One Angel Square

NOMA (a portmanteau of North and Manchester) is an £800 million, 20-acre (8-hectare) mixed-use redevelopment scheme in Manchester. It is the largest development project in North West England ahead of developments such as MediaCityUK and Atlantic Gateway. NOMA focuses on revitalising and opening the northern area of Manchester city centre which has not undergone the redevelopment seen in other central areas of the city. The Co-operative Group, the company backing the scheme, have been based in the Manchester area since their inception in 1843 and hope the development will attract more companies to invest in Manchester as they have done and continue to do. The development involves the creation of 4 million square feet (400,000 square metres) of office, residential, retail, leisure and hotel space. At the heart of the project is the £100 million One Angel Square building, which has been compared to a "sliced egg" due to its distinctive shape and stands at 72 metres (236 feet); it opened in 2013. In April 2014, a joint venture contract was agreed between The Co-operative and Hermes Real Estate to allow the delivery of new phases. Redevelopment of Hanover Building as a low-cost office space and reconstruction of City Buildings (which is currently in scaffolding) into a hotel are expected to commence in 2015. Future developments include a 106 m (348 ft) residential tower, Angel Gardens, and a further office building, 3 Angel Square.

The Angel of the Meadow is the name given by the media to an unidentified murder victim whose remains were discovered in 2010 in Angel Meadow, Manchester, United Kingdom. Despite an extensive international investigation, neither the woman's identity nor that of her killer has ever been established.

Shudehill Mill or Simpson's Mill was a very early cotton mill in Manchester city centre, England. It was built in 1782 by for Richard Arkwright and his partners and destroyed by fire in 1854. It was rebuilt and finally destroyed during the Manchester Blitz in 1940. One of Arkwright's larger mills, it was built three years before his patent lapsed. The mill had a 30 feet diameter water wheel and a Newcomen atmospheric engine was installed. Doubts remain as to why the engine was installed, whether it was a failed attempt to power a mill directly by steam or was modified to assist the wheel. It is possible that this engine, constructed by Hunt, could have been one of the 13 engines installed in Manchester mills by Joshua Wrigley. Water from the upper storage pond turned the water wheel to drive the mill. The steam engine recycled water from the lower storage pond to the upper storage pond. Three more Boulton and Watt engines were installed to power the increasing number of spindles.

Angel Gardens is a 110 m (360 ft) tall, 35-storey building of 466 rental apartments in Manchester, England. It forms part of the 20-acre (8-hectare) NOMA redevelopment. In January 2017, the investor Apache Capital Partners and the developer Moda Living secured £85 million in financing from the German bank Deutsche Pfandbriefbank.Following the collapse of the main contractor Carillion on 15 January 2018, construction was put on hold; two weeks later, the contract was transferred to Caddick Construction and construction re-commenced.Angel Gardens was co-designed by architects Fuse Studios and HAUS Collective.

Manchester Victoria Reversing Sidings is an electric traction depot located in Manchester, England. The depot is situated on the Liverpool to Manchester Line and is located near Manchester Victoria station.

The CIS Tower is a high-rise office building on Miller Street in Manchester, England. Designed for the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) by architects Gordon Tait and G. S. Hay, the building was completed in 1962 and rises to 118 m (387 ft) in height. As of 2023, the Grade II listed building is Greater Manchester's 11th-tallest building and the tallest office building in the United Kingdom outside London. The tower remained as built for over 40 years, until maintenance issues on the service tower required an extensive renovation, which included covering its façade in photovoltaic panels.

St Michael's Flags and Angel Meadow Park is a public park in Manchester, England, to the immediate northeast of the city centre, on a slope between the River Irk and Rochdale Road. It occupies an area of 7.4 acres (3 ha), and was once an affluent suburb, until the 19th-century Industrial Revolution altered the social standing of the area and introduced poverty and disease. Regeneration of the park in the 2000s has created a gateway into the Irk Valley.

The Redfern Building is a Grade-II listed building which was completed in 1936 in Manchester, England. The building is situated on Dantzic Street and meets the junction of Mayes Street and Hanover Street. Redfern was originally built for office and warehouse use.The seven-storey building has a flat roof and consists of pale brown brick. A noticeable service tower exists to the north of the building. Architecture critic Clare Hartwell wrote in Pevsner in 2001, "It is a pity that this [building] does not enjoy a better site - its impact is partly lost due to its towering neighbours and its relationship with the adjoining Holyoake House."

Holyoake House is a building in the NOMA district of Manchester, England, which was completed in 1911. Designed by F.E.L. Harris, it was built for the Co-operative Union in memory of George Holyoake. It is located alongside other listed buildings such as the CIS Tower, Hanover Building and Redfern Building and is owned by Co-operatives UK.

The Green Quarter is an area of Manchester, England, just north of the city centre between Cheetham, Strangeways and the River Irk. From the mid-nineteenth century, the area, then known as Red Bank, was a slum housing impoverished Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, but is now home to digital start-ups and e-commerce businesses, new apartments, microbreweries, gin distilleries and restaurants.

New Century House is a high-rise office building with an attached conference hall, in the NOMA district of Manchester, England. The building is 50 metres (160 ft) tall and has 14 floors. There is office space, conference and catering facilities, and a gym.
