The Montgrí (Catalan pronunciation: [muŋˈɡɾi]) is a small mountain range in Catalonia, on the north bank of the Ter river. It is part of the Catalan Coastal Range and its highest point is 311 m.

The Museum of the Mediterranean is a museum located in Torroella de Montgrí, founded in 2003, in an attempt to become an area for knowledge, reflection and research for the problems and worries that affect citizens in the 21st century. It is housed in Can Quintana, a 16th-century building. It is dedicated to the knowledge and communication of the Mediterranean Sea and uses the natural sounds, human sounds and music to show the reality of the land, the history and the culture of the village of Torroella, connected with the others Mediterranean cultures and towns. It pretends to become a site to think about the nearest territory and the main issues that affect the different Mediterranean nations. It is also an Interpretation Centre of the Natural Park of Montgrí, Medes Islands and Lower Ter. Besides, it hosts the Documentation Centre of Montgrí, Medes Islands and Lower Ter and the Academic Chair of Littoral Mediterranean Ecosystems.

The Palau Solterra houses the Contemporary Photography Museum of the Fundació Vila Casas (national and international) located in the town of Torroella de Montgrí in the Baix Empordà region of Catalonia. It was opened in 2000. The collection comprises some 300 contemporary photographs with works by artists from around the world, including Chema Madoz, Alberto García Álix, Toni Catany and Otto Lloyd. In addition to the centre's permanent collection, temporary exhibitions and a cycle of conferences on history and humanities are held annually. Related with the building, the Palau Solterra is a 15th-century palatial mansion that was once the residence of the Counts of Torroella de Montgrí.

The Palau Solterra Museum is one of the cultural centers of the Vila Casas Foundation located, located in the palace of the same name in Torroella de Montgrí (Girona), a town of the Baix Empordà region. The Battle of Torroella, also known as Battle of the river Ter, took place during the Nine Years' War, on 27 May 1694 along the banks and fords of the Ter River near the Puente Mayor in the vicinity of the important town of Girona, Catalonia, Spain.

The Montgrí Castle (Catalan: Castell del Montgrí) is a historical edifice in Torroella de Montgrí, Catalonia, Spain, built between 1294 and 1301. Its reason to be was the existing conflict between the counts of Empúries - who ruled over most of the area around the town - and the counts of Barcelona, the most powerful of Catalonia at that time, who also had great power over the Mediterranean. In order to control the moves of the counts of Empuriés, the court of Barcelona commanded Bernat de Llabià, the governor of the Royal town of Torroella de Montgrí, to supervise the building of a fortress on top of the Montgrí Massif. Work started in 1294 but the fortress was never completed as is obvious today. After those days, the fortress has lost its strategic value but has instead become a symbol of the region. The GR 92 long distance footpath, which roughly follows the length of the Mediterranean coast of Spain, passes the castle on its stage between Sant Martí d'Empúries and Torroella de Montgrí.

Gualta is a village in the province of Girona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 9 square kilometres (3.5 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 362. The GR 92 long distance footpath, which roughly follows the length of the Mediterranean coast of Spain, passes through the village. Gualta lies on an inland stage of the path, between Torroella de Montgrí and Begur. To the north the path heads directly towards Torroella across the Ter river, and to the south it passes through Fontanilles.

Bellcaire d'Empordà (Catalan pronunciation: [ˌbeʎˈkajɾə ðəmpuɾˈða]) is a municipality in the comarca of Baix Empordà, in Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 12.68 square kilometres (4.90 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 650.

Fontanilles is a village in the province of Girona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. The municipality covers an area of 9.29 square kilometres (3.59 sq mi) and the population in 2014 was 160. The GR 92 long-distance footpath, which roughly follows the length of the Mediterranean coast of Spain, passes through the village. Fontanilles lies on an inland stage of the path, between Torroella de Montgrí and Begur. To the north, towards Torroella, the path passes through Gualta, and to the south, it passes through Palau-sator.

Serra de Daró is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain. Documented since 1017, it is located in the Daró river valley.

Empordà (Catalan: [əmpuɾˈða]; Spanish: Ampurdán [ampuɾˈðan]) is a natural and historical region of Catalonia, Spain, divided since 1936 into two comarques, Alt Empordà and Baix Empordà. The city of Figueres, an important urban and economic center of the Empordà, was designated the capital of Alt Empordà, while La Bisbal d'Empordà, following a more geographic and historical criteria, became the capital of Baix Empordà. Empordà has been the cradle for many pictoric schools, with surrealism standing out, including artists such as Salvador Dalí, Angel Planells, Joan Massanet and Evarist Vallès.
