Shibahara-handai-mae Station (柴原阪大前駅, Shibahara-Handai-mae Eki) is a Japanese monorail station of Osaka Monorail in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. "Handai" is a nickname in Japanese for Osaka University, and this station is close to the university's Toyonaka Campus. On October 1, 2019, this station was renamed from Shibahara Station (柴原駅).

Ishibashi handai-mae Station (石橋阪大前駅, Ishibashi handai-mae eki, station number: HK-48) is a train station located in Ikeda, Osaka, but is on the border with Toyonaka to the south and Minoh to the east. It serves as a transfer point for the Hankyu Minoo Line on one side and on the other side is an express station on the Hankyu Takarazuka Line．The station has five platforms connected by tunnels, two for Osaka-Takarazuka service, and three for Minoo service. The station is near to one of the three campuses of Osaka University, though the campus is physically located in neighbouring Toyonaka City. The station is surrounded by bars, karaoke boxes, and izakaya restaurants along with more traditional small-stall shopping streets. The word Ishibashi literally means Stone Bridge, referring to the old stone street bridge immediately north of the station over a small river that serves as the northern end of the shopping area, which is called Akai hashi.

Osaka International Airport (大阪国際空港, Ōsaka Kokusai Kūkō) (IATA: ITM, ICAO: RJOO), often referred to as Itami Airport (伊丹空港, Itami Kūkō) is the primary regional airport for the Kansai region of Japan, including the major cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. Classified as a first class airport, it is the airport closest to Kyoto, 36 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of Kyoto Station. Itami Airport has a small footprint, covering only 311 hectares (768 acres) of land.Despite its "international" designation, the airport caters exclusively to domestic flights. Kansai International Airport (43 kilometres (27 mi) away) took over the region's international traffic in 1994 and competes with Itami for domestic traffic. Itami also faces competition from Kobe Airport (26 kilometres (16 mi) away), a smaller domestic airport opened in 2006. The airport was named after the city of Itami, Hyōgo Prefecture, because most of its land is located there. A portion of the airport property is also located in Toyonaka and Ikeda cities of Osaka Prefecture. The terminal complex is located in all three of these cities, and the only access from the Itami side is via a long tunnel that passes below the runway and apron. In FY2006, Itami was Japan's third busiest airport and the Kansai region's busiest. In 2015, this airport had 139,450 aircraft movements, serving 14,541,936 domestic passengers and carrying 140,668 metric tons of freight cargo.

Toyonaka (豊中市, Toyonaka-shi) is a city in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 May 2023, the city had an estimated population of 399,263 in 179651 households and a population density of 5700 persons per km2. The total area of the city is 36.39 square kilometres (14.05 sq mi). It is a suburban city of Osaka City and a part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area.

The Ikeda Elementary School stabbing was a school stabbing and mass murder that occurred in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, on 8 June 2001, in which Mamoru Takuma, a 37-year-old ex-convict with a history of mentally disturbed and anti-social behavior, stabbed eight students to death and seriously wounded fifteen others in a knife attack that lasted several minutes. Takuma was sentenced to death in August 2003 and executed in September 2004. As of 2023, it is currently the deadliest school attack in Japanese history.
