Lower Boscaswell

Boscaswell (Cornish: Boscaswal) is a village in the extreme west of Cornwall, England, UK. It lies towards the cliffs from Pendeen, looking west across fields to the Atlantic Ocean. Boscaswell lies within the St Just in Penwith division of Cornwall Council. The village consists mainly of terraced cottages, built of granite, and a council house estate. Many of the cottages would once have housed families whose menfolk worked at the Geevor Tin Mine. Higher Boscaswell is a hamlet south-east of Pendeen.

Pendeen (from Cornish: Penn Din meaning "headland fort", previously known as Cornish: Boskaswal Wartha, meaning "Caswal's high dwelling") is a village and ecclesiastical parish on the Penwith peninsula in Cornwall, England. It is 3 miles (5 kilometres) north-northeast of St Just and 7 mi (11 km) west of Penzance. It lies along the B3306 road which connects St Ives to Land's End and the A30 road. The village has a community centre, a shop, a post office, a primary school, and a few small businesses. Community activities include an art club, a gardening club, silver marching band and a football club. Nearby settlements include Carnyorth and Trewellard and the historic Geevor Tin Mine is immediately north of the village. The village gets its name from the headland on which Pendeen Lighthouse stands, a mile from the village. Like many other Cornish villages near the coast, Pendeen had a reputation for smuggling activities. Pendeen is overlooked by a hill, Carn Eanes, referred to locally as 'The Carn', the site of a quarry which provided the granite to build Pendeen church. Pendeen lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the St Just in Penwith division of Cornwall Council.Pendeen is close (1 km) to the South West Coast Path and in addition has a number of local footpaths for exploring the surroundings.

Trewellard (from Cornish: Trewylard, meaning "Gwylard's settlement"; grid reference SW376337) is a small village on the north coast road between St Just and St Ives in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It lies along the B3306 road which connects St Ives to the A30 road. It is situated 7 miles from Land's End and 7 miles from Penzance. It is in the civil parish of St Just and the electoral division of St Just in Penwith. Trewellard lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park.

Geevor Tin Mine (from Cornish: Whel an Gever, meaning "mine of the goats"), formerly North Levant Mine is a tin mine in the far west of Cornwall, England, between the villages of Pendeen and Trewellard. It was operational between 1911 and 1990 during which time it produced about 50,000 tons of black tin. It is now a museum and heritage centre left as a living history of a working tin mine. The museum is an Anchor Point of ERIH, The European Route of Industrial Heritage. Since 2006, the mine has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape.

Pendeen Vau is a fogou on the Cornish coast of England, near the village of Pendeen. It is situated at Pendeen (Manor) farm, once the home of the renowned historian William Borlase about half a mile from Pendeen Lighthouse. As the fogou is on private land, it is only accessible by asking permission at Pendeen Manor farm.

Carn Kenidjack (grid reference SW388329) is a hill in Tregeseal, Cornwall, UK. It is covered in megaliths including Tregeseal East stone circle.A tale is told that two miners returning home one night witnessed a wrestling match near Carn Kenidjack, which was presided over by the Devil. When one of the demon wrestlers was wounded, they whispered a prayer in his ear, and the entire spectacle disappeared.

It is approximately one mile (1.6 km) south of Pendeen and six miles (10 km) northwest of Penzance. It is in the civil parish of St Just in Penwith It lies along the B3306 road which connects St Ives to the A30 road near Land's End Carnyorth lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the electoral division of St Just in Penwith. Bojewyan is a settlement on the Penwith Peninsula in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The village lies along the B3306 road which runs along the north coast and connects St Ives to St Just. It is located between the villages of Pendeen and Morvah. The settlement once had a Wesleyan Chapel which was reopened in May 1879 after alterations and repairs.

Tregeseal East (Cornish: Meyn an Dons, meaning "Stones of the Dance"; grid reference SW386323) is a heavily restored prehistoric stone circle around one mile northeast of the town of St Just in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The nineteen granite stones are also known as The Dancing Stones. It is the one surviving circle of three that once stood aligned along an east–west axis on the hillside to the south of Carn Kenidjack.

Levant Mine and Beam Engine is a National Trust property at Trewellard, Pendeen, near St Just, Cornwall, England, UK. Its main attraction is that it has the world's only Cornish beam engine still operated by steam on its original site. There is also a visitor centre, a short underground tour, and the South West Coast Path leads to Botallack Mine, via a cliff-top footpath.In 1919 the engine used to transport men between the different levels of the mine failed, leading to the deaths of thirty-one men. Since 2006, the area has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape.

Botallack Manor was built in the 17th century. The house is featured in the BBC television series Poldark, and is a Grade II* listed building situated in St Just, Cornwall.
