Middlewood is a small village in the parish of North Hill, Cornwall, England, UK. Middlewood is in the valley of the River Lynher and on the B3254 road between Launceston and Liskeard. There was formerly a Bible Christian chapel at Middlewood.

Botternell is a hamlet in the parish of North Hill, east Cornwall in the United Kingdom. The name means "Dornel's dwelling". Boturnell, also in Cornwall, has the same meaning. The earliest date for the village of Botternell is around the year.1160. By 1650, it consisted of two separate villages - higher and lower Bourtnell, (spelling varies). By 1840, Botternel was no longer classified as a village. Today, Botternel consists of a farm of the same name and a small hamlet of five houses on the site. There is a bus stop in the hamlet.

The Darley Oak is a Pedunculate oak tree (Quercus robur) which grows near Darleyford in the parish of Linkinhorne on the edge of Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, England, UK. This ancient tree is thought to be at least 1,000 years old, and a considerable number of legends take it as their core. Folk tradition attributes healing properties to the tree, and it is said that any wish made to it will eventually come true. Its acorns are also used as amulets, and were once used by pregnant women during pregnancy, to bring them luck. It was chosen one of the 50 Great British Trees by The Tree Council in 2002.

North Hill (Cornish: Bre Gledh) is a village and civil parish in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The village is situated on the east side of the River Lynher approximately six miles (10 km) southwest of Launceston.North Hill is a large rural parish on the eastern flank of Bodmin Moor bisected northwest to southeast by the River Lynher. It is bounded in the north by Lewannick parish, on the east by Lezant and Linkinhorne parishes, on the south by St Cleer and on the west by Altarnun. Settlements include the church town of North Hill and Coad's Green, Bathpool, Congdon's Shop, Kingbeare, Middlewood, Illand or Yeiland, and Trebartha. The Trebartha estate is one of four farms mentioned in Domesday BookTrewortha Farm, a children's outdoor education venue, incorporates a reconstruction of a Bronze Age settlement as well as a medieval village of the same name. The medieval village was excavated by the Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould.North Hill ecclesiastical parish is in the Deanery and Hundred of East. The parish church is dedicated to St Torney whose Holy Well is situated by the River Lynher. The church has a chancel (restored in the 19th century), nave, and north and south aisles. The granite ashlar tower has three stages, is buttressed topped with battlements. The belfry contains six bells. There were also Wesleyan Methodist chapels at North Hill, Coads Green, and Bathpool and Bible Christian chapels at Middlewood and Congdon's Shop.

Bathpool (Cornish: Pollbath) is a small village in the civil parish of North Hill in east Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated in the River Lynher valley on the southeast fringe of Bodmin Moor, about five miles (8 kilometres) northwest of Callington.

Sharptor is a hamlet west of Henwood in the civil parish of Linkinhorne in east Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is named after Sharp Tor on Bodmin Moor. Sharptor is close to Minions to the south, Kingbeare in the north and Darleyford to the east. Sharptor is around 280 metres (920 ft) above sea level. Caradon Hill, standing at 371 metres (1,217 ft) high, on which there is a TV transmission mast on the summit is visible from Sharptor looking south. Kit Hill standing at 334 metres (1,096 ft), which is topped with the stack of South Kit Hill mine, is visible due east from Sharptor. On a clear day, east and just to the right of Kill Hill, Dartmoor can be seen.

Phoenix United Mine is a disused 19th century copper and tin mine in Cornwall, England, UK. Heavy metals left over in the soil from the mining operations have allowed mosses and lichens to flourish, and today the site is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), noted for its biological characteristics. All of the land designated as Phoenix United Mine SSSI is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.

Upton Cross and Upton are hamlets a quarter of a mile apart in east Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Upton is situated at grid reference SX 279 724 north of Upton Cross 5 miles (8 kilometres) northwest of Callington. They are on the northeast side of Caradon Hill on the B3254 Liskeard to Launceston road. St Paul's Church at Upton Cross is a mission church built in this corner of the parish of Linkinhorne in 1887 to serve the needs of the local mining community. The area is served by Upton Cross Academy, a primary school and pre-school. The school is part of Kernow Learning, a multi academy trust of schools in Cornwall. A little further north are the hamlets of Darleyford and North Darley below Notter Tor and a remarkable tree, the Darley Oak. At Netherton Farm Yarg cheese was produced from 1984 to 2006 by Lynher Dairies. Cornish Blue, a cheese made by the Cornish Cheese Company at Upton Cross, was the winning cheese in the World Food Awards in December 2010. The Hurlers are a group of three stone circles some distance to the west.
