Cranham Marsh is a 15.3 hectare Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation in Cranham in the London Borough of Havering. It is owned by Havering Council and managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust.The habitats on the site are woodland, wet meadow and marsh, and it has one of the few areas of fen to survive in the area. There are three small woods, including Spring Wood, which has species indicative of ancient woodland. Locally uncommon plants in wetland areas include southern marsh-orchid, fine-leaved water-dropwort and golden dock. Insects include a rare bee, Macropis europaea, and 23 species of butterfly have been recorded. It is also a good site for water voles. A tributary of the River Ingrebourne runs through the site.There is access by footpaths from Park Drive and The Chase.

Cranham Hall is a Grade II listed building in Cranham, London, England.Built c.1795, it forms a typical Essex church-manor house complex, standing on the ridge in the south of the former parish of Cranham. Its predecessor, of red brick, c.1600 was occupied by Revd Sir Edward Petre of Cranham Hall (the 3rd Baronet, and confessor to James II), and later by James Oglethorpe. Much of its garden wall survives, and appears to be in the same red brick. The Elizabethan hall stood east of the half-H plan timber hall. The latter appears to be 14th/15th century, and a 17th-century map, glimpses of it in Miss Boyd's sketches and at least one sketch of the 18th century hall, suggest it survived into the 19th century. If it is 14th / 15th century then at least one more predecessor building, at the head of the Domesday manor of Wokydon (episcopi) can be inferred.

Chafford was an ancient hundred in the south west of the county of Essex, England. Its area has been partly absorbed by the growth of London; with its name reused for the modern housing development of Chafford Hundred. Its former area now corresponds to part of the London Borough of Havering in Greater London and parts of the districts of Brentwood and Thurrock in Essex.

Gaynes School is a coeducational secondary school situated on Brackendale Gardens, Upminster, in the London Borough of Havering, London, England.Opened in 1936, the school celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2011. The school takes its name from the medieval manor of Gaynes in Upminster, which was held by the d'Engayne family from 1218 to circa 1360. Previously a community school administered by Havering London Borough Council, in July 2018 Gaynes School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the Loxford School Trust.

Thames Chase is a community forest of 9842 hectares (24,320 acres/38 square miles) located in 47 sites in London and Essex, England. Its stated aim is "to renew and regenerate the landscape at the edge of East London and South Essex by creating Thames Chase, the Community Forest: a varied wooded landscape for local people to influence, create, use, enjoy and cherish". It has been managed as a community forest since 1990. The forest centre is located near Upminster and is surrounded by 56 hectares (140 acres) of new woodlands, meadows and ponds managed by Forestry England.

The church of St Mary Magdalene is a Church of England religious building in North Ockendon, Greater London, England (and within the Upminster post town). It is a Grade I listed building and is dedicated to Jesus' companion Mary Magdalene.

The 2011 Census population of Cranham was included in Upminster.

Historically a rural village, Upminster grew from the ancient parish of St. Lawrence, in the union of Romford; part of the hundred of Chafford and the historic county of Essex. The economic history of Upminster is characterised by a shift from farming to brick making to garden suburb. It is currently mainly commercial shopping, small businesses and residential.It was first connected to central London by rail in 1885 and has a terminal station on the London Underground network. As part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Upminster significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming part of Hornchurch Urban District in 1934, and has formed part of Greater London since 1965.

Damyns Hall Aerodrome (ICAO: EGML) is an operational general aviation training and experience aerodrome 2 nautical miles (3.7 km; 2.3 mi) south of Upminster in the London Borough of Havering, England and slightly closer to Aveley to its south. It has around 100 acres of grassland and is owned and operated by Damyns Hall Aerodrome Limited.
