Simon Cameron School

The Old Uptown Historic District is a historic district in the Midtown neighborhood of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The district stretches from Reily to Maclay between Second and Third street. It consists of large Queen Anne and Italianate architecture built in the late 19th century and very early 20th century. The northern part of the historic district is currently being aggressively renovated by real estate investors.

Uptown is a section of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania located North of the Midtown and Downtown neighborhoods. Bordered by the Susquehanna River to the West, Maclay Street to the South, North 7th Street to the East and Susquehanna Township to the North, the neighborhood is home to many ornate mansions along Front Street and Italian Lake, as well as moderately sized homes exemplifying character of early 20th-century architecture. After being devastated in 1972 by the flooding of Hurricane Agnes, the neighborhood slipped into a moderate decline. With the Susquehanna River's Riverfront Park and Capital Area Greenbelt within walking distance—as well as Italian Lake—Uptown Harrisburg is an example of relaxed urban living. Much of Uptown's development (post-automobile) lends itself to having longer blocks, rear alleys with detached garages, and shopping plazas/large surface parking lots.Uptown contains three Historic Places on the National Register: Camp Curtin Fire Station, Camp Curtin Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, and Polyclinic Medical Center.

Sheffield Apartments is a historic apartment building located at Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1925, and is a three-story, rectangular brick building in the Mission Revival style. The facade is three bays wide, and it features three story bay windows on each side of the center entrance bay. It has 14 apartments.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

William Donaldson House is a historic home located at Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It was designed by Smith & Warner and built in 1887, and is a 3+1⁄2-story Queen Anne style dwelling funded by William Mayne Donaldson, president of the Donaldson Paper Company. A rear addition was constructed about 1910. It has a stone foundation, brick first story, and wood shingle second and third stories. It features irregular massing, a variety of surface textures, multiple intersecting roofs, bay windows, porch and balconies, and a turret with spindle. The house was converted to apartments in 1925.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Pennsylvania National Fire Museum is a museum devoted to fire fighter heritage in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. The museum has an outstanding collection of artifacts from the hand-drawn equipment, extensive collection of vintage fire apparatus, artifacts, pictures and information about the history of fire fighting in Pennsylvania and throughout the United States.The museum is housed in the former 1899 Victorian firehouse Reily Hose Company No. 10, of the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire.

Capitol Heights is a community of nearly 200 townhouse and single-family duplexes in the Midtown neighborhood of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Most of the new homes are located east of Third between Kelker and Reily and along Fulton, 4th and 5th street. The neighborhood is known for its generic suburban-style architecture fitted to the existing street grid. The area was previously referred to informally as "Lottsville" due to its many abandoned and vacant lots, so the City and private developers worked together in the 2000s as it was a targeted area for demolition and urban renewal.

The Midtown neighborhood is delineated by Forster Street to the south, Maclay Street to the north, 7th Street to the east, and the Susquehanna River to the west. Former Harrisburg Mayor William K. Verbeke is the namesake for Verbeke Street (formerly Broad Street) and first bought and developed the area. Midtown is home to the Pennsylvania Governor's Residence (at its boundary with Uptown) and the Broad Street Market, the oldest continually operated street market in the country. Midtown became named as such following World War II as state government construction expanded further north from the Capitol District. By 1977 the Midtown Square Action Council was established, and starting with the 1980s revitalization began and has continued since.The section of Midtown from Reily to Kelker Streets and 2nd to 3rd Streets is known as Engleton. Olde Uptown is a neighborhood of large homes built in the early 1900s between Kelker and Maclay streets. The area, crime ridden for many years, is currently being aggressively renovated and rehabbed. Much of this neighborhood lies within the Old Uptown Historic District.

The Wesley Union African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is an AME Zion Church of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It was formally founded in 1829, starting with a log church building. As the congregation grew throughout the 19th century, the building was expanded until two brick church buildings were constructed in 1862 and 1898. For a period of time, the church operated a school for African American children.

The Holocaust Memorial for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is a Holocaust memorial at Front and Sayford Streets along Riverfront Park, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It was conceived by a committee of Holocaust survivors in 1992 representing the Jewish Community Center of Harrisburg. In light of publicity given to the U.S. Holocaust Museum, a group of survivors that had lived in the Harrisburg area pressed for a local memorial. It was designed by David Ascalon for $200,000 on a site designated by the City of Harrisburg along the public park land adjacent to the Susquehanna River. The Memorial was dedicated in 1994. An annual Yom Hashoah observance is held at the site.

Camp Curtin is a historic neighborhood in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's northern end, located in Uptown and named for the American Civil War camp of the same name. It is bordered currently by landmarks of Fifth Street to the west, the railroad tracks next to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex to the east, Maclay Street to the south, and Reels Lane to the North.

Harrisburg's Independence Day Celebration is an annual music and food festival that takes place in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Fourth of July weekend. It is the state's largest Independence Day weekend music festival. Festivities take place along Riverfront Park and City Island and consist of street concerts, food and craft vendors, a wine/beer garden, amusement rides and a large fireworks display.
