Poppel (village)

Gorp is a hamlet in the municipality of Hilvarenbeek, in the south of the Netherlands near its border with Belgium. Once historically separate from Hilvarenbeek, it has become a de facto neighborhood of the larger town. Gorp was the birthplace of physician, linguist, and humanist Johannes Goropius Becanus (1519-1572), whose Latinized surname is derived from the town's name.

Weelde is a village in the municipality of Ravels, in the province of Antwerp, Belgium. As of 2021, it has 4,879 inhabitants. Until 1977 Weelde was an independent municipality. The town hall of the municipality of Ravels and the municipal services are located in Weelde. NATO reserve airfield Weelde Air Base is situated in Weelde.

Het Sas (Dutch pronunciation: [(ɦ)ət ˈsɑs]) is a hamlet in the municipality Alphen-Chaam in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located southwest of Alphen. Het Sas is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Alphen. It was first mentioned in 1838 as Het Sas, and means sluice in the river Leije. The hamlet consists of about 15 houses.

Goirle (pronounced [ˈɣoːrlə] ) is a municipality and town in the southern Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant. Part of the suburban area of the city of Tilburg, it shares with it its phone area code and public transport system. The municipality also includes the villages of Breehees and Riel.

Alphen en Riel is a former municipality in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It covered the villages of Alphen and Riel. In 1997, the municipality was divided between the new municipality of Alphen-Chaam, and the municipality of Goirle.

Riel is a village (Dutch: dorp) in the municipality of Goirle, south of Tilburg in the province of North Brabant. Until 1997 it belonged to the municipality Alphen en Riel. On the east it is bordered by the stream valley of the river Donge, on the west by the deactivated railroad Turnhout- Tilburg. Riel is a so-called esdorp. The village grew and stretched out as new enclosures took place alongside the main road. First development took place as early as in the 7th century, with a peak in the 12th century when the church stimulated the enclosure of the common grounds and development. Nowadays Riel is a commuter village. In the South and East large nature preserves are located, such as the moor "Regte Heide", also a tumulus site, "Riels Laag" and hunting ground "Hoefke". Because the stream valley cuts through moor and sandy areas, there is a considerable difference in heights.

Ravels (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈraːvəls]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Poppel, Ravels proper and Weelde. In 2021, Ravels had a total population of 15,105. The total area is 94.99 km². A large proportion of its inhabitants are immigrants from The Netherlands. The town hall and the municipal services are located in Weelde.

Esbeek is a village with 1,200 inhabitants. It is one of the six church villages of the municipality of Hilvarenbeek, which has a total of 15,000 inhabitants. Esbeek is located on the high sandy soils in the south of the Netherlands in the province of North Brabant, on the border with Belgium. The village originated from a ring structured village around farm fields, the structure of which can still be recognized today. In addition to Esbeek, it includes the neighborhoods of 'Groenstraat' and 'Hoogeind'. The field is located on the western bank of the 'Spruitenstroompje', a stream that flows into the 'Reusel' five kilometers north of village of Diessen.It was not until 1889 that Esbeek became its own parish and a small village center arose around the church that was inaugurated in 1890. Also around this time a steam tram came from Tilburg to Poppel. The 'Oude Trambaan', a broad lane that separates the forests of the 'Rovertsche Heide' and 'Landgoed de Utrecht', is a testament to this. There was also activity in the form of a brick factory. The local brick industry was started around 1900 by the Zeebregts family, a family of masons and contractors. From 1923 there was a brick factory that worked on a larger scale. This became the largest employer of Esbeek. The activities stopped in 2008.

Weelde Air Base (ICAO: EBWE) is a NATO reserve airfield located in Weelde, a village in the Ravels municipality in Belgium. It is operated by the Belgian Air Component that has no military flight operations at that location, besides aircraft arriving to be stored or leaving storage, for example retired F-16 aircraft. The Belgian Air Component also uses the airfield for the activities of the Belgian Air Cadets. Weelde Air Base is also publicly accessible as a light general aviation field and home to the gliding club "Kempische Aero Club".

't Zand (Dutch pronunciation: [(ə)t sɑnt]) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Brabant, in the municipality of Alphen-Chaam. It was first mentioned in 1980 and means sand. 't Zand is a villa ward and recreational site near Alphen. There are no place name signs. It consists of about 100 houses excluding the holiday homes.In 1939, a little chapel dedicated to Saint Willibrord was erected on the Oude Maastrichtsebaan in 't Zand. According to legend, Willibrord baptised people from Alphen near a well and it turned into a site of pilgrimage. Father Binck together with the archaeologist Joan Willems set out to find the spot and discovered a 2.5 metres (8 ft 2 in) loam well in the forest. It was restored in stone and a chapel was built on top of the well. The chapel was destroyed in 1945, and rebuilt in 1946.

Hilvarenbeek (Dutch pronunciation: [ɦɪlˌvaːrə(n)ˈbeːk] ) is a municipality and a town in the south of the Netherlands, along the border with Belgium. The biggest tourist attraction is called Beekse Bergen, consisting of a safari park, amusement park/playground, holiday bungalow park, and camping parks. In the centre of the town the Sint-Petrus'-Banden is a Gothic church from the 14th and 15th centuries. The tower is a highlight of the Kempen Gothic.
