Elsebach

Wannebach is a stream of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The spring of the Wannebach is in Bürenbruch, a part of Ergste, which is a district of Schwerte. It is a left tributary of the Ruhr.

Ergste is a stadtbezirk (a district) of the town of Schwerte in Germany. As of 31 December 2012, Ergste had a population of 7025 inhabitants. It lies south of the river Ruhr near Sauerland. Ergste is twinned with the French commune Allouagne. Ergste has bus connections inside the district, to central Schwerte and Iserlohn-Letmathe. Furthermore you can find an own train station here. It is served by train line RB53 between Iserlohn and Dortmund via Schwerte. On weekdays the connections on this line are half-hourly.

Schwerte station is a through station in the town of Schwerte in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The station was opened with the section of the Hagen–Hamm railway between Hagen and Holzwickede, opened by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company (German: Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft, BME) on 1 April 1867. It has six platform tracks and it is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 4 station.The station is served by the Rhein-Münsterland-Express (RE 7) between Krefeld and Rheine, the Maas-Wupper-Express (RE 13) between Venlo and Hamm, the Sauerland-Express (RE 17) between Hagen and Warburg or Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe and the Ardey-Bahn (RB 53) between Dortmund and Iserlohn, each hourly.

Wannebach is a small river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is right tributary of the Ruhr. Its source is near Dortmund-Syburg, north of the Hengsteysee. It joins the Ruhr near Schwerte-Westhofen, about 900 m downstream from the other Wannebach.

Villigst is a Stadtteil (district) of the city Schwerte in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. On 31 December 2012, Villigst had a population of 3.309 inhabitants. It lies south of the river Ruhr near Sauerland. It borders on Ergste, another district of Schwerte. On 1 January 1975 Villigst was incorporated into the city Schwerte, before it belonged to Iserlohn.

The Ruhr pocket was a battle of encirclement that took place in April 1945, on the Western Front near the end of the second World War, in the Ruhr Area of Germany. Some 317,000 German troops were taken prisoner along with 24 generals. The Americans suffered 10,000 casualties including 2,000 killed or missing. Exploiting the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen on 7 March 1945, the U.S. 12th Army Group (General Omar Bradley) advanced rapidly into German territory south of Army Group B (Generalfeldmarschall (field marshal) Walter Model). In the north, the Allied 21st Army Group (Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery) crossed the Rhine in Operation Plunder on 23 March. The lead elements of the two Allied army groups met on 1 April 1945, east of the Ruhr, to create the encirclement of 317,000 German troops to their west. While the bulk of the U.S. forces advanced east towards the Elbe river, 18 U.S. divisions remained behind to destroy Army Group B. The reduction of the German pocket began on 1 April by the U.S. Ninth Army, with the forces of the U.S. First Army joining on 4 April. For 13 days the Germans delayed or resisted the U.S. advance. On 14 April, the First and Ninth armies met, splitting the German pocket in half and German resistance began to crumble. Having lost contact with its units, the German 15th Army capitulated the same day. Model dissolved his army group on 15 April and ordered the Volksturm and non-combatant personnel to discard their uniforms and go home. On 16 April the bulk of the German forces surrendered en masse to the U.S. divisions. Organized resistance came to an end on 18 April. Unwilling to surrender with his rank of field marshal into Allied captivity, Model committed suicide on the afternoon of 21 April.

Wannebach is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It springs northeast of Stübbeken, a district of Iserlohn. It is a right tributary of the Lenne near Hagen.

Husen Castle (Burg Husen) is a medieval tower house of a castle in the Dortmund borough of Syburg in North Rhine-Westphalia. The origins of the site go back to the 13th century. The present shape of the tower house dates to the 17th century. It is included in the monument inden of the city of Dortmund as a listed building.The estate with its pastures and stands of trees that belongs to Syburg is about 7,000 m² in area and lies in the triangle formed by the cities of Dortmund, Schwerte and Hagen. The Verband Christlicher Pfadfinderinnen und Pfadfinder (VCP) of Westphalia Land took over the castle in 1984 and uses it as a youth holiday home with and youth campsite.

Dortmund-Aplerbeck Süd station is a railway station in the southern part of the Aplerbeck district in the town of Dortmund, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The Magnet Museum (German: Magnetmuseum) is a private museum in Dortmund-Aplerbeck, owned by the company Tridelta. The exhibition provides an overview of historical and current applications of the permanent magnet in electrical engineering. In the museum, the use of permanent magnets in counters, speakers, telephones, switches, relays, clocks, measuring devices, small motors and generators are illuminated in the museum. One focus of the collection is the history of the magnet factory of Dortmund, which was established in the 1920s.

Limburg-Hohenlimburg was a county in Germany in the Middle Ages. It was created as a partition of Limburg-Isenberg by Diederck I of Isenberg, who called himself in 1246 Diederick I van Limburg. Of Diederick's two sons, the eldest son Johan who died in 1277 at the adge of thirty and left two sons and one daughter. He is the ancestor of the lordship Styrum. His youger brother Everhard continued 30 years more, the struggle with his father for the conquest of former Isenberger family property. Everhard, in 1301 the 'nearest in the bloodline', succeeded his father.
