Tomkins Knob

Fire Scale Mountain is a mountain in the North Carolina High Country, near the community of Deep Gap. The majority of the mountain is within the Blue Ridge Parkway. Its elevation reaches 3,845 feet (1,172 m). Split along the Eastern Continental Divide, it generates feeder streams to both the South Fork New River (via Gap Creek) and Yadkin River (via Stony Fork). Ivy Point Ridge juts out southeasterly from the mountain, which is used by US 421 to transition from the Foothills to the Mountains. Deep Gap is a natural gap adjacent to the mountain; it provides both the name of the nearby community and the intersection of the Blue Ridge Parkway and US 421.

Cascade Falls, also called "The Cascades", is a waterfall located at E. B. Jeffress Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, United States.

Deep Gap is an unincorporated community located in Watauga County, North Carolina, United States. The community is named after the natural gap, called Deep Gap, at Fire Scale Mountain, where the Blue Ridge Parkway crosses over US 421. Influential guitar player Doc Watson was born in Deep Gap and lived there until his death on May 29, 2012.

The Dark Sky Observatory (DSO) is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Appalachian State University (ASU). It is located 9 kilometers (5.6 mi) east of Deep Gap, North Carolina (USA), off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and 32 kilometers (20 mi) east of the ASU campus in Boone, North Carolina It was established in 1981, and is used for research, instruction, and public viewing events. The Cline Visitors' Center was completed in 2011.

Fleetwood is an unincorporated community in Ashe County, North Carolina, United States. Fleetwood is located along Railroad Grade Road near U.S. Route 221, 8.2 miles (13.2 km) south-southwest of Jefferson. Fleetwood has a post office with ZIP code 28626, which opened on July 27, 1898.

A.S. Cooper Farm is a historic farm complex and national historic district located near Brownwood, Ashe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 13 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 1 contributing structure. They are located in three primary clusters on the farm. The A.S. Cooper, Sr. cluster includes the A.S. Cooper, Sr. House (c. 1890), spring house (c. 1890), tool shed / wood shed (c. 1890, c. 1925), chicken coop (c. 1939), granary (c. 1890), and garage (1934). The second cluster is the barn / milking parlor (1908, 1946, c. 1980), and silo (c. 1947) complex. The third cluster includes the Albert Sidney Cooper, Jr. House (1918), small shed (c. 1918), kitchen building, shed (c. 1940), spring house (c. 1880), and barn. Associated with the complex is the family cemetery and agricultural landscape.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Powder Horn Mountain (PMH) is a gated residential/resort community in Triplett, Watauga County, North Carolina, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The project was founded by developer Bob Horne, and included a golf course, riding stables and trails in nearby Wilkes County, but after undergoing bankruptcy and foreclosure it was divided and sold separately. A group of property owners founded a partnership called the Laurel Creek Group, purchased the homes from foreclosure, and created the Powder Horn Mountain Property Owners Association. The group then deeded the common property to the homeowners association.[1] The golf course no longer exists, and the land is now owned by many individual owners and is not part of PHM. Leatherwood, a newly formed gated community, is located on the site of the old riding stables. Recent years have seen the community resuming steady but slow growth. The Powder Horn Mountain POA annexed more than 200 acres (0.81 km2) formerly known as "Brightwood IV" into Powder Horn in 2005, an area now known as Powder Horn Estates. There is an unrelated Powder Horn Golf Community in Colorado [2].

R. T. Greer and Company Root and Herb Warehouse is a historic warehouse located near Todd, Ashe County, North Carolina. It was built about 1918, and is a two-story, rectangular, timber framed commercial building. It is sheathed in corrugated metal sheet siding and rests on a brick pier foundation.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The township had a population of 613 as of the 2010 census.Elk Township occupies 11.7 square miles (30.3 km2) in southwestern Ashe County. There are no incorporated municipalities located in Elk Township, but there are several unincorporated communities, including Todd.

Parsonsville is an unincorporated community in Wilkes County, North Carolina, United States, close to North Wilkesboro. NASCAR legend Benny Parsons was raised in the area.It was named for the Parsons family of settlers.
