Southwick is a suburb in Ooty town. It is located on the NH 67 road from Ooty to Coonoor at about 3 km from the bus stand in Ooty. The suburb falls within the Ooty municipality in Tamil Nadu, India. It has derived its name from the Southwick Bungalow in the suburb.

Stone House was the first bungalow constructed in Ooty, India. It was built by John Sullivan and was called Kal Bangala by the tribals (Kal means stone in Tamil). Today, it is the official residence of the Principal of the Government Arts College, Ooty. The tree in front of the bungalow is known as the Sullivan's oak.

Adam's fountain is a public display fountain in Charring cross, Ooty. It was built in 1886 as a memorial to a Governor of Ooty, who was very famous in the region during his tenure. The total cost of finishing the fountain was between Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 14000, which was funded through public funding.

Government Arts College is an arts and science college located in Ooty in the Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu, India. The college is located in a locale called Stone house hill named after the landmark building Stone House.

Breeks Memorial Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School is a Christian co-educational school established in 1874. It was named after James Wilkinson Breeks, the first Commissioner (District Collector) of the Nilgiris. It was erected for the children of Europeans and Eurasians by public subscription shortly after his death, as a memorial to his services to the Nilgiris community. The first non Christian principal and correspondent was N Raman. He headed the school for a very long time. The school is 1.5 km from the Government Botanical Gardens, Ooty.

Ooty Racecourse is a highland race course in Ooty, Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu. Built for summer racing in the hills, the course stands at an altitude of 2,268 m (7,441 ft) above sea level. The race course is adjacent to the railway station in the heart of town. Horse races are conducted in the summer season, from April to June, when it has been traditional to come to the hill station to escape the summer heat. The course occupies over 55 acres in the centre of Ooty. The course is about 2.4 km long. The main event of the racing season is "The Nilgiri Gold Cup Race". To commemorate 125 years of racing in this hill station, a special race for "The Post Centenary Silver Jubilee Cup" was run in 2011, and creating a garden is under discussion. A fire occurred at the race course in March 2011, believed to have been started by a cigarette butt, but was put out without harm to the horses.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ootacamund (Latin: Ootacamunden(sis)) is a diocese located in the city of Ootacamund (Ooty) in the ecclesiastical province of Madras and Mylapore in India.

Sacred Heart Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church located near the Botanical Gardens in Ooty (Udhagamandalam) in the Nilgiris district, in Tamil Nadu in south India. Built in 1897, it is the second oldest Roman Catholic church in Ooty, the oldest being St. Mary's Church. It was designated a cathedral in 1955 when the Diocese of Ootacamund was created.

The Nīlgiris district is one of the 38 districts in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Nilgiri (English: Blue Mountains) is the name given to a range of mountains spread across the borders among the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. The Nilgiri Hills are part of a larger mountain chain known as the Western Ghats. Their highest point is the mountain of Doddabetta, height 2,637 m. The district is contained mainly within the Nilgiri Mountains range. The administrative headquarters is located at Ooty (Ootacamund or Udhagamandalam). The district is bounded by Coimbatore to the south, Erode to the east, and Chamarajnagar district of Karnataka and Wayanad district of Kerala to the north. As it is located at the junction of three states, namely, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, significant Malayali and Kannadiga populations reside in the district. Nilgiris district is known for natural mines of Gold, which is also seen in the other parts of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve extended in the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Kerala too. Nilgiris district ranked first in a comprehensive Economic Environment index ranking districts in Tamil Nadu (except Chennai district) prepared by the Institute for Financial Management and Research in August 2009. Tea and coffee plantations have been important to its economy. As of 2011, the Nilgiris district had a population of 735,394, with a sex-ratio of 1,042 females for every 1,000 males. All types of single use plastics are banned in Nilgiris district: it is the first plastic free district in Tamil Nadu.
