Battery Heights Historic District

WPJL (1240 kHz) is a currently silent commercial AM radio station, licensed to Raleigh, North Carolina, and serving the Research Triangle. The station, owned by WPJL, Inc., aired a Christian talk and teaching radio format before going silent on July 31, 2023. Religious leaders heard on WPJL included Adrian Rogers, J. Vernon McGee, Joyce Meyer, Jim Daly, Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and Chuck Swindoll. WPJL is authorized for 1,000 watts non-directional, with studios and transmitter site on Bart Street in Raleigh.

Raleigh National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in the city of Raleigh in Wake County, North Carolina. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 7 acres (2.8 ha), and as of the end of 2005, had 6,000 interments. It is currently closed to new interments and is maintained by New Bern National Cemetery.

Lucille Hunter GT/ AIG Basics Magnet Elementary School, also known as Hunter Magnet Elementary School, formerly Lucille Hunter School, is a historically black elementary school for academically intellectually gifted students in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Hunter Elementary offers Gifted & Talented curriculum and was Wake County's first magnet school. The school was the first school in North Carolina to be named after an African-American educator.

John W. Ligon GT Magnet Middle School, formerly John W. Ligon Junior-Senior High School, is a public magnet middle school in the Wake County Public School System located in the Chavis Heights neighborhood of Raleigh, North Carolina. It was historically an all black high school in Raleigh until it was integrated in 1971.

Saint Augustine's University is a private historically black Christian college in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was founded by Episcopal clergy in 1867 for the education of freed slaves. The institution's accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, has voted to rescind its accreditation; the college remains accredited while it appeals that decision.

North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) is the primary North Carolina Department of Public Safety prison facility housing female inmates on a 30-acre (12 ha) campus in Raleigh, North Carolina, and serves as a support facility for the six other women's prisons throughout the state. The facility's inmate population, which is the largest in the state, consists of inmates from all custody levels and control statuses including death row, maximum security, close custody, medium security, minimum security, and safekeepers.

Historic Oakwood is a neighborhood in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, on the National Register of Historic Places, and known for its Historic Oakwood Cemetery, its many Victorian houses and its location close to the Mordecai Plantation Manor. Located near the State Capitol and St. Augustine's Chapel, during the 19th century Historic Oakwood was home to prominent members of Raleigh's society. It is North Carolina's largest, intact 19th Century residential neighborhood and Raleigh's earliest white middle-class suburb. Unlike later suburbs, it developed lot-by-lot over time, instead of by platted sections. Its Victorian-era architectural styles include Second Empire, Queen Anne, and Italianate. Later infill brought the bungalow, the American Foursquare, American Craftsman style, and the Minimal Traditional house to the area.Oakwood is also known for its Christmas Candlelight Tour, which opens private historic residences to the public, and the Garden Tour, which allows the public to see the vast gardens worked on by the Oakwood Gardening Club.Oakwood was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, with additions made in 1987, 1988, and 1989. It is also one of six local historic overlay districts (HOD). Several Oakwood residences are also individually recognized as Local Historic Landmarks.

Mary E. Phillips High School is an alternative education high school in eastern Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. It is located east of St. Augustine's college and less than a mile from William G. Enloe High School. The school is a non-traditional high school 9 through 12 that focuses on students who have not been successful in traditional school programs. These struggles can be with attendance, academic performance, or minor behavioral issues. In the 2016–17 school year, Phillips High School capped at approximately 170 students. It employs approximately 30 teachers with a total staff of 40. The current principal is Robbie Gupton, who began at Phillips in July 2017.

William A. Curtis House, also known as Villa Florenza, is a historic home located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built about 1915, and is a two-story, three bay wide, Late Victorian-style frame dwelling with a pyramidal roof. It has a full-height pedimented wing and one-story rear kitchen ell. It features a one-story wraparound porch. It was home to a prominent African-American family.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Wake Young Men's Leadership Academy (WYMLA) is a public secondary school for boys in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is a part of Wake County Public School System. It has grades 6–13, with the former Thompson School in Downtown Raleigh having most grades, except the campus of St. Augustine's University has grades 11 through 13.

William G. Enloe GT/IB Magnet Center for the Humanities, Sciences and the Arts, also known as Enloe Magnet High School or Enloe High School, is a public magnet high school offering Gifted & Talented and International Baccalaureate programs located in eastern Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. It is operated under the Wake County Public School System. The first integrated public high school in the city of Raleigh, it was named after William Gilmore Enloe, the Mayor of Raleigh at the time the school was opened.

Historic Oakwood Cemetery was founded in 1869 in Raleigh, North Carolina, the state capital of North Carolina, near the North Carolina State Capitol in the city's Historic Oakwood neighborhood. Historic Oakwood Cemetery contains two special areas within its 102 acres (41 ha), the Confederate Cemetery, located on the original two and one-half acres (1 ha), and the Hebrew Cemetery, both given for that purpose by Henry Mordecai in 1867.
