals were submitted in October 2007

The Pilkington Library is the academic library at Loughborough University, situated in the West Park of the university campus at Loughborough, Leicestershire, in the East Midlands of England. It is named after Lord Pilkington. Built to an unusual design on an unusual site in the West Park area of the campus, the library building is immediately adjacent to Village Park. As it is adjacent to the University's more recent Elvyn Richards halls, its Combined Heat and Power plant can be used to cool the library building with otherwise wasted heat.The Pilkington Library opened in 1980 as the main library to the then Loughborough University of Technology; the university library had previously been located in the Herbert Manzoni building which provided around a quarter of the capacity of the new facility, with the Fairbairn Library (the Loughborough College of Art and Design Library before the merger of LCAD - renamed LUSAD post merger - and the University in 1998), located at the far extremity of the campus adjacent to the RNIB College and Loughborough College. At a later date this building was closed when the library stock was re-located to the Pilkington Library.
