The Classic Flyers Museum is an aviation museum located at the Tauranga Airport, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, owned by a registered New Zealand charitable trust, the Bay of Plenty Classic Aircraft Trust.The museum has a range of flying and static aircraft displays as well as a cafe.

Mount Maunganui College is a state coeducational secondary school and is located in Tauranga, New Zealand. It was established in 1958, the same year that Tauranga College was split into Tauranga Boys' College and Tauranga Girls' College. It has many classrooms, a library, two large halls, a 33-metre outdoor swimming pool, basketball court, a large sports field and several netball/tennis courts. There is also a Māori wharenui located on the ground.

The Port of Tauranga is situated in Tauranga, New Zealand. The port is located in a natural harbour protected by Mount Maunganui and Matakana Island, and is the only natural harbour between Auckland and Wellington offering good shelter in all weather. Moturiki Island is a small island located just off Mount Maunganui beach, in the North Island of New Zealand. The island is connected to the beach by a man made land bridge. NIWA maintains a tide metre on Moturiki Island. Moturiki Island offers walking, bird watching, fishing and rock climbing opportunities.In 1966, Marineland Limited built an aquarium called "Marineland" on the island; this closed in May 1981. Later in 1981, "Marineland" was reconstructed into "Leisure Island", a water park with swimming pools, bumper boats and a hydro slide. The water park operated until 1990, when it was removed from the island.

Tauranga Airport (IATA: TRG, ICAO: NZTG) is an airport serving the city of Tauranga, New Zealand. It is located adjacent to Tauranga Harbour in the suburb of Mount Maunganui, approximately 3 km northeast of Tauranga CBD. The terminal is located to the north of the runway, on Jean Batten Drive, and consists of a two-storey building with four tarmac gates. Air New Zealand serves the airport through its subsidiaries Mount Cook Airline and Air Nelson, with flights to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. A further two regional airlines also operate to the airport, as well as scenic and charter flights, skydiving operations and general aviation.

Mount Maunganui (Māori pronunciation: [ˈmaʉŋaˌnʉi], locally ) is a major residential, commercial and industrial suburb of Tauranga located on a peninsula to the north-east of Tauranga's city centre. It was an independent town from Tauranga until the completion of the Tauranga Harbour Bridge in 1988, which connects Mount Maunganui to Tauranga's central business district. Mount Maunganui is also the name of the large lava dome which was formed by the upwelling of rhyolite lava about two to three million years ago. It is officially known by its Māori name Mauao, but is colloquially known in New Zealand simply as The Mount.The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "large mountain" for Maunganui.

Omanu is a beach and suburb in Tauranga, in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. The white sandy beach is accessible via several public walkways through the dunes. It is a popular place to swim, surf and walk, and hosts surf lifesaving competitions.A surf lifesaving club was established at Omanu in 1947 to patrol the beach. It is now the largest surf club in Bay of Plenty, and has the largest children's nippers programme in New Zealand.Between July 2014 and December 2015, Omanu recorded the most burglaries of any suburb in Tauranga. Police say many of the thieves are opportunists.The club also patrolled Papamoa Beach until a new club was established there in 1990.A new club house was proposed in 2002 and completed in June 2006.Tauranga City Council monitors erosion at the beach regularly and replenishes sand every year.

The Tauranga Harbour Bridge refers to two bridges (the original two lanes wide, and the new three lanes wide) that carry Te Awanui Drive over the Tauranga Harbour. Te Awanui Drive is part of an expressway that connects Tauranga CBD to Mount Maunganui. On the Tauranga CBD side, Te Awanui Drive connects to Takitimu Drive, which crosses the Chapel Street Viaduct before running along the edge of the Waikareao Estuary. On the Mount Maunganui side, Te Awanui Drive connects to Hewletts Road, which runs through an industrial area towards Maunganui Road.

Mount Maunganui, or Mauao, known as The Mount by locals is a dormant volcanic cone at the end of a peninsula in the Suburb of Mount Maunganui, by the eastern entrance to the Tauranga Harbour in New Zealand. It is considered very important and tapu (sacred) by the local Māori iwi, featuring extensively in local mythology. It is also of significant historical value. The summit is 232 metres above sea level. In recent years there have been several fires on the mountain, in turn triggering a number of replanting efforts. Since Mount Maunganui has been open to the general public it has become a popular location for many activities including scenic walks, jogging and even hang gliding.

Ngāti Pūkenga is a Māori iwi centred in Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand. Its rohe (tribal area) extends to Mayor Island / Tuhua and Waihi in the north, to the Kaimai Range in the west, south of Te Puke and to Maketu in the east, and it has tribal holdings in Whangarei, Hauraki and Maketu.Ngāti Pūkenga is part of the Tauranga Moana iwi group, which also includes Ngāi Te Rangi and Ngāti Ranginui. The three iwi all consider Mauao (Mt Maunganui) sacred and share many things in common. Collectively, the iwi are seeking compensation from the New Zealand Government for their losses from the New Zealand Wars but are yet to seek a settlement.

Tauranga Domain is a park and sports stadium in Tauranga, New Zealand. It is used mainly for rugby union matches and serves as a home ground for the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union. The origins of the park go back to 1873, when Tauranga residents applied to the Native Minister for a domain to be set aside. Five years later, the park was extended to the south. In 1881, the northern part was set aside for a secondary school. War memorial gates commemorate local men who died in World War I, and the gates are registered with Heritage New Zealand as a Category II item.The park hosted its first National Provincial Championship game in 2015. Bay of Plenty lost to the visiting Waikato team by 43-10. It also hosted host two more games in the 2016 Mitre 10 Cup. One against Taranaki and the other against Otago.
