Olsvik Tunnel

Olsvik Church (Norwegian: Olsvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Olsvik neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Olsvik parish which is part of the Bergen domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, concrete church was built in a rectangular design in 1990 using plans drawn up by the architect Aksel Fronth. The church seats about 500 people.

The Askøy Bridge (Norwegian: Askøybroen) is a suspension bridge that crosses the Byfjorden between the municipalities of Bergen and Askøy in Vestland county, Norway. It is 1,057 meters (3,468 ft) long and has a main span of 850 meters (2,789 ft). Its span was the longest for any suspension bridge in Norway, until the Hardanger Bridge was opened in August 2013. Now the bridge is the third longest in Norway. It carries two lanes of County Road 562 and a combined pedestrian and bicycle path. The bridge's two concrete pylons are 152 meters (499 ft) tall and are located at Brøstadneset in Bergen municipality (on the Bergen Peninsula of the mainland) and Storeklubben in Askøy municipality (on the island of Askøy). The bridge has seven spans in total, although all but the main span are concrete viaducts. The bridge has a clearance below of 62 meters (203 ft). The first plans to replace the Kleppestø–Nøstet Ferry with a bridge, which would allow the island of Askøy to have a fixed link, was launched in the 1960s. Various proposals were made, including placing the bridge further east and closer to Bergen, and building a submerged floating tunnel. In the early 1970s, a toll company was established to finance the bridge, but the planned costs were too high to cover with just tolls and there was the lack of a motorway to Bergen from the west. Because of this, the construction of the bridge was postponed. In the early 1980s, there was controversy about whether advanced tolls should be charged on the ferry, but these were ultimately charged from 1984 until the bridge opened. Construction started in 1989 and the bridge opened ahead of schedule on 12 December 1992, along with a new section of the road which included the Stongafjell Tunnel and Olsvik Tunnel. The bridge remained a toll road until 2006.

Kjøkkelvik is a mostly residential neighborhood of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The neighborhood is located on the west side of the large mountain Lyderhorn in the borough of Laksevåg, along the coast of the Byfjorden. The Norwegian Diver School is located at Kjøkkelvik. The local multi-sports team is Kjøkkelvik IL. The southern base of the Askøy Bridge is located at Kjøkkelvik.

Olsvik is a neighborhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the western part of the borough of Laksevåg, just west of the mountain Lyderhorn. The area is dominated by low-rise residential areas. It features Olsvik School, Olsvikåsen Upper Secondary School, and Olsvik Church. Olsvik is east of Godvik, west of Kjøkkelvik, north of Loddefjorddalen and Storavatnet, and south of the Byfjorden. It consists of the basic statistical units Festeråsen, Olsvikstallen, Olsvikfjellet, Olsvikmarka, Fredheim, Olsvikåsen, and Brønndalen. As of 2009, it had 4,878 residents and covered 1.36 square kilometres (0.53 sq mi).

Loddefjord is an urban settlement in the borough of Laksevåg in the municipality of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is located about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southwest of the city centre. Loddefjord consists mainly of high- and low-rise flats revolving around the local shopping mall. Informally, the area is sometimes referred to as "Loddikken".

Laksevåg is a former municipality in the old Hordaland county in Norway. The 32-square-kilometre (12 sq mi) municipality was located on the western part of the Bergen Peninsula. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Loddefjord. The municipality, which existed from 1918 until 1972, was a located a short distance west of the city of Bergen, and today it makes up the borough of Laksevåg which is part of the city of Bergen in Bergen Municipality which is now in Vestland county. The municipality was located along the Byfjorden, north of the Grimstadfjorden, and west of the Fyllingsdalen valley.

Loddefjord Church (Norwegian: Loddefjord kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Loddefjord neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Loddefjord parish which is part of the Bergen domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, stone church was built in a long church design in 1926 using plans drawn up by the architect Ole Landmark. The church seats about 250 people.

Kleppestø is the administrative centre of the municipality of Askøy in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the southern coast of the island of Askøy. The village of Florvåg lies just north of Kleppestø and the village of Strusshamn lies to the west. Kleppestø is connected to the city of Bergen by ferry and by the Askøy Bridge.

Laksevåg is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough is located in the western part of the municipality. Historically, the area was called Laxevaag, and it was a separate municipality until 1972 when it was merged into Bergen.The borough of Laksevåg has residential areas on the hillside of the mountain Damsgårdsfjellet facing the Puddefjorden. By the fjord itself are several industrial buildings, many of them connected with the maritime industry. The rococo-style Damsgård Manor is located in the borough. Like the neighboring borough of Fyllingsdalen, many of the neighborhoods of Laksevåg consist of apartment buildings, especially in the area around the main service centre, the Vestkanten shopping centre. The main road to Sotra passes through the Loddefjord area in western Laksevåg.

Kvarven Fort was a mountain fort strategically located by the main shipping channel of the Byfjorden leading to Bergen, Norway.

Lyderhorn is a mountain in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is one of "De syv fjell", the seven mountains surrounding the city centre, and the starting location of Bergen Turlag's annual trip of the mountains. It is located by Liavatnet approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) west of the city center. Due to its prominent visibility from the seas, it has historically been a navigational mark for sailors. The 329-metre (1,079 ft) tall Ørnafjellet is an adjacent peak, and below Ørnafjellet are the two lakes Skåleviksvatnet and Søre Skåleviksvatnet. North of Ørnafjellet is Kvarven fort, a strategic point during World War II, still featuring several bunkers and cannon positions used in the defense of Bergen. Lyderhorn, Ørnafjellet and Kvarven are popular hiking areas. Folklore has it that Lyderhorn was a gathering location for witches on Midsummer night, Valborg night (the night of May 1), and at Yule.

Storavatnet is a lake just southwest of the village of Loddefjord in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The 2.2-kilometre (1.4 mi) long lake is located in the borough of Laksevåg, west of the city center of Bergen.There is a small man-made dam on the southwest coast, regulating the one natural outlet for the 1-square-kilometre (250-acre) lake. The major highway junction of Norwegian County Road 562 and Norwegian National Road 555 lies on the northern shore of the lake. Route 562 heads north to the Askøy Bridge going to the island of Askøy. Route 555 heads west to the Sotra Bridge which goes to the island of Sotra. The terminal in Loddefjord, near the lake is the proposed end of the new Loddefjord branch of the Bergen Light Rail system.
