Roth (Rednitz)

Roth (formerly Roth bei Nürnberg) is a town in Bavaria, Germany, the capital of the Roth District. It is located about 25 km south of Nuremberg.

Roth is a Landkreis (district) in Middle Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the northeast and clockwise) the districts of Nürnberger Land, Neumarkt, Eichstätt, Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen, Ansbach and Fürth, and the cities of Schwabach and Nürnberg. In medieval times the area was ruled by many lords. Brandenburg-Ansbach and Nuremberg owned possessions in the territory, and other parts were the property of clerical states. When these clerical states were dissolved in 1803, the territory fell to Bavaria. The district was established in 1972 through the merger of the former districts of Roth, Schwabach and Hilpoltstein.

Roth station is a railway station in the municipality of Roth, located in the Roth district in Middle Franconia, Germany. The station is located at the junction of the Nuremberg–Roth, Nuremberg–Augsburg, and Roth–Greding lines.

Aurach (German pronunciation: [ˈaʊ̯ʁax] (listen)) is a river in the Bavarian Landkreise (districts) of Ansbach and Roth, Germany. The name means "river, where the Aurochs' graze" (Old High German ūr = Auerochs and aha = flowing water). The Aurach originates about 1 kilometre (0.6 mi) west of Petersaurach, Middle Franconia at an altitude of 452 metres (1,483 ft) above sea level. It flows almost 32 kilometres (20 mi) eastward until it flows into the Rednitz. On its way, it passes the villages of Aich (Neuendettelsau, Bertholdsdorf (Windsbach) Veitsaurach (Windsbach), Barthelmesaurach (Kammerstein), Gauchsdorf (Büchenbach and Rothaurach (Roth). Downwards of Götzenreuth (Büchenbach), it is the receiving water of the southern flank of the Heidenberg. It flows to the northern edge of Roth at 325 metres (1,066 ft) above sea level from the left into the Rednitz. Like most of the western tributaries of the Rednitz, the Aurach has a small slope and a small runoff as well as sand structures in the waterfront and in the waters of the river. In the past, the Aurach drove a mill about every two miles. These were for example the Hammerschmiede, Geichsenmühle, Mausenmühle, Steinmühle, Buckenmühle, Hasenmühle, Neumühle, and Hebresmühle as well as those at Gauchsdorf and Rothaurach and the Lohmühle near Roth. Today, the hydropower of Aurach has lost its importance. At Petersaurach, Mausendorf, Veitsaurach, Barthelmesaurach, Götzenreuth, Breitenlohe, Aurau, and Rothaurach, the Aurach takes up the purified sewage water from the respective purification plants. The majority of the course of the river Aurach in the district of Roth is located in the landscape protection area No. 00428.01.

Schwarzach is a river of Bavaria, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Rednitz near Schwabach.

The Swabian Rezat (German: Schwäbische Rezat, pronounced [ˈʃvɛːbɪʃə ˈʁɛtsat]) is a 33.3-kilometre-long river in southern Germany (Bavaria). It is the southern, right source river of the Rednitz. It rises in the Franconian Jura hills, near Weißenburg in Bayern. It flows generally north through the towns Weißenburg in Bayern, Ellingen and Pleinfeld. Together with the Franconian Rezat, it forms the Rednitz in Georgensgmünd. In its upper course the Rezat is close to the continental water shed between Rhine and Danube. In the 8th century Charlemagne tried to build a canal between Rezat and Altmühl which were only 3 km away from each other. It's not clear if it was finished and used for a short period or not. Its remains can be seen as "Fossa Carolina" or "Karlsgraben" near Treuchtlingen.
