Brome and Oakley

Scole () is a village on the Norfolk–Suffolk border in England. It is 19 miles south of Norwich and lay on the old Roman road to Venta Icenorum, which was the main road until it was bypassed with a dual carriageway. It covers an area of 14.31 km2 (5.53 sq mi) and had a population of 1,339 in 563 households at the 2001 census; the population had increased to 1,367 at the 2011 Census.It lies on the north bank of the River Waveney. The parish church of St Andrew was rebuilt in the 1960s after being destroyed in an arson attack. There is an east window by Patrick Reyntiens dating from 1963.Scole is the birthplace of William Gooderham (1792) and Ezekiel Gooderham (1794), founders of the Gooderham and Worts distillery in Toronto, Canada, later to be the largest in the British Empire.

Brome is a village and former civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district, in the north of the English county of Suffolk. It lies on the A140 Norwich to Ipswich road around 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of Eye and 2 miles (3.2 km) southeast of Diss near the border with Norfolk. In 1961 the parish had a population of 230. The village is now in the parish of Brome and Oakley and has been combined with the village of Oakley for centuries but the civil parish was only combined on 1 April 1982.The village church, dedicated to St Mary, is one of 38 existing round-tower churches in Suffolk. It is a Grade II* listed building with a medieval core dating from the 12th century. A moated site near the church is a scheduled monument dating from the same period.

Stuston is a small village and civil parish in the Mid-Suffolk district of the county of Suffolk, England close to the border with Norfolk, England. Its postal town is Diss, Norfolk, England. Stuston falls under the authority of Mid Suffolk District Council for local services and Suffolk County Council for larger and more expensive services. It also has a Parish Council.

Royal Air Force Eye or more simply RAF Eye is a former Royal Air Force station located 11 miles (18 km) northeast of Stowmarket, Suffolk, England on the northwest edge of Eye and south of Diss.

Oakley is a village and former civil parish in the Mid Suffolk district, in the north of the English county of Suffolk. It lies immediately to the south of the River Waveney around 3 miles (4.8 km) north-east of Eye and the same distance south-east of Diss. The village of Scole is 1 mile (1.6 km) north-east across the River Waveney. In 1961 the parish had a population of 204. The village is in the parish of Brome and Oakley and the benefice has been combined with the village of Brome for centuries but the civil parish was only combined on 1 April 1982.The village church is dedicated to St Nicholas. It is a Grade II* listed building dating from the 14th century.

Eye Priory was a Benedictine Priory dedicated to St Peter in the town of Eye in the English county of Suffolk. It was founded by Robert Malet c. 1080 and originally an Alien Priory dependent on Bernay Abbey in Normandy. It became independent in 1385 by charter of Richard II when it could support only 3-4 monks. It was finally dissolved in 1537 as part of the Dissolution of the Monasteries, with the lands being given to Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk.Only the 15th/16th century 'gatehouse' now survives, in use as a barn. It is a Grade II listed building. During excavations, a 9th-century seal-die of Bishop Aethelwold (845-70) was found. Excavations in 1926 demonstrated that the church and claustral buildings were a replica of the mother-house. The church had an aisled nave with apsidal chancel and apsidal side chapels adjoining. The transepts also had apsidal chapels. The claustral buildings were arranged to the north, the cloister being 90 feet square. The site is scheduled as an ancient monument.

Eye () is a market town and civil parish in the north of the English county of Suffolk, about 4 miles (6 km) south of Diss, 17.5 miles (28 km) north of Ipswich and 23 miles (37 km) south-west of Norwich. The population in the 2011 Census of 2,154 was estimated to be 2,361 in 2019. It lies close to the River Waveney, which forms the border with Norfolk, and on the River Dove. Eye is twinned with the town of Pouzauges in the Vendée department of France.

Eye Town Hall is a municipal building in Broad Street in Eye, Suffolk, England. The building, which is the meeting place of Eye Town Council, is a Grade II* listed building.

Eye Castle is a motte and bailey medieval castle with a prominent Victorian addition in the town of Eye, Suffolk. Built shortly after the Norman conquest of England in 1066, the castle was sacked and largely destroyed in 1265. Sir Edward Kerrison built a stone house on the motte in 1844: the house later decayed into ruin, becoming known as Kerrison's Folly in subsequent years.

Hartismere is a state funded co-educational day school for scholars aged 11–18 in Eye, a town in High Suffolk. The headmaster is James McAtear who joined the School in 2006. In 2009 the school changed its status to become a Foundation School, the first in Suffolk. In September 2010 the school became Suffolk's first Academy and the first in England. It has been awarded Outstanding status by Ofsted on three successive occasions (2010, 2014 and 2018). The school has specialisms in Mathematics, Music, Science and Sport and in 2013 it was awarded Leading Edge status.

Eye railway station was located in Eye, Suffolk on a branch from Mellis. It was 94 miles 24 chains (151.8 km) down-line from London Liverpool Street. It was closed to passengers on 2 February 1931 and to goods on 13 July 1964. In the 1840s, the town leaders of Eye unsuccessfully lobbied to have the new main line from London to Norwich run through Eye - instead, the line was routed through nearby Diss, which had an enormous effect on the prosperity and growth of that town. Eye got its own station on a later branch line, of much less importance, opening some time later.

The Pennings is a 2.7 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Eye in Suffolk. It is owned and managed by Mid Suffolk District Council.This site on the east bank of the River Dove is managed as a hay meadow. Fauna on the river bank include kingfishers and water voles.There is access from Ludgate Causeway, off Hoxne Road.
