Hudson, New Hampshire

Hudson is a census-designated place (CDP) and the urban center of the town of Hudson in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 7,534 at the 2020 census, out of 25,394 in the entire town.

The G.O. Sanders House is a historic house at 10 Derry Street (New Hampshire Route 102) in the center of Hudson, New Hampshire. Built in 1873-75 by George Sanders, this 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house is a well-preserved example of French Second Empire style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Hills Memorial Library is the former public library of Hudson, New Hampshire, in the United States. It was erected in memory of Ida Virginia Hills by her husband, Dr. Alfred Hills, and her mother, Mary Field Creutzborg. The land had been previously donated by Kimball Webster for the express purpose of building a public library. The new building was designed by architect Hubert G. Ripley, built during the winter of 1908–09 and opened to the public on June 12, 1909. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2012. The town of Hudson closed the facility on May 18, 2009, as the library collection was moved to the new George H. and Ella M. Rodgers Memorial Library.

Salmon Brook is one of the six major tributaries of the Merrimack River in northeastern Massachusetts in the United States. Its watershed is 31 square miles (80 km2) and is one of the 14 subwatersheds of the Merrimack River. It passes through Dunstable, Massachusetts, and Nashua, New Hampshire.

St. Anthony College was a bachelor's degree-granting seminary college in Hudson, New Hampshire, that provided a foundation for men preparing for service in the Capuchin order of friars. The college offered a program in philosophy leading to the B.A. degree. The college was operated by the Capuchin Province of St. Mary, founded in 1952 and spanning New York and New England. It was located at St. Anthony Friary in Hudson, which was constructed in 1954. The friary and college closed in 1979.

Southern New Hampshire Health is a system of hospitals and medical centers throughout the southern part of the state of New Hampshire in the United States. It is anchored by the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center (SNHMC), located in Nashua. The hospital was founded in 1893 as Nashua Memorial Hospital and is now a 188-bed regional medical facility that serves an estimated 100,000 patients a year in the southern New Hampshire region. SNHMC has over 500 primary and specialty care providers. SNHMC offers a full suite of health services, including a trauma center, newborn intensive care unit and distinguished programs in endoscopy, orthopedic surgery, gastroenterology, cardiology and neurosurgery.

The Nashua Public Library (NPL) is the public library of Nashua, New Hampshire.

The Hillsborough County Registry of Deeds is located at 19 Temple Street in Nashua, one of the county seats of Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. The two-story brick building was built in 1901 as a courthouse and county office building to a design by Boston architect Daniel H. Woodbury, and is a good example of Classical Revival architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The current courthouse is a modern building at 30 Spring Street.

Nashua is a city in southern New Hampshire, United States. At the 2020 census, it had a population of 91,322, the second-largest in northern New England after nearby Manchester. Along with Manchester, it is a seat of New Hampshire's most populous county, Hillsborough. Built around the now-departed textile industry, in recent decades Nashua's economy has shifted to the financial services, high tech, and defense industries as part of the economic recovery that started in the 1980s in the Greater Boston region. Major private employers in the city include Nashua Corporation, BAE Systems, and Teradyne. The city also hosts two major regional medical centers, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital. The South Nashua commercial district is a major regional shopping destination, lying directly on the Massachusetts border and taking advantage of New Hampshire's lack of sales tax. It is anchored by the Pheasant Lane Mall and numerous smaller shopping centers. It is one of several U.S. cities nicknamed Gate City, which references a reputation for being a travel gateway - in this case between the Boston region and New Hampshire. A number of civic groups and institutions have adopted the title.

The Nashville Historic District in Nashua, New Hampshire is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1984. It encompasses an area just north of downtown Nashua, roughly centered on the junction of Concord, Amherst, and Main streets. Its southern bound is the Nashua River and Railroad Square, its eastern bounds are Railroad Square, Clinton, Lock, Orange, and Concord streets, its northern bound is Mount Pleasant Street, and its western boundary is Abbott, Amherst, Concord, and Main streets between the northern and southern bounds.Today this area is known as French Hill, but the NRHP district takes its name from a time in the 19th century when the area was briefly separated from Nashua as the town of "Nashville". This was due to the placement of a new Town Hall in the southern half of the city (which was more populated at the time). The northern contingent split themselves off, calling themselves "Nashville". The split came only six years after the town had renamed itself "Nashua", in 1836. The creation of a new railroad line from Lowell, Massachusetts, that ran along the northern length of the Nashua River had resulted in Union Square being renamed "Railroad Square" in 1838.However, the railroad brought new economic prosperity and increased communication with Boston, and in 1853 the two town committees resolved their differences and a new town charter for the "City of Nashua" was enacted.

The Hunt Memorial Library, also known as the John M. Hunt Memorial Building, is a historic former library building at 6 Main Street in downtown Nashua, New Hampshire. Built in 1903, it is a significant early work of the renowned Gothic Revival architect Ralph Adams Cram, then in partnership with Goodhue and Ferguson. The Nashua Public Library moved to a new building in 1971. The building is owned by the city and is available for rent for functions. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Nashua, New Hampshire is an American Civil War memorial. Its cornerstone was laid on May 30, 1889, and the monument dedicated on October 15, 1889. The monument is located in central Nashua within the triangle formed by Concord, Amherst, and Nashville streets. The monument is a square, castellated column of New Hampshire granite from Nashua on a base of Quincy granite, atop which stands a figure of Victory, dressed in classical Roman garments and holding an American shield and a laurel wreath. Its base is ornamented with bronze statues of a soldier and sailor, and bronze reliefs depicting the Goddess of Liberty overseeing the reconciliation of the South with the North, an emancipation scene with a Union soldier extending a scroll to a kneeling figure, and the sinking of the Alabama by the Kearsarge. At its front is a sculpture of a saddle draped with cavalry clothing and equipment; at the rear is a sculpture of Civil War-era weapons. The design for the monument was made by T. M. Perry, of Messrs. Frederick & Field, who carved the Victory, erected the monument, and did all its granite work. The sailor was modeled by S. J. O'Kelley and cast by Melzar Hunt Mosman. The soldier was modeled by Caspar Buberl and cast by the Henry Bonnard Bronze Company. The artillery sculpture was made and cast by Melzar Hunt Mosman, as were the Emancipation bas-relief and the two lettered panels. The statue of Victory, cavalry sculpture, and sinking of the Alabama were modeled by Beattie & Brooks.
