It is also the name of the civil parish (known in Cornish as Pluw Gew), which includes the church town, St Kew, and nearby St Kew Highway (Fordhveur). The parish is named for a Welsh saint, Cywa or Kew, possibly the sister of Docco, also known as: Docuin, Docwinn, Docquinn, who founded a monastery at or near the village of St Kew. The 15th-century church is now dedicated to St James.

It is a linear village stradling the B3314 Wadebridge to Delabole road about five miles (8 km) northwest of Wadebridge, four miles (6.5 km) southeast of Delabole, and two miles (3 km) southeast of Port Isaac. Pendoggett has a population of about 175 people. The name means head of two woods in Cornish; 'Penn' meaning head, 'dew' meaning two and 'goes' being a mutation of 'koes' which means wood. The Cornish Arms is a 16th-century inn. The boundary of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) follows the B3314 through Pendoggett village, meaning that part of the village is inside the AONB and part is outside.

It is situated beside the A39 trunk road approximately two miles east of Wadebridge.The site is north of the village of St Mabyn, approximately 300 metres east of Three Holes Cross on the border of the parish of Egloshayle. Radiocarbon dating has dated the occupation of Kelly Rounds to between 400 and 100 BC. More carbon dating has dated a pre-hill fort occupation as between 1250 and 950 BC.

Three Holes Cross is a medieval wayside cross and junction on the A39 trunk road approximately 2 miles east of Wadebridge, Cornwall, United Kingdom at grid reference SX 01171 73668.The cross is made of granite and stands 1.5 m high. The wheelhead includes four holes of which only three are fully cut through, giving the name of the cross and junction. The cross is a scheduled monument and Grade II listed building.There is a settlement of a few houses nearby. The nearest house, a little way away from the cross was formerly the toll house to allow passage to Wadebridge. An Iron Age fort known locally as Kelly Rounds (but mapped by Ordnance Survey as Castle Killibury) is situated 300 metres west of Three Holes Cross.

Tregarden is a Grade II* listed large house built by the Barrett family in the late 16th century in the parish of St Mabyn, Cornwall, England. The house is built to a traditional E-shaped Elizabethan plan. The entrance archway is dated 1631, the date that William Godolphin married the Barrett heiress. The Hearth Tax Returns for 1664 record it as having 8 hearths. The house became a farmhouse in the 19th century. It is currently a restored manor house owned by the Tremayne family.

It formed part of the Saints Way Multi Academy Trust, until 2022 when it became part of St Barnabas Multi-Academy Trust.
