Gobelins Manufactory

Les Gobelins (French pronunciation: ​[le ɡɔblɛ̃]) is a station on Line 7 of the Paris Métro. It opened on 15 February 1930 as part of a planned section of the line, which was temporarily operated as part of Line 10 until the completion of the under-Seine crossing of Line 7 from Pont de Sully to Place Monge. The station was integrated into Line 7 on 26 April 1931. The station is at the crossroads of four main roads: the Avenue des Gobelins, Boulevard Saint Marcel, Boulevard Arago and Boulevard de Port-Royal. This station is named after the Avenue des Gobelins, which honours the Gobelin family who manufactured dyes from the mid 15th century on the banks of the nearby river Bièvre (now covered in the area). The family manufactured tapestry from 1662, until the factory (adjacent to the station) was acquired by Louis XIV.

Gobelins, l'école de l'image is a school of visual communication and arts in Paris, with its main location near the Latin Quarter. A consular school funded by the Parisian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, it provides several programs at a range of fees. It is best known for the Cinéma Department of Animation, founded in 1975 by Pierre Ayma, who brought the school into the spotlight. It has an international reputation, producing numerous talented individuals and teams hired by the world's leading animation studios, including Disney, Universal, Hanna Barbera, Pixar, DreamWorks and Warner Bros. Its former students include many strip cartoonists and animation artists such as Didier Cassegrain, Cromwell, Jean-François Miniac, and Pierre Coffin. The faculty includes world-class industry leaders such as Michel Bouvet. Over the years, Gobelins has introduced major innovations in multimedia content, developing products for the web, CD ROM, Interactive DVD, and public installations. The video department, created by Daniel Boullay and Guy Chevalier for the training of adult students, has since 1985 been prominent in the French technical audio-visual landscape. Led by Daniel Desmoulins, the video department allows professionals to create or analyze techniques, keeping current with the rapid evolution of industry technologies. Gobelins also offers instruction in photography and graphic design.

L'école Estienne is the traditional name of the l'École supérieure des arts et industries graphiques (ESAIG) (Graduate School of Arts and Printing Industry). It is located at 18, Boulevard Auguste-Blanqui in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, not far from the Butte-aux-Cailles.

The 13th arrondissement of Paris (XIIIe arrondissement) is one of the 20 arrondissements of the capital city of France. In spoken French, this arrondissement is referred to as treizième. The 13th arrondissement is also home to the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand and the newly built business district of Paris Rive Gauche.

The Cité florale (English: floral city} is a residential area located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, France. It forms a triangular area with individual houses. Each of the houses within the neighbourhood has its own flower garden, the streets are paved and are named after flowers. The appearance of this area is unusual because it is surrounded by buildings much more modern.

The École nationale de chimie physique et biologie de Paris (ENCPB), renamed in 2009 "lycée Pierre-Gilles-de-Gennes - ENCPB" after physician Pierre-Gilles de Gennes died in 2007, is a public secondary and higher school specialising in technical and scientific subjects and preparatory classes to the grandes écoles (CPGE). It is located at 11 rue Pirandello in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

The Lycée Rodin is a French secondary and higher school located at 19, rue Corvisart in Paris, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. The school is named after Auguste Rodin, who was born and raised in the area.

The Place d'Italie (French pronunciation: ​[plas d‿itali]; English: Italy Square) is a public space in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. Place d'Italie (French pronunciation: ​[plas ditali], literally "Italy Square") is a rapid transit station of the Paris Métro located in the heart of the 13th arrondissement of Paris, at the Place d'Italie. It is the southern terminus of Line 5 and is also served by Line 6 and Line 7.

Corvisart (French pronunciation: ​[kɔʁvizaʁ]) is an elevated station of the Paris Métro serving line 6 at the intersection of the Rue du Corvisart and the Boulevard Auguste Blanqui in the 13th arrondissement.

The Hôpital Broca is a hospital of the Public Assistance - Paris Hospitals (AP-HP) located at 54-56 rue Pascal in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, specializing in clinical gerontology.
