Ravels

Weelde is a village in the municipality of Ravels, in the province of Antwerp, Belgium. As of 2021, it has 4,879 inhabitants. Until 1977 Weelde was an independent municipality. The town hall of the municipality of Ravels and the municipal services are located in Weelde. NATO reserve airfield Weelde Air Base is situated in Weelde.

Weelde Air Base (ICAO: EBWE) is a NATO reserve airfield located in Weelde, a village in the Ravels municipality in Belgium. It is operated by the Belgian Air Component that has no military flight operations at that location, besides aircraft arriving to be stored or leaving storage, for example retired F-16 aircraft. The Belgian Air Component also uses the airfield for the activities of the Belgian Air Cadets. Weelde Air Base is also publicly accessible as a light general aviation field and home to the gliding club "Kempische Aero Club".

Oud-Turnhout (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʌuˈtʏr(ə)nɦʌut]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Oud-Turnhout proper. In 2021, Oud-Turnhout had a total population of 14,201. The total area is 38.80 km². There are 3 parishes: Zwaneven in the east, St. Bavo in the centre and Oosthoven in the North. Zwaneven is in the upmarket residential area referred to as "De Lint", where many Dutch people live.

Turnhout (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈtʏr(ə)nɦʌut]) is a Belgian municipality and city located in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the city of Turnhout proper. In 2021, its population was 45,874. The total area is 56.06 km2 (21.64 sq mi). The agglomeration is much more populous, with 81,473 inhabitants. It is known for its playing card industry, and houses the head office of the world's largest manufacturer of playing cards, Cartamundi. Turnhout is also the capital of the administrative district with the same name. The city council often promotes the city as "the capital of the Kempen area". This designation is entirely unofficial, since the Kempen area is far larger than the Turnhout district and does not form an administrative unit. Turnhout serves as the economic and cultural center for other communities in the immediate vicinity with more than 40 schools. There is also an important services sector with two hospitals, a two-stage theatre, an eight-screen cinema and one of the largest cultural centres of Belgium. Turnhout is located at about 51.3 North and 4.9 East, 42 km (26 mi) from the centre of Antwerp, 30 km (19 mi) from Breda and Tilburg, 40 km (25 mi) from Eindhoven. The football club of the city is K.V. Turnhout.

The Battle of Turnhout (27 October 1789) was a decisive military engagement between Belgian revolutionary and Austrian forces at Turnhout in the Austrian Netherlands (modern-day Belgium). It was the first engagement of the Brabant Revolution and took place shortly after the revolutionary (patriot) army of Jean-André van der Mersch crossed the border from the Dutch Republic where it had previously been in exile. Their unlikely victory in the engagement led to the rapid collapse of Austrian rule across the Southern Netherlands and the temporary withdrawal of Austrian forces in the region to Luxembourg.

Turnhout is a railway station in Turnhout, Antwerp, Belgium. The station opened in 1855 and is located on Line 29.

Corsendonk is a Belgian beer brand. The brandname refers to the Priory of Corsendonk in Oud-Turnhout; which was in operation from 1398 to 1784, and was rebuilt in 1968 as a hotel complex by new owners Corsendonk Hotels. In 1982, on the 125th anniversary of the Oud-Turnhout municipality, Jef Keersmaekers, grandson of Antonius Keersmaekers who had founded a brewery in 1906, was approached by the local tourist office to use the Corsendonk name for its abbey association, as an abbey beer marketing technique. He launched Pater Noster, now called Corsendonk Pater (or "Abbey Brown Ale" when marketed in America), and Agnus Dei, now called Corsendonk Agnus (or "Abbey Pale Ale" when marketed in America). As the family brewery had closed down in 1953, the beers were contracted out to other breweries, including Brasserie Du Bocq, who now brew all the brands. Other brands include Corsendonk Blond, Corsendonk Bruin and Corsendonk Christmas Ale.

The Campus Blairon is a business incubator, education site, local government site, medical post and a seminar centre located in Turnhout in the campine region of the Antwerp province (Belgium). Both the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen and the Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen are located on the Campus.

Poppel is a village in the municipality of Ravels, in the province of Antwerp, Belgium. As of 2021, it was home to 3,489 people. Poppel was a municipality until 1977. Poppel borders the Dutch province of North Brabant. Poppel used to be located in a large heath area, however cultivation have transformed into forests and agricultural land. It used to be a domain of the Duchy of Brabant. In 1347, Poppel and nine other villages became part of the Land of Turnhout within Antwerp. Poppel was an independent municipality until 1977 when it was merged into Ravels.

St Joseph College (Dutch: Sint-Jozefcollege) is a Roman Catholic secondary school in Turnhout, Belgium. It was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1845 and was rebuilt in the same style as Xaverius College in Borgerhout.

The Arrondissement of Turnhout (Dutch: Arrondissement Turnhout; French: Arrondissement de Turnhout) is one of the three administrative arrondissements in the Province of Antwerp, Belgium. It is both an administrative and a judicial arrondissement. The territory of the Judicial Arrondissement of Turnhout coincides with that of the Administrative Arrondissement of Turnhout and part of the Campine region.

Arendonk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈaːrəndɔŋk] (listen)) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the town of Arendonk proper. In 2021, Arendonk had a total population of 13,207. The total area is 55.38 km².The spoken language is Kempenlands (an East Brabantian dialect, which is very similar to colloquial Dutch).
