Düsseldorf-Flingern station is a through station in the district of Flingern in the city of Düsseldorf in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station was opened on 29 May 1988 on the new line opened by the Prussian state railways on 1 October 1891 between the Hamm Railway Bridge and Gerresheim as part of the construction of Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof. It has two platform tracks and it is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station.The station is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn lines S 8 between Mönchengladbach and Wuppertal-Oberbarmen or Hagen every 20 minutes, S 28 between Mettmann Stadtwald or Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof and Kaarster See every 20 and several S 68 services between Wuppertal-Vohwinkel and Langenfeld in the peak hour.It is also served by two tram lines: 706 and 709, operated by Rheinbahn at 10-minute intervals.

Flingern is a former blue-collar borough of Düsseldorf. Located northeast of Düsseldorf (proper), it is divided into two boroughs today: Flingern-Nord and Flingern-Süd. While Flingern-Nord has a younger population and is more attractive to middle-class families, Flingern-Süd is still mostly home to working-class people. Flingern was first mentioned in 1193 as a forested area that was ruled by the Knights Hayc of Flingern. In the 13th and 14th centuries the City of Düsseldorf grew on the grounds of the Knights Hayc von Flingern. By the end of the 14th century the knights lost their influence. Jan Wellem, Elector Palantine, constructed the Flinger Steinweg which was a paved road leading from Düsseldorf through Flingern to Gerresheim. During the Industrial Revolution Flingern became an industrial and working class town and to this day it has many old and new factories. Only the old facade remains of the old baths of the early 20th century, which has been converted into a modern wellness center on the inside. An old steel factory was converted to a popular discothèque called Stahlwerk and was one of the early venues playing Techno music in the 1990s.

Düsseldorf Wehrhahn station is located about one kilometre north of Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in central Düsseldorf in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Cologne–Duisburg line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station.Düsseldorf Wehrhahn is also a stop for several bus routes. It is also stop of the new Wehrhahn-line which consists four Stadtbahn lines.

Capitol Theater (Düsseldorf) is the largest theatre in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Kiefernstraße ( pronounced ['ki:fɐn'ʃtra:sə]) is a street in the Flingern-Süd district of Düsseldorf that became notorious in the 1980s for squatting. In the mid-1980s there were connections to the Baader–Meinhof Gang. Nowadays, the former squatters have regular leases.

Düsseldorf Zoo station is located about two kilometres north of Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in central Düsseldorf in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Cologne–Duisburg line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station. The station is defined by Deutsche Bahn as a Haltepunkt (roughly "halt") as it is not a junction and has no crossovers.

Düsseltal is a borough of Düsseldorf with a rather well-off population and developed around an old convent. It is also known as Düsseldorf-Zoo (after Düsseltal's S-Bahn station), because, until 1943, there was a zoological garden in Düsseltal. The word Düsseltal is German for the valley of the river Düssel.

As a wholesale bank, it acts as a trading partner in currency, foreign exchange, and capital markets, as well as in bond issuing and syndications.From 2011 WGZ Bank and DZ Bank merged their private banking businesses based in Luxembourg to further strengthen their operations in Germany.In 2016, WGZ Bank was merged into DZ Bank, the central institute of co-operative banks in all other parts of Germany.

The Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung GmbH (MPIE) is a research institute of the Max Planck Society located in Düsseldorf. Since 1971 it is legally independent and organized in the form of a GmbH, owned and financed equally by the Max Planck Society and the Steel Institute VDEh. It conducts basic research on advanced materials, specifically steels and related metallic alloys.

Oberbilker Markt/Warschauer Straße is an underground station on the Düsseldorf Stadtbahn lines U74, U77 and U79 in Düsseldorf. The station is located at Oberbilker Markt in the district of Oberbilk. The station was opened on 15 June 2002; it consists of two side-platform with two rail tracks. On the surface, Interchange to Tram line 706 is possible.

Oberbilk is an inner-city urban borough in the south-east of the German city of Düsseldorf. The back exit of the Central Station leads to Oberbilk. The new District Court of Düsseldorf is located in Oberbilk since 2010, as is the main office of the Communal Library of Düsseldorf. Oberbilk is also home to the Mitsubishi Electric Halle, a concert arena with a capacity for 7,500. Oberbilk has a high population density, with 27,570 people living in just 4.38 km2. Twenty-three percent are non-German, which is higher than the 17% found in Düsseldorf as a whole. Traditionally Oberbilk was a working class borough containing heavy industry. This changed in the 1980s and, following restructuring, employment is now dominated by the third sector. Unemployment is high.

On 9 March 2017, a suspect was detained after an axe attack that injured nine persons. The attack began on a train and continued in the main train station in Düsseldorf, Germany. Although the suspect's injuries were too severe to permit investigators to question him, authorities do not see a connection to terrorism.
