Unlike many of California's irrigation districts, it is not an electrical utility.

After it became the Champion Group following annexation of additional adjacent mining concerns, it became one of the two most productive mining groups in the Nevada City Mining District, alongside the North Star Mine, which eventually purchased it. The Champion-Providence Mine closed in 1920.

The Woolman Semester was a semester school focused on the intersections of peace, social justice, and sustainability. The school operated from the Spring of 2004 through the Spring of 2016. Students came from all over the country to attend Woolman for a single semester during their high school junior, senior, or gap year. Students spent a semester deeply immersed in contemporary topics and exploring issues first hand . Students worked with each other, staff and interns to run the daily operations of the school, including cooking meals, chopping firewood, and growing and harvesting the food eaten at the school. The classes of the program were Global Thinking, Peace Studies, Environmental Science, Non-violent Communication, Ceramics, and Farm to Table. Woolman is the only Quaker (Friends) semester school in the country, and in accordance with the philosophy of Quaker Education the Woolman Semester curriculum centers around collaboration, activism, and open inquiry into local and global issues.

Grass Valley Pioneer Jewish Cemetery, also known as Shaar Zedek (English: Gate of Righteousness) is a no longer active Jewish cemetery founded in 1856 by the Hebrew Benevolent of Society of Grass Valley, and is located in Grass Valley, California, U.S. The last burial happened in 1891. It is a private site operated by the Commission for the Preservation of Pioneer Jewish Cemeteries and Landmarks in the West and is not open to the public.

The Holbrooke Hotel is located in Grass Valley, California, USA. It is notable as the oldest hotel that has been in continuous operation in California's Mother Lode. The hotel was built in 1862 in mid-19th century Mother Lode masonry architectural style, and incorporated the Golden Gate Saloon which has been in continuous operation since 1852.
