Orpe

Scherfede station is located in the Warburg district of Rimbeck in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. A busy locomotive workshop developed there up to the mid-20th century.

The Klingenbachtal Nature Reserve in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, consists of 27.44 hectares to the west of Scherfede within municipal area of Warburg located in Höxter. The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) in 2002 by the regional government of Detmold. The Bundesautobahn 45 cuts through this NSG. Since 2004 the NSG has been a subarea of the Birds Directive of the European Union (abbreviated as Egge) under NR. DE-4419-401 in the European Union reserve system Natura 2000

Welda is a village and constituent community (stadtteil) of the town of Warburg, in the district of Höxter in the east of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Welda has historically been known by the names of Wellede, Welde and Kerkwellede. Welda has an area of 9.22 km² and a population of 808.

The Battle of Warburg was fought on 31 July 1760 during the Seven Years' War. The battle was a victory for the Hanoverians and the British against a slightly larger French army. The victory meant the Anglo-German allies had successfully defended Westphalia from the French by preventing a crossing of the Diemel River, but were forced to abandon the allied state of Hesse-Kassel to the south. The fortress of Kassel ultimately fell, and would remain in French hands until the final months of the war, when it was finally recaptured by the Anglo-German allies in late 1762. The British general, John Manners, Marquess of Granby, became famous in the battle for charging at the head of the British cavalry and losing his hat and wig during the charge. The French lost 1500 men, killed and wounded, around 1,500 prisoners and ten pieces of artillery.

Hofbrauhaus Arolsen or Royal Brewery Arolsen is the oldest brewery in the Hesse federal state, located in Bad Arolsen town, Germany. Recent company name is "Hofbrauhaus Heinrich Brüne GmbH & Co. KG" and from 1910 is run by 4th generation of the Brüne family. Beer was originally produced for the "Aroldessen" (old name for Arolsen) monastery and then for the court of the Count of Waldeck before city of Arolsen was founded.

Arolsen Castle (German: Residenzschloss Arolsen) is a baroque-style schloss in Bad Arolsen, Hesse, Germany. The castle is now a museum, and is still inhabited by Wittekind, Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont and his family. As a result, it continues to serve as a residence of the former ruling family of the Principality of Waldeck and Pyrmont. It was the birthplace of Princess Emma of Waldeck and Pyrmont, who became the Queen consort of the Netherlands during the late 19th century.

Kleppe is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia and of Hesse, Germany. It flows into the Orpe in Marsberg-Canstein.

The Twistesee is a reservoir on the Twiste in the county of Waldeck-Frankenberg in North Hesse, Germany.

The Watter is a 21.9-kilometre-long (13.6 mi) tributary of the Twiste river of Hesse, Germany. It flows into the Twiste near Volkmarsen.

Bad Arolsen (German: [baːt ˈʔaːʁɔlzn̩] , until 1997 Arolsen, Bad being the German name for Spa) is a small town in northern Hesse, Germany, in Waldeck-Frankenberg district. From 1655 until 1918 it served as the residence town of the Princes of Waldeck-Pyrmont and then until 1929 as the capital of the Waldeck Free State. The International Tracing Service has its headquarters in Bad Arolsen.

The County of Waldeck (later the Principality of Waldeck and Principality of Waldeck and Pyrmont) was a state of the Holy Roman Empire and its successors from the late 12th century until 1929. In 1349 the county gained Imperial immediacy and in 1712 was raised to the rank of principality. After the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806 it was a constituent state of its successors: the Confederation of the Rhine, the German Confederation, the North German Confederation, and the German Empire. After the abolition of the monarchy in 1918, the renamed Free State of Waldeck-Pyrmont became a component of the Weimar Republic until divided between Hannover and other Prussian provinces in 1929. It comprised territories in present-day Hesse and Lower Saxony (Germany).

The Twiste is a river of Hesse and of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the most important tributary of the Diemel, which it joins in Warburg. Its largest tributaries are the Erpe, Watter, Aar and Wande.
