The Padrão Comemorativo da Batalha do Salado, commonly referred to as just Padrão do Salado, is a 14th century monument located in the freguesia of Oliveira, São Paio e São Sebastião, inside the Historic Center of Guimarães area, in Portugal. Located in front of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, the Padrão do Salado has been classified as a National Monument since 1910.

Oliveira, São Paio e São Sebastião (officially: União das Freguesias de Oliveira, São Paio e São Sebastião) is a civil parish in the municipality of Guimarães, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Oliveira do Castelo, São Paio, and São Sebastião. The population in 2021 was 7,832, in an area of 1.55 km2. The civil parish makes up the city centre of Guimarães.

The Santa Maria Street (Portuguese: Rua de Santa Maria) is a street of medieval origin in the historic centre of Guimarães, being for many centuries the most important street in Guimarães and home to some of its elite. The street currently connects the Oliveira and the São Paio Square to the Carmo Square. It is already referred to by the name “Rua de Santa Maria” in documents that date to the 12th century, although its upper section was given the old name of Rua da Infesta (Infesta Street).Along its route there are various notable architectural and cultural testimonies of the past: Convent of Santa Clara, a 16th century boroque style convent now used as the câmara municipal of Guimarães. Raul Brandão Library, built in 1834, is dedicated to the renowned figure Raul Brandão and currently serves as the municipal library of Guimarães. Casa do Arco, it was built in the end of the 15th century, Manuel I once slept here after coming from a trip to Santiago de Compostela. Other historical figures like king Miguel I the painter Auguste Roquemont also spent some nights here with the last one living here in the 1830s. House of the Peixotos, built in the 1700s, it was a noble family’s house. House of the Valadares de Carvalho, one of the oldest buildings that are still standing on that street, it was built in the 15th century, it was a noble family’s house. House of Senhora Aninhas, the house where the “mother and protector of the students of Guimarães” lived, and one of the 5 locations where the Pregão is declaimed. The house where Mário de Vasconcelos Cardoso was born.

The Raul Brandão Municipal Library (Portuguese: Biblioteca Municipal Raul Brandão) is located in Guimarães, and it has been part of the National Public Reading Network (Rede Nacional de Leitura Pública) since 1987.The library was created after the Portuguese writer Branquinho da Fonseca was invited by Azeredo Perdigão, in 1958, to found and direct the Library services of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The Toural Square (Portuguese: Largo do Toural), commonly referred as just Toural, is the most important square and place of gathering on the Portuguese city of Guimarães. It began in the 17th century as a place to sell bulls (Touro in Portuguese), oxen and other goods. Unlike the rest of the city, pigeons aren’t commonly found in the Toural, but swallows are.

The St. Peter's Basilica (Portuguese: Basílica de São Pedro) also called St. Peter's Church Is a Catholic church built in neoclassical style in the parish of Oliveira, São Paio and São Sebastião, Guimaraes in the north of the European country of Portugal. Its origin dates back to the beginning of the 17th century, although the work only began in 1737. By 1750 the chapel was blessed. The formal completion of the work was between 1883 and 1884, although the façade had not been completed, and the second bell tower is still missing. The cathedral was desecrated during the Napoleonic Wars and was used as a stable. It received the title of minor basilica in 1751 from Pope Benedict XIV. The basilica follows a neoclassical style, very austere and simple.

The Palace of the Dukes of Braganza (Portuguese: Paço dos Duques de Bragança) is a medieval estate and former residence of the first Dukes of Braganza, located in the historical centre of Guimarães (Oliveira do Castelo), in the north-western part of Portugal. It was initiated between 1420 and 1422 by Afonso, Count of Barcelos, the illegitimate son of John I of Portugal (and future Duke of Bragança), after his marriage to his second wife. His prodigeny would occupy the space until the Dukes of Braganza moved to Vila Viçosa, abandoning the palace. The 16th Century marked the beginning of period of ruin, which was aggravated during the 19th century, when the local population used the palace as a personal quarry. During the Estado Novo regime, a controversial restoration restored the Palace, while implying a grandeur that may not have existed. The Palace of the Dukes was classified as a National Monument (Portuguese: Monumento Nacional) in 1910, and has been an official residence for the Presidency.

The Church of São Miguel do Castelo (Portuguese: Igreja de São Miguel do Castelo) is a medieval church in the civil parish of Oliveira do Castelo, municipality of Guimarães, in the northern district of Braga of Portugal. The church is emblematically linked to the foundation of the Portuguese Kingdom. Legend suggests that it was the sight of the baptism of the young Afonso Henriques. These claims are contradictory, since the date of the church's founding has been suggested to be during the reign of Afonso II of Portugal.

The Jordão Theatre, (Portuguese: Teatro Jordão), was inaugurated in the city of Guimarães on 20 November 1938, with the official name of Martins Sarmento Theatre, due to a political decision communicated days before its opening. It was the initiative of businessman Bernardino Jordão (1868-1940), concessionaire for electricity in Guimarães, who entrusted the project and construction management to architect and civil engineer Júlio José de Brito (1896-1965), whose best-known work is the Rivoli Theatre in Porto.

The Castle of Guimarães (Portuguese: Castelo de Guimarães), is the principal medieval castle in the municipality Guimarães, in the northern region of Portugal. It was built under the orders of Mumadona Dias in the 10th century to defend the monastery from attacks by Moors and Norsemen.The castle is a military fortification grounded primarily in the late Romanesque period, and elaborated during the early Gothic epoch of Portuguese architecture. Its area is delineated by walls forming a pentagram, similar to a shield, that includes eight rectangular towers, military square and central keep. Originating in the foundations of a Roman structure, from the writings of Alfredo Guimarães, it was later elaborated on the French model, in its current the form of a shield, with reduced central yard and difficult accesses. It includes several Gothic characteristics, owing to its remodelling at the end of the 13th century, when the keep and residences were constructed (possibly over pre-existing structures).
