Bythorn and Keyston

Bythorn is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bythorn and Keyston, in Cambridgeshire, England. Bythorn lies approximately 11 miles (18 km) west of Huntingdon near Molesworth. Bythorn is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 129.

Molesworth is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Brington and Molesworth in Cambridgeshire, England, historically in the county of Huntingdonshire. Molesworth is 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Huntingdon. The neighbouring village of Brington is 0.7 miles (1.1 km) from Molesworth. Molesworth is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 114. The civil parish of Brington and Molesworth covers an area of 2,842 acres (1,150 hectares). Just to the north of Molesworth and within the civil parish is RAF Molesworth. The village of Molesworth was designated a conservation area by Huntingdon District Council largely due to its typically rural English character that includes several listed buildings. In 1646, two people from Molesworth, John Winnick and Ellen Shepheard (along with others from the nearby village of Catworth) were examined as witches. The village gives its name to RAF Molesworth, a Royal Air Force station dating back to 1917. RAF Molesworth no longer has an active runway. It is the home to the Joint Analysis Center, the intelligence fusion centre supporting the United States European Command and NATO.

Brington is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Brington and Molesworth, in Cambridgeshire, England. Brington lies approximately 9 miles (14 km) north-west of Huntingdon. Brington is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 75.The neighbouring village of Molesworth is 0.7 miles (1.1 km) from Brington. The parish of "Brington and Molesworth" covers an area of 2,842 acres (1,150 hectares). Just to the north of Brington and within the civil parish is RAF Molesworth.

Royal Air Force Molesworth or more simply RAF Molesworth is a Royal Air Force station located near Molesworth, Cambridgeshire, England with a history dating back to 1917. Its runway and flight line facilities were closed in 1973 and demolished. New facilities were constructed to support ground-launched cruise missile operations in the early 1980s. It was one of the two British bases to house cruise missiles and a focus for protests. It is now a non-flying facility under the control of the United States Air Force (USAF), and is one of two Royal Air Force (RAF) stations in Cambridgeshire currently used by the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). Molesworth, RAF Alconbury and RAF Upwood were considered the "Tri-Base Area" due to their close geographic proximity and interdependency until RAF Upwood closed in late 2012. RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth were the last Second World War era Eighth Air Force airfields in the United Kingdom that were still actively in use and controlled by the United States Air Force. It was from Molesworth on 4 July 1942 that the first USAAF Eighth Air Force mission was flown over Nazi-occupied territory. Today the base is home to the Joint Intelligence Operations Center Europe Analytic Center, and a number of units from the 423rd Air Base Group.

Catworth is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England. Catworth lies approximately 9 miles (14 km) west of Huntingdon. The civil parish covers an area of 3,094 acres (1,252 hectares). Catworth village has two parts, Catworth, at the top of the hill, and Little Catworth, at the bottom. Catworth is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England.

Clopton is a small village and civil parish located in North Northamptonshire, close to the Cambridgeshire border. The village stretches along the north side of the B662 and was recorded in the Domesday Book as 'Clotone'. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 134 people. The Village Church of St Peter was built in about 1863 by Richard Armstrong. In 1395, the noblewoman Agnes Hotot married into the Dudley family at Clopton. Before her marriage, she was known for besting a man in a lance fight; when her ailing father was unable to meet the arranged dueling challenge, Hotot took his place, disguising herself in his armour. She knocked her opponent off his horse – and then revealed her true identity. The Dudley family later created a new crest in honour of her victory. The village is reputed to be haunted by a ghost known as Skulking Dudley, who lived in the area in the 14th century. Skulking Dudley Coppice is named after him.

Keyston is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bythorn and Keyston, in Cambridgeshire, England. Keyston lies approximately 12 miles (19 km) west of Huntingdon, near Molesworth. Keyston is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 151. The village lies at the western end of Huntingdonshire and the parish's western border coincides with the Cambridgeshire county boundary with Northamptonshire. The village is built around the brook that runs through its centre with the brook at about 148 feet (45 m) above sea-level. Known as Chetelestan in the Domesday Book, the name Keyston means "Boundary stone of a man called Ketil". By the 13th century it was known as Keston, and Keyston from the 16th century.

Covington is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England. Covington lies approximately 10 miles (16 km) west of Huntingdon near to Catworth and close to the county borders with both Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. Covington is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England. Covington (OE:Copp-ing-tun – The High Pasture Enclosures). The civil parish covers an area of 1,294 acres (524 hectares). At the 2011 Census the population of the village was found to be less than 100 and was included in the civil parish of Tilbrook.

Old Weston – in Huntingdonshire (now part of Cambridgeshire), England – is a village near Molesworth west of Huntingdon.In 1870–1872, John Wilson, who was a writer for the "Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales:" describes the area as, "a parish, with a scattered village, in the district of Thrapston and county of Huntingdon; 8 miles N of Kimbolton r. station. It has a post-office under St. Neots. Acres, 2,012. Real property, £2,364. Pop., 426. Houses, 93. The property is much sub-divided. The living is a p. curacy, annexed to Brington. The church is ancient but good, and has a tower and spire. There are a Wesleyan chapel and a national school." According to the 2011 UK population census, the parish of Old Weston had a population of 250 people.

Kimbolton railway station was a railway station in Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire. The station and its line closed in 1959. The journey from London St. Pancras took approximately three hours, and required a change of trains and a wait at Kettering. This journey was described by former Kimbolton School headmaster William Ingram as "long and wearisome", especially considering that the station was more than two miles away from the village centre.

Little Catworth Meadow is a 5.2-hectare (13-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Catworth and Spaldwick in Cambridgeshire.The meadow is traditionally managed grassland on calcareous loam, which is rare in Britain. It has mature hedgerows and it has a rich variety of plants such as salad burnet, dropwort, great burnet, green-winged orchid and adder's-tongue fern.The site is private land with no public access.

Winwick is a village and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England. Winwick lies approximately 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Huntingdon. It is a crossroads village on the B660 near Hamerton. Winwick is situated within Huntingdonshire which is a non-metropolitan district of Cambridgeshire as well as being a historic county of England. The meaning of the name Winwick contains two separate elements, ‘Win’ and ‘wic’. ‘Win’ refers to a personal name and ‘wic’ means a dwelling. Combining these elements gives the full meaning of Winwick which is Wina's specialised farm. According to the 2011 census, the total population (including Hamerton) is 202.Winwick contains 'All Saints' church and 'Veazey Coaches Limited', a family run coach hire company that has been running since 1978. The coach company takes children who live in Winwick to school in Great Gidding. In the 1870s, Winwick was described as: "WINWICK, a parish in the district of Oundle and counties of Huntingdon and Northampton; 4½ miles SE by E of Barnwell r. station, and 6½ SE by S of Oundle.
